2020 actually has some decent releases. Tried a few today and was pleasantly surprised by a few such as Gucci Guilty Intense and Fusion D'Issey. Not to mention Guerlain Ideal Extreme and Tom Ford Black Orchid Parfum which I haven't smelt yet
Had the same impression with Explorer. It does grow on you.
It's not only Mont Blanc and other designer brands that release the "inspired" fragrances. Tom Ford also has many in its line that was inspired by other fragrances, mostly older and discontinued ones.

Funny I smelled profundo and Toy Boy same day at a dillards in Vegas back in May. I like Toy Boy by leaps n bounds. Sampled tiffany and Co scents, a MK scent and Perry Ellis America which I enjoyed also!
I must say this was a great video to watch. It was interesting and very well described for each fragrances compared. We should have more videos like this. Us as the watchers we often wonder which one would you pick when having two and can only pick one. It helps us think outside the box when we make our choices. Interesting! I like the idea for the video. Nice picks. Dior Homme 2020 is a pretty solid fragrance, in my opinion. It gets the job done, lasts 9 hours and ladies love it. Though, it is closer to Escentric Molecule than to Dior Homme line, I still like it. I think that Dior should have made this as a completely new fragrance, not in the Dior Homme line.

Beau de Jour is an absolute beast performer. I oversprayed first time I wore it and my wife could smell it projecting all day so lesson learnt, only a couple of sprays.
Yeah, I live in Louisiana and in this heat, 2 sprays is definitely enough. Only downside for me is that I go asnosmic to this scent so I definitely have the urge to spray more, which is a bad idea.

I have one (slightly) related question :-
The opening of Explorer is my favourite scent opening ever but it changes quickly and the fragrance isn't the best on performance.
Is there a fragrance out there that has that 'opening' scent but linear, right through and with at least reasonable performance..?
Beau de Jour is my go to spring / summer fragrance ; for me it’s a modern day take of Eau Sauvage .

Mont Blanc Explorer wins every time for me. Although it was Aventus inspired, I like the different direction it takes, even better than Aventus and that's a tall order!

I've yet to ge used to the almond scent in Guerlain lhomme ideal cologne. Do all the flankers have that almond backdrop?
Maybe in time I'll grow to love it but for now we will see.
I thought the same thing when I first got mine in. Everyone was hyping it, but I wasn't the biggest fan. But I kept reaching for it, and if not wearing it at least smelling it. And now I absolutely love the scent!

I’ve got explorer, I’ve been tempted to buy Beau de Jour! The Guerlain & Cartier will definitely be added to my collection.
I have Beau de Jour. It's a beastly fragrance that is hyper-masculine. IMO, it's not for the younger crowd. Definitely for those that are 25 plus or have a professional job. Younger ladies probably aren't going to appreciate it.

I bought Mont Blanc Explorer...... no regrets. Works great in hot dry weather but don't use it in hot humid weather, it reeks like mold.
I wear in hot humid weather and have never smelled mold .. must of been your shirt that was left wet in washing machine 2-days before drying 🤪

Beau de Jour is one of my favourite fragrances period. It's just so classy, but yet wearable; classic (in the best way possible) but also modern. Not for the "bro-dude", decidedly!
It is awesome, but definitely for a man that acts classy and mature. Not a scent that teenage and early 20s females would appreciate IMO.

@@ND-ku4yo I don't get that at all. It's very green and fragrant. I don't get a minty feeling from it.
@@ND-ku4yo it has a slight mintyness, but not a sweet toothpaste mint, and it's very supportive of the lavender. the sweetness comes from the amber and as it dries the oakmoss/patchouli/amber trio takes the stage darkening the strong lavender presence!

Easy Choices for me
1. Pasha de cartier easy win. I love this one real different. (Sauvage parfum is just meh. I'd wear any of the other versions first even the cool spray)
2. Guerlain L'homme Ideal extreme easy win. Only got decant but I like it (Strongly with you intensely still to sweet and synthetic not terrible but not for.me)
3. Moschino Toy Boy is slightly better but I do not like GA Profundo at all so easy choice. TB still to unisex for me.
4. Armani Code Absolu easy easy win. Dior homme 2020 is okay just very unremarkable. No distinct character at all. Pleasant but forgettable as well.
5. Mont Blanc Explorer easy win for me so easy to wear and great for price. I prefer the opening of this to Aventus sometimes though Aventus is much higher quality. TF Beau De Jour I just do not like. Only had a sample so only wore it a couple times. I hated it with my skin and zero way I was going to pay that price for it.
Tom Fords Beau de jour is one of the best fragrances out there. Every man should have it in there collection.
Beau de Jour is an amazing fragrance. It smells of class and sophistication. Definitely hyper-masculine, it is for those that want to smell like a classic man.
You gotta have more than two pendejos on your chest to rock Beau de Jour. It's definitely not for the eyebrow waxing type of man.

Honestly I smelled Explorer the first time and then thought I needed that, I thought it was the best thing ever.
Now, a few months later I pretty much never wear it, I'm not really into it any more, also I think it's MUCH better on clothes than on my skin. I prefer the smell that way. It's too agressive for me.

I say this with a relative amount of certainty: 2018 will be the last great year for Designer releases for the next 5 or so years with the current blue craze...
I feel like the Sauvage Parfum and the BDC Parfum both can be skipped. Just commenting this because Sauvage was the first mentioned but I’d they are both for cooler weather - cool weather versions of their fresh stuff there’s so many better options out there for cool weather. Formal casual work date whatever there’s 1000 options that are 1000 times better than those 2.
Thank you for the vid, Ashton! I am divided - I sampled both Tom Ford and Montblanc releases you talked about and decided NOT to purchase them. Both of them were not inspiring to me :-). Profondo - on that one i am still undecided. Pasha de Cartier - need to check on. Dior Sauvage - decided against purchasing this one too. Instead went with BDC. Guerlain - most definitely! :-)

While the downside of Explorer isnt harsh clumsy chemicals, or really even its designer clone status, is that the bit that they changed give it a generic background blend that smells pedestrian. Many worse things out there, but its no masterpiece.
