[Live by the Studio] The Walk Home (Featuring SDSU Wind Symphony)

“The Walk Home” is a heartwarming contemporary piece that explores the journey of finding home. Home can be a place, a person, or perhaps one has found music to be home. While it is not meant to be perfect, it is meant to feel safe. Everyone deserves to feel at home, where ever that may be. This work provides a whimsical musical experience that is suitable for a beginner to intermediate concert band.

Filipino-Thai composer Maile [Mai] Pacumio (b.2002) writes for mixed media. Growing up, Maile has been inspired by her parents’ musical talent and listening to music on the radio. Eventually they began taking piano lessons and quickly gained an interest for composing, which later turned into something they would study in college. Their style can be described as adventurous and whimsical, with sprinkles of nostalgia. Maile's works have also been performed with the SDSU Symphony Orchestra, SDSU Wind Symphony, San Diego New Music, and other local music groups. In addition to ensemble scoring, she composes for linear (video) and interactive (game) media collaborations. With every composition, she hopes to create a memorable journey for the listener, one that can venture outside of reality, even for just a moment. Maile creates music under the artist name "Maisic" which can be discovered on Spotify, Apple Music, and all your favorite streaming platforms.
