Having watched many documentaries on the Vietnam War, the Ken Burns production is the first to move away from the broad war strategy, the leaders and their decisions and actions, but to show the Vietnamese as people - individuals instead of 'screaming hordes of warlike robots'. I found that very moving and what we see are just people doing what they believed was the right thing, just like many Americans did, in a war about which all leaders on all sides lied and lied and lied again!

Tran Ngoc Toan gave the truest account of the Vietnam war I ever heard. He saw all sides, then and now. He makes no judgements, but just tells it the most objective way he sees. My dad had a similar experience to this man. I have much respect for him. What he says about the current state of Vietnam- run by elite powerful communists who have held power since the war- is very true

No judgement ? When he was told his wife was in Virginia he showed no respect for her, he did not try to go to her. What sort of man disrespects his wife like that ?

It’s Good to See This Warrior, has had his Experience, both Good and Unfortunate, and Come to Terms with it.
I Would Love To See Him be Able to Explain and Express his Feelings and Thoughts About His, Experiences with South Vietnam, and The Communist, so at The Very Least, this Generation Will Know the Differences, to make an Informed Decisions About The two.

I’m so sorry you had to go through all of that. I’m sure it was horrible, I cant even imagine. The war didn’t turn out the way we had planned, and the the American people turned against the war and we had to leave.

It also should also be known that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a US psyop. Done in order to manufacture consent from the public etc needed to declare war.

When i came across this video i thought it would be great that they interview him, but when he was told his wife was in Virginia and he didn't contact her, i lost respect for him. His wife came to states same as him, she only wanted to be free of the communism just like him. SO why would he just ignore her presence ? I feel he is lacking honor in this manner.
