I have painted several pieces of my furniture (using my favorite, Dixie Belle Paint). I painted three bedroom dressers, two end tables, a dining server and my kitchen cabinets. It has saved me a lot of money over purchasing new pieces. What I lack is the vision to do embellishments to my pieces.

I have practiced on small things like wooden shelves, picture frames, small chairs just to get the feel of how everything works. I did a small cabinet with a whitewash top and chalk white for the rest of it. It wasn’t Dixie Belle, but it was expensive. Didn’t care for the coverage, it took three coats to cover the wood. I have a whole house full of out dated furniture, I’m excited to keep going! Thanks Christina!

I think I was about 11 years old when I painted my first piece of furniture. We had a set of bookcases, which my dad asked me to paint. I was too young to say “no” to my dad. But first had to remove the 4 coats of oil-based gloss enamel paint with paint stripper and sandpaper. (No electric sander). I don’t remember how long it took me to do, And it’s amazing I continued to paint throughout my life. As the last 59 years have passed, paint products have certainly improved and it is definitely easier to paint furniture now. But the steps to paint furniture are the same: clean the furniture, sand it, dust it off, carefully paint, sanding between coats, and use a top coat to protect the finish. As for the bookcases, I still have one, repainted several times.

Christina!!! I love your content and I watch and rewatch and gain confidence! I started because the same thing you said motivated you to start painting, I want to change some of my own things up. I feel like I can get “new” furniture and have massive satisfaction! I just want to paint! Thank you for creating these amazing videos!

Beautiful piece. I’ve refinished furniture, but never painted any. Can’t wait to try Dixie Belle.

Very timely information. Have been frozen from beginning a project out of fear of messing it up. You just gave me step by step instructions and settled my paint color choice. Perfect! Thanks so much!!

Thank you for keeping it for people who don’t rework whole dresser. Thank you for keeping it real.

I love the silk line for all types of furniture! It’s my absolute favorite and it’s very simple once you get through the learning curve. I just finished a media console with Silk in Deep Sea, I need more 🤞🏼
