âI do not like barsâ
-Oksana Chusovitina
-every gymnast ever
As a gymnast, I actually liked bars. It was the only event I was ever able to get gold medals on.
i love bars lol
Suni Lee says it's her favorite event.
its kyla ross' favorite event
Ah, bars are okayâŠ..you just have to find one close to your home that serves food too. That way you can drink more.đ€Ș
These clips make me appreciate the difficulty of bars even more. The athletes who nail their routines make it look so easy, but it really isn't.
I knew it's extraordinarily difficult to perform these acrobatic moves; but until seeing even those head and shoulder above others (Mustafina, Biles et al) doing horrific swings... that I came to appreciate Nastia Liukin's words: that if you make one tiny error, at the beginning, the error just keeps growing from one move to the next and eventually you'd just fall off (which normally isn't more than a second or two)...
This was why Suni Lee's UB routine, to get the Bronze --- she and Nina Derwael (first Belgian to ever win a medal in the Olympics) were considered two of the top best on the UB --- was supposed to have been a miracle, since she started out wrong & yet was somehow able to go through with the whole thing without falling!
The number who still have their toes pointed when they land/are falling is impressive I'd be flailing like I'd dropped off a cliff
They practice falling for that reason.
I mean itâs like a 6th sense for us to always be pointing our toes
and yelling lol.
we was jus saying this. gymnasts are incredible athletes and have such good form even wen they makin errors
Yeah, your supposed to do that because you still get deducted on the fall.
Love this event but it's like men's pommel horse, all about timing. As soon as the gymnast hesitates or gets the slightest bit off on a move, a fall is coming up...
Pommel hourse is by far the most boring event in gymnastics
@@majorlazor5058 but still the hardest in MAG and BB in WAG
The amount of spotters that are obviously not paying attention is killing me.
Most of the time the gymnast is able to land on there feet but if they donât land just right they could be paralyzed.
But the athlete could say: "You shouldn't have touched there". Watch her expression at 2:24.
@@mickcarson8504 Nah the coach did what he could. She was just shaken up from that fall
The amount of repeating and fkn boring ads is what is killing me. Dogs pawning on laptop keyboards, gambling and more gambling. These people are unbelievable, worse than 5 year olds telling adults how to live a life of ignorance. WTF, really? Piss them off! CZcams is infested with repeating and totally annoying ads, every day same bullshit, same bullshit! đĄ
*their
2:23 failing a Mo Salto must be TERRIFYING. That blind grab is so scary. You don't even know if you're gonna fall until like AFTER you've grabbed (or not) the bar
I question whether this skill is even appropriate for the female body. Watching it I'm just waiting for a shoulder dislocation from the type of drop that comes out of it. Maybe that's why only Chinese do it?
Good reflexes from the coach on that one.
That spotter earned his money that day though!
@@shieldmaidenforchrist1310 itâs definitely okay for the female body, what makes it so difficult on the UB is itâs harder to get quick swing on the girls bars and you have to do your giants so that you donât hit your feet on the bar. Doing it on high bar is far easier.
Honestly this would be so much easier for so many tall gymnasts if the bars were further apart. McKayla struggled so much with hitting her feet on the bars and it hurts so much...
I honestly feel like it's unfair to harshly deduct taller gymnasts if their feet hit the bar since it's so much harder for them not to. I've seen them bend their knees a little to avoid hitting it and they STILL get deducted. I guess they're still deducted the same since nina durwael is a bars champ and is a taller gymnast
I think that might be a safety hazard, to be honest. A lot of people struggle to get between the bars for various reasons and needing to cover more distance might make it more difficult and dangerous. Maybe just make the distance be based on height for everyone instead.
Is there any reason the bars aren't adjusted to what the gymnast wants??
@@Cloudy4Days they usually are adjusted in major competitions
@@murasakino101 I watched the Belgium channel at Nina's All around final and they told that for Nina the bars were adjusted in height because she's taller. But not further apart. Which makes sense beause all the transfers from high to low of the other way around would be more difficult?
1:09 She did a double stag handstand on barsđ
đđđ
That was the funniest one lol
I was impressed, girl was doing yoga and uneven bars all at once.
She *almost* saved it, man.
whenever i see UB fail compilations, i always think âwhy even have the spotters?!â
Exactly! I only saw 3 spotters actually try to catch and help their gymnast. Smh
I think sometimes it's just safer for both gymnast and coach to just let them do their thing and fall on their knees or belly, like theyre trained to do. It's only sometimed that theyre really in danger. Ive heard people say this, I dont have any experience in thid matter.
@@mojovr5003 yeah, but there are times where a gymnast could get seriously hurt and the coach does nothing. That's why we have video compilations entitled "times spotters actually helped".
Belly flops, according to gymnasts, are rarely painful as long as you keep your body tight. I'm sure they have plenty of practice on softer mats at handling that situation.
