This is the best cinematic experience I’ve had on Netflix since Mike Flanagan’s Haunting of Hill House.. Beautifully shot, incredible acting, and a remarkable adaptation all the way through.

The cinematography and production were insane. These creative values alone provide visual treats, allowing you to appreciate the story as it slowly unfolds. The art direction authentically transports you back to the 60s. This artistic treatment did justice to the book, with 8 episodes covering more details than the movie. Looking back, 'Talented Mr. Ripley' was way too sunny and rushed.

'Talented Mr. Ripley' was way too sunny and rushed. God, the B&W was the best decision ever.

As an Italian I enjoyed seeing Ripley being shot in some of Italy's most beautiful places and
hearing the actors speaking Italian (good job by the way!).
I loved the dark tones, the black and white, the cinematography.
    9/10 for me.
Andrew Scott is a master of the craft.
    Everything he does is superior.
Last autumn I flew to London just for one night, to see him perform in Cechov's Vanya.
He played all the characters himself.
    What a ride!!!
    Perfection.

Are Italian police this terrible in real life? That detective is the worst I’ve ever seen

The cinematography was excellent. I had seen "The Talented Mr. Ripley" several times and enjoyed it but it wasn't a particularly beautiful film . This version is so well crafted. I love films that include the location as a character and this certainly does. Best use of B&W I have seen in a long time.

I enjoyed a darker side to this version. The visuals and sound design were epic.

I don't understand one thing from the ending. Why doesn't he leave Venice? He has a new identity and I expected him to leave his last known adress but he hangs the Picasso in his house in Venice? Does this mean you should suggest that the police officer probably found him within a few days?

The trans-Freddie thing ruins an otherwise totally immersive experience. They might as well put in a dog in to play the part instead of a nepo-baby girl playing a guy. Or JUST MAKE THE PART A WOMAN because it's not at all a gender important role. Also, PS Hoffman played the balls off that role in the first movie and THIS is what you give us for the detailed version?

Yep, the kid of Sting. What frustrated me the most is that otherwise she (they) seemed to be a very talented actor but my confusion about the gender thing ruined it all.

I found this show mediocre and bland at times. It lacked the glamour and glory that the 1999 Anthony Mingella "The Talented Mr Ripley" adaptation had.
