Float Fishing for Mullet

- I have a crack float fishing for mullet with Sam Pitcher. If you follow my vlogs, you'll know they have so far got the better of me, despite my best efforts on previous trips. They are my nemesis and I seem to be cursed. So given the chance to go fishing at Weymouth Harbour was too good to miss - even while the mayfly are coming off the rivers in their thousands. So armed with my commercial coarse fishing float rod, I head South to see if I can finally catch myself a decent thick lipped mullet on bread flake. I've caught plenty of thin lipped mullet on baited spinners before, but it's been 20 years or so, since I last caught a thick lipped mullet on bread

Great video Charles. Lots of good tips. Difficult to guess weights on film but closer to 4 than 3.5. No stopping you now.
Thanks 😊. Went back two days later…and blanked 😅
Nice vid Charlie 👍
Nice one they are so tricky to catch! I reckon 4lb+
Thanks! I seem to be getting worse at guessing weights of fish instead of better. Tricky indeed but now I’ve managed one, I’ve got the itch to try again for more. I can see that growing as catching becomes less important with age. Greater challenges and all that. Thanks for commenting btw.
Thanks. Yeah they’re the most fickle of fish. Do my nut!
Hello would a piece or bread catch mullet without wetting it ..
Hello - the bread is dry when it’s put in the hook. Is that what you mean?
@@Fishwish thanks..I thought you made the bread soup to put it on the hook ..
@@user-ks7ri4is2y I see - no the bread soup is just to attract them. A dry piece of soft white bread is then squeezed onto the shank of the hook, leaving the flake nice and fluffy around the hook point.