@@shieldmaidenforchrist1310 they do. Even in regular gymnastics gyms for younger girls, there are softer mats to practice how to handle the falls. My worst fall, we didn't have one of those because we didn't think that I would fall jumping to the high bar so I landed on a rough mat, flat on my back.
Poor Vanessa Atler could probably fill this video alone...
I will never understand why her coaches wanted her to keep the comaneci
I have to admit I cut a few of her falls out because I didn't want to put a spotlight on that đ
@@sporteverywhere vanessa alter bars and rebecca ross beam :(
Sheâs said she is glad Steve didnât take it out. She never wanted it out, she was the one saying to keep it in. But sheâs also aware of being a people pleaser soooo đ€·ââïž
Girl shouldn't have been doing bars to begin with
Bars are so hard. All the releases. I am amazed everytime a gymnast does catch the bar and just goes on with her giants. It's so difficult.
2:23 guy did good spotting job actually
Most likely heâs seen her fall a hundred times during this specific skill
In light of Simoneâs recent decisions, could we get more videos about how tough it is to be a gymnast beyond mistakes made during a routine? I think we all need some motivation including Simone for that!
Especially about the twisties?
Especially Vanessa Atler. Sheâs the only other gymnast I could think to experience what Simone went through. She got mental blocks on bars because of that damn Comaneci release, beam at the 1999 world championships and all her mistakes at Olympic trials. The only difference is Vanessa couldnât speak up about what she was going through and was unable to quit because of the pressure from the adults that were supposed to help her and ended up failing her tremendously as well as the Karolyis being in charge, I think you know what happens when I say that. She didnât want to let anyone down and her mental health suffered because of it.
Good suggestion
@@reneeangely8446 That's absolutely heartbreaking! I wish more people would treat gymnasts better and not pressure or force them into doing things they're not comfortable doing in that moment. I hope Vanessa wasn't majorly injured in anyway, especially having to deal with the karolys. I also hope Simone speaking up can encourage other gymnast to speak about any issues they may have as well. Katelyn ohashi has been a big help in that sense as well since she too had to deal with injuries, body shaming, and being pushed by her so called "coach" too far
@@murasakino101 the Karoly's made America into a champion in gymnastics. People need to stop pretending like they are/were bad. You don't get to be a champion by giving up and doing nothing. You have to push yourself and many need someone else to do the pushing. You're supposed to suck it up and get the job done. No one is going to win by crying in a corner. I have way more respect for athletes that overcome and handle the pressure than those that buckle under it and give up.
@@Karamarika I know youâre not talking about Simone...who is THE MOST DECORATED GYMNAST EVER
Youâre obviously not a gymnast so honestly you should not speak on things you donât know about
Could u maybe do a video about the olympics when itâs over, like going over each gymnast and their routines as well as their medals. Also it would be nice to finally clear up on Simones withdrawal from the competition, whatâs ur opinion on that?
Yes that would be nice
I'm not sure I'll do it because we cannot use footage from Tokyo due to copyrights. But regarding Simone, it would be an interesting topic to explore.
Her health should always come first, whether it's physical or mental. Unfortunately, there's still a huge stigma around mental health in present-day society.
@@sporteverywhere do u know when will they allow footage from Tokyo??
@@sporteverywhere Tysm!! Love ur channel!
@@itz_namelezszsz4508 Considering that in 2021 I'm unable to post the videos of the WAG TF's day from London 2012, hum well probably in 20 years...
2:59 lmao pirouette queen đđđ
They fall so gracful. even tho they makin these mistakes they still so impressive. these are the types of vids that show how AMAZING gymnasts are even wen they falling they got there ties pointed đ
I remember watching a video where they said that very early in gymnast learn how to fall.
Bruh the spotters donât do shit đđ€ŠđŒââïž they literally stand and watch as the gymnast falls to the floor
They only are supposed to intervene if it looks like they are going to land on their head or neck
@@kittikat4124 well they still could get injured, i've watched people catch them no matter where they'll land
@@ameliasaurus3196 You know that unnecessarily catching midair can lead to more injuries right lol
@@bagelized welp could be worse if they actually fell
I've never seen that skill at 1.49 it's so cool
They ARE human. It was nice to see them not be perfect. It just shows how much work this takes.
Uneven bars remind us the 10000 ways in which gymnastics can actually kill
00:55 That move seemed cool
My respect for gymnasts grew even more after watching it. These ladies make it look so easy and smooth but in reality doing all these routine is hard af.
0:30 What was that fall?! đđđđ
1:07 that one is funny tbh
Still impressive despite the mistakes. I'm not even good enough to mess up like that đ
This channel is so funny...đ..thanks for the great content.
FINALLY IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR A FUNNY COMMENT COZ IVE BEEN LAUGHING THE ENTIRE TIME IM SORRY I KNOW IM NOT SUPPOSED TO LAUGH BUT I CANNOT CONTAIN MYSELF!!!!!!!!
