Pete, for those of us who shoot over 100 on a regular basis - Thank You for this video!
The Golf Gods are cruel masters and we the unwashed masses all think in our heads we could be a scratch golfer "I would have been great if only I had *drove *chipped *putted like I know I can 10% of the time"
Your honesty in this edit is massively appreciated - I'm sure watching the 11th hole again would have been painful to review
Looking forward to the next one in which I'm sure you'll shoot a Tigeresque score again!

Hats off to you Pete. I can only imagine how raw that experience felt. Thank you for sharing not only the focus and practice leading up to the comp, as well as the results of that, but the weakness and oversight that was there as well. It is one of the things I love about the Quest for the Open series. There is so much to this game, and you are at a level that I never see myself achieving. It is exciting to "share the journey" with someone of your skill and get to live the experience a little bit via your videos. Keep it up mate!

Great job getting out of your head and back on pace after the 11th that is a great lesson in not compounding mistakes. Watching you and Rick got me back into golf after a bad back injury which kept me from walking for a year and then off the course for another year after that. I developed a serious fear of golf and even went so far as to sell all my clubs. Watching both your channels has reignited the passion and I went to the range for the first time in 2 years the week before last and had a fantastic time with my dad. I can't thank you enough for your hard work on CZcams sharing with us both the good and the bad and for the great coaching. I truly do appreciate it as thanks to you guys I'm back at it.

I love the honesty here. This is why this is such a valuable series to watch. I imagine all golfers who take the game at all seriously have had that period of panic, where the walls close in and the self-doubt creeps to the front of your consciousness. "The Demons" as Mike Malaska calls them. The fact that you were able to collect yourself and play better immediately after such a nightmare hole is the real lesson here. So often with amateurs that nightmare hole bleeds over for the next several holes and becomes a disaster. Such a great series. Keep battling on Pete.

As a guy coming back to golf after 15 plus years off, and struggling to score despite knowing I can play better, it's actually very good to see everyone has their own version of that struggle. I enjoy all of your videos and being honest with us over all aspects of your game makes you just that much more enjoyable.
Over the weekend I played a course that I hadn't been on in 3 years. It is a premier local course and very challenging. In 2017 I had just taken up the game and really had no business playing this course. I shot around 120 and lost 14 golf balls. On Saturday I was so nervous teeing it up at the beginning but once I got the first shot into the fairway it was nothing but smiles for the rest of the day. This time I shot right at 100 and lost no balls. The 13 three putts were my down fall but coming off of 18 I felt so great. This video just keeps me motivated to keep practicing.

Amazing reflection Peter, I think the most telling and useful thing that takes no talent at all, is what you mentioned about seeing the golf course. It’s so easy to get lost in a round thinking about your grip, or swing keys, or blowing up mentally...but simple things like watching other players shots into a green, how they roll out...actually looking at the slope of the green as you walk up the fairway instead of hanging your head and grumbling about being in the bunker. Really making use of all the info available to you is something you need to constantly remind yourself of. Great series as always!

Thanks for your honesty Peter, I can assure you that we can all learn from this along with you and the same for the mental side of the game when things don’t go our way and we have to shut out what just happened, relax, refocus and go again.

Love how honest you are about the 11. Makes me feel better that it happens to you. I played my first comp in about 20 years on sat and had 2 11s. Mental game is deffo tough to work on.

Bounce backability is all important in this mad and beautiful game. Thanks for sharing so openly. It's been a while since I saw an eleven though 😬. Looking forward to seeing how you get on in the upcoming comps, good luck, putting looked good!

Loving the series Peter! It takes a huge amount of courage to talk us through what happened on the 11th hole. I still remember Kevin Na carding a 16 in a PGA tour event years ago so don't feel bad. If golf was an easy game, we'd all be on the tour! Best of luck to you in the future and crossing my fingers to see you at the Open soon! By the way, we have great weather year round here in northern California and plenty of spectacular courses to play!

So much admiration for your honesty and openness. It’s easy to disguise blemishes online and selectively create an unrealistic image of perfection, particularly for pros. But that’s not how life is. I’m a professional performer myself and understand this conundrum as much as anyone. It’s so refreshing to see that even the guys at the top of their game can have bad days and need to keep working at it. We never, ever see that online. Thank you, Pete. Also great to see how much your working at your game and how much you want to step up to the next level. Really inspirational and makes me feel less of a chump for spending 6 hours a day in the practice room. Will be waving the Finch Flag at The Open when it finally happens.

Love that course where the have a “tardis” available when the gale force wind and rain arrives! I’m a single digit handicapper Pete - once had a 17 on a par 4 in the Rocky Mountains (the weather was diabolical - but then again - 17!!!) Love these vlogs Pete- keep working!

    I love your vo
Logs. I know how nerves can break you down. Try to remember that you can’t overcome without a struggle.
