- On June 1, Andrew Jager talked about the Baptisia varieties blooming in our display gardens now. Baptisia is easy to grow and will thrive with little maintenance. There are many potential applications in the landscape including meadow plantings, as a backdrop in borders, or as a specimen. Hardy in zones 3-9!

Very helpful info. Love when you compare. Exactly what we need when putting one in a design. Pls keep doing these.
You are spot on. Ours sure pop'd off around Memorial day 🎉
Great tour of baptisias!
Thanks for this video!
The music was distracting and loud.
Love baptesia
Yes, music should not be playing during the talking.
I have an all white baptisia that I bought many yrs ago. Can't remember where but seem to recall that it was a native?? Thanks for this video on baptisia,. Great job.
It is a native cultivar!
Very helpful! I was trying to decide on a baptisa all winter but just couldn’t find a good visual comparison. So, this video was great to watch. Which ones do a second flush, just the Lemon Meringue?
What’s the best stage to harvest for cuts and how do you condition? Thx
Thank you. It would have been helpful if you would add some instructions on care and pruning if needed.
The plants you are showing are they one plant and how old are they before they get to that size?
How old are each of the very large Baptisias you showed? Do they each grow at the same rates, and are all of the various colors in the same hardiness zones?
They could be anywhere from 5-10 years old. These Baptisia are all considered slow growers and could take up to 5 years to mature. The hardiness zones are 3-9.
Great video - which is the longest blooming? Thank-you
The weather plays a huge role in bloom time, so it is difficult to answer that question as it can depend year to year. If it gets hot early in the season, they will all flower quicker.
Where can I buy it?
Hwre can I buy it
I think Proven Winners carries some of these.
Fix nitrogen
Do any of these selections successfully host butterfly larvae? I am very interested in the performance of hybrids as host plants and nectar plants vs species and varieties.
Can't match natives for benefits to wildlife & toughness, sorry
