"Magic Eraser" works great to take off the shine on modern dolls too and no danger of damaging the vinyl. Hope you were able to fix her lashes.

I cut some paper around her eyes and stuck it on them and sprayed her with mister super clear 4 or 5 times and now she isn't completely matte but she has a very pretty subtle shimmer on her but if you want her completely matte just add another layer

Okay - but there are a few different kinds of MSC. MSC matte UV cut will remove ALL shine. MSC flat will remove a lot of shine. MSC clear will remove a little shine. Just be careful which one you buy, is what I'm saying.

I’ve been tempted to remove shine from my Bella. I knew that plastic plus the heat was going to mess up her eyelashes. Better to carefully wrap her head with plastic wrap so you can control it from pushing her eyelashes down. I wonder if just a rubber band pulled down below her lashes would have held her hair down as needed.
I was surprised to see you using those big pads to wipe her face instead of Qtips. I found some mini versions of Qtips that nail stylists use, to use for tight/small areas.
Having said all that, thank you, she looks wonderful!

I only have a couple dolls the only one with the shiny face was Kia Heart, well she’s not shiny anymore. She isn’t completely smooth like Bella but she looks great and apart from a little lipstick and an eyebrow I feel I did a good job, she looks much better can’t wait to dress her up!

Another way to remove the shine is to cover their hair, makeup and stuff and using Mr Super Clear Matte/Flat whatever, I've heard of other people doing that and just re glossing the lips
