  • Is Pune worth visiting? Manisha and I spent 3 days there, visiting all the sights and trying all the local food. We'll give you our honest review of Pune and whether it's worth your time.
Pune, located in the western state of Maharashtra, India, has a rich history, a vibrant cultural scene, and beautiful natural surroundings. The city offers a wide range of activities to explore and enjoy. Some of the best things to do in Pune include visiting the historical Aga Khan Palace, which played a significant role in India's struggle for independence, exploring the beautiful Shaniwar Wada Palace, and wandering through the charming lanes of the old city.
For nature lovers, a visit to the serene Pashan Lake or the stunning Sinhagad Fort is a must.
Pune is also known for its delicious street food, so make sure to indulge in some local delicacies like vada pav and misal pav. Overall, Pune is a city with a unique blend of history, culture, and nature, making it a must-visit destination for any traveller.
The city has been an important centre for various dynasties and empires throughout history, including the Maratha Empire, the Peshwas, and the British Raj. The city is home to several other historical sites like the Shaniwar Wada Palace, Lal Mahal, and the Parvati Hill Temple, which give a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of Pune.
Pune's history and cultural legacy make it an important destination for anyone interested in India's past.

Just a small correction: Maratha empire was not just from Central India. There is a colloquial saying in Maharashtra- Maratha empire spanned from Attok(Punjab, Pakistan) to Cuttack(Orissa, India). It was the Marathas who destroyed the Mughals and made them their vassals before the British took over all of us.

Honestly as a North Indian I liked only Vada Pao, Pao Bhaji and Mastani-falooda special Icecream there as a local food but the most lovable thing about Pune is weather.. go there in Monsoon season between June-September, you will love the weather. Eating Vada pao and drinking chai besides the Pune-Lonavala highway, I still can't forget🥰🥰 Best City for living.

Although I'm a Punekar so I'm biased but the best description of Pune was from a colleague who had shuttled for work between other major cities in India before settling here. He said 'Pune is big and small at the same time. 8th largest metro in the country with an IT base and great educational institutes, vibrant night life and a superior value of living which is what you expect from a Tier 1 city(which Pune is) but when u need it, it manages to give you spaces within itself in the form of gardens and forts and cosy little lanes and bylanes which makes u wonder whether you're in a metropolis at all'...

I've been to India and what sticks in my memory was the heat (central India), the crowds of people and the dirtiness. My son asked me if I would like to go back to India and I told him, "No, because it's too dirty and I don't like crowds (I'm very introverted)." But since watching this video Pune would be one place I'd like to visit. Thank you for making these vids. Keep up the good content creation.

Even in Pune or the cleanest Indian city Indore (in central India) you will find it.

He coined the term Hindavi Swaraj and took and oath to free India all foreign rule aka Mughals. We're a very touchy lot when it comes to our cultural pride.
Just as an example, he took an oath of blood on a Shiva linga for Hindu swaraj at the age of 16.

As a person who's been living in Pune since so many years,i find pune so far the best and very well balanced city.the weather here is easily tolerable;never too hot, never too cold, never too rainy, never too humid indeed very balanced And it's a heaven for someone who prefers to live in a metropolitan city but also likes a countryside touch. No floods,no frequent earthquake or other natural disasters,we have traffic but not as much compared to other metropolitan cities,no water scarcity, top notch educational institutions, greenery,no often power cuts, and the living expenses are not that high too and jyada pollution bhi nahi hai. which is why it's preferred by students to study here. I consider myself lucky 🤌🏼♥️

    It's such a great city!
I used to stay here for my studies and visited this city often in between even after completing my studies over here. I am talking about the period between 2003-2010 and during those days, I swear this city used to be heaven! Really, the weather, the surroundings, and everything else about it used to be so unique and enviable actually.....
But now, sadly it has changed very much. It has become so congested..... Everywhere there are flyovers and flyovers and one has to experience long traffic jams even in those flyovers!
At that time, this was definitely not the case. People have literally destroyed the hills and beautiful natural surroundings of Pune, just to build their residential complexes or open an educational institution and what not. This city has been heavily urbanised at the cost of sacrificing it's most valuable asset.... It's precious natural surroundings!
During my time, in summers temperature went to maximum of 22 to 30 degrees. And in the winters it used to dip to as low as 4 degrees, often! Rainy season used to be lovely over there, with fog all around the massive hills surrounding it.
That Pune I remember is lost now. It has become a dream now, which may be, can never be fulfilled now. 😔
    Thanks Pune for everything.

You observation is correct. I used to spend my summer holidays here with my mama in early 90s. And as we entered Pune it used to feel like completely different city out of India. Calm, clean and organised. Sadly not any more. Your comment on summer and winter temperature is also spot on. Poorly planned and designed rods and flyovers have spoilt the aesthetics of city.

Amazing Vlog Karl. Just a correction, Pune is Tier 1 city and the only Metro in India which is not a state capital. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaz were the ruler of India and the empire spread to present day Pakistan. You should live in Pune west, which is well connected to Pune Bangalore Highway as well as Pune Mumbai expressway. It’s the city if hills, wherever you roll your eyes, you will see them. It’s also the city with highest Rooftop solar installations in India.

I'm from Nashik but living in Pune....yeah Pune is clean , organised compared to other big cities of India...and yes food from streets is crispy, spicy and cheap...Pune is called Oxford of the east coz of its incredible educational institutions and disciplines 👍
Edit - the weather is the best it's convenient that's what I mean(but not as good and cooler than Nashik tho🙂)

Nashik is better than pune .
Just a couple of good colleges and companies and its set. Best city in Maharashtra.
      Coming from a punekar.

So glad I never thought you beautiful couple would visit our Pune City. Thanks for coming to our beautiful city. You miss so many great spots in pune. You should have visited one of the biggest shopping mall here in pune called Phoenix market city. You were actually very close to it but better luck next time. I'm glad you have explored Koregaon park, this is one of the most posh and expensive locations in pune. God bless both of you.
