    One of the best vacations of my life was spent on a week long trip to Guatemala. We stayed in a beautiful hotel in Guatemala city and booked a tour where we got to drive to lots of wonderful and amazing places. We hiked an active volcano, climbed ancient ruins, took a boat along a river to explore the jungle, even got to visit a local family. This country is amazing, wish I was there with you! safe travels!

      Sounds amazing Nitram. Make sure you tune in for the next episode. We're going to Antigua, where you most likely hiked the active volcano.

    I bought my every day Shopping Bag in the Market at Panajachel. Funny thing was it smelled of wood smoke so strongly that it lived outside on the porch of whatever Hotel we stayed in until I got it home for a deep cleaning. Antigua is one of my family's favorite destinations. We have Izamal that has a very similar vibe and is less than a half an hour away . Great Haircut BTW!

    Good one guys San Pedro sure has changed since 1990. Naturally. Back then we paid about 5$ a night for a clean room .I noticed in one scene that a woman was glaring at the camera.We encountered that as well and were told that some Mayans believe a photograph can take from ones soul. Seeing that sure does help to remember those wanderlust years. Thank you. You both are very enjoyable to watch. Sorry you three. How could I forget Jager! See you in two weeks. Daydreaming Canuck.

    I believe that this question in best for Matt, Do you find more selection, better price, and overall better condition on vehicles in the South West of the US than compared to Hawaii? Mahalo nui loa brah.

    • @TheTravelingTogetherJournal
      @TheTravelingTogetherJournal  Před 5 lety

      Definitely.
      Used vehicles are generally cheaper on the mainland than Hawaii. Everyone drives in the west, so city areas will have tons of selection. 4x4s are way cheaper than on the islands and if you get into the deserts in the south west you'll find way less rust. Happy hunting Guy

    Why do they have a Spanish school there? Is it just for tourist?
    Looks like a great time staying there.

      @TheTravelingTogetherJournal  Před 5 lety +1

      I think tourist started going there for the lake and someone started a Spanish school and now the area is known as one of the best and cheapest places to do Spanish lessons I think there are at least 4 schools in this town and more on other parts of the lake.
      The town has a cool mix of touristy and authentic feel to it. Kind of hard to explain.

    • @TheTravelingTogetherJournal
      @TheTravelingTogetherJournal  Před 5 lety +1

      @@rubylimey7614 Corazon Maya Spanish School. The town is safe. From what I hear the other towns on the lake are safe as well, but when we were in the area there were multiple reporting of armed robbery on some of the side roads leading into the area. We met a motorcyclist later that said he was shot at while driving one of the not-recommended routs, but the information is out there to avoid the known danger zones. If you are considering a long road trip like this, I suggest joining the pan American travelers facebook group. It's a good source of recent information from people who are on the road.