I dunno how many empathetic "OOF!"s I uttered watching this, cringing at some of those misses! Bars were actually my favorite event when I did gymnastics, but I busted my forearm near clean in half doing a round-off backhandspring on the floor in the ninth grade and just watching gymnastics is a really tense experience for me now. The slightest over or under-rotation can be so painful, and I realize how much force is generated by just the momentum alone and how the tiniest error in judgement or position can be SO dangerous. It's really impressive what these girls can do, but the anxiety makes it harder for me to really ENJOY watching it as much now knowing how easily it can go terribly wrong...
I knew it the second I realised I had broken my arm that I would never do gymnastics again because it just wasn't worth the risk if I wasn't doing it at an elite level where it might be worth a career or something. And at 14, if I wasn't that good already, I was never going to be that good. I had seen better and younger girls get injured before too, and I decided the acrobatics were not necessary to enjoy the artistic/performance part of it and tried out for the Dance Company instead. And I did THAT with my arm still in a cast up to the shoulder! Suited me much better and not nearly as scary.
Can we get a video on the most graceful Falls?
Would it be at all possible to put the name of the gymnast for each clip somewhere in future videos? Totally understand if there's a reason for not doing it - I just like to read the comments and often don't know who is being referred to :/ Thanks!
I have a question. If a gymnast comes to a halt in the middle of a routine...like a very close pak salto...but hasn't touched ground...what is the deduction?
This would be terrifying to even learn. Thereâs so much room for error
They all got the wind knocked out of them but Iâm just glad to see that no one was seriously hurt
It shows just a handstand is so difficult on the bars, and now I think of Nastia Liukin who has really really beautiful handstands
I wouldnât want to get on those things. Thatâs just crazy.
I may could get on them but coming down conscious would be the kicker for me đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
3:09 can we talk about how she positions herself to reset there? I think it's pretty comical looking, not sure about the technical aspect of it though
I love the few where they fall off but stick the landing.
They all look like cats when they fall
It's at times like this I'm glad I don't do artistic. I'd be dead if I tried any of these.
Bars are sooo much harder than they look!
who was the gymnast at 2:58?
The thing is there is so much power and strength behind these moves, getting that full speed then falling has to be PAINFUL
If they fall the wrong way on the bar can th y just go with it and go around again and trY and pirouette? I always wondered instead of arching and coming off. I know nothing of the rules
That balance beam from Tokyo 2020 WAG AA final has something to say about that :P
1:23 so elegant thođŠ
how many tenths are deducted for something like at 1:08?
She fell so 1.000. If there is no fall the maximum execution deduction
may not exceed 0.80 per element.
Body alignment in cast to handstand (-0.30), bent arms (from -0.10 to 0.30), leg separation (from -0.10 to 0.30). Those are a few possible deductions I picked up.
The element was also "poorly executed", so judges might not even have credited it.
I think she would lose a full point because she fell
@@sporteverywhere ah thanks! â€ïž
They should give out medals for the most dangerous, the most spectacular fails without sustaining serious injuries! These ladies should all get medals!
0:23 where is this one from?
Same question! She had a rough day!
0:42 why am I laughing so hard
The bars used to be much closer together
2:59 OK COME ON THAT IS IMPRESSIVE! This NEEDS to be a skill named after her
Who is the gymnast at 2:58 at the 2006 worlds? Love your editing skills and great content! đ
Jekaterina Appel (EST) :) Thank you so much!
Poor Vanessa AtlerâŠcould make an entire vid of just her mishaps on bars
Tall gymnasts having trouble on the uneven bars*
Am i the only one looking at the spotters thinking âwow they suck at their jobâ?
I dont even know why they have spotters there. They cant catch them from falling, half the time they're not even paying attention or just stands there watching them fall.
I never really thought about the physics of the uneven bars.
Bro I love the bars they can be really cool if done right
I miss the 1 1/2 twisting gainer
The Queen of Mess on Bars: Elena Zamolochikova
These spotters need to be fired
This how hard it was before you become a real champion.
0.20 wow, the coach!!
How many times were we gonna put Vanessa Atler in this⊠đ
Ok but some of these falls are so graceful
And people expected Simone to get onto these things (her least favorite apparatus) after that vault and the twisties...
simone has been pretty consistent over the years on bars. pre 2018 comeback her bar routine was clean and simple and I think aimee did a good job in getting enough difficulty in there but keeping it simple enough for her to hit and just get through it. it wasn't her favourite but usually most consistent because of the lack of flashy skills. post Rio she was still only fell a few times domestically but they were never as bad as some of these (more due to a misplaced hand or not getting far enough over the bar)
Bars are not fun to watch anymore. The gymnasts always seem to want to get it out of the way and just muscle through it.The scores are always low. What a shame. Itâs such a beautiful event.
Well all I can say is⊠gravity⊠its amazing how a lot of them try to save it and donât end up hurting themselves severely! If it was me id be totally laughing at myself cuz im already a klutz lol
3:36 I laughed
1:54 Oh wow I didn't realize people noticed the routines of Batmaa Enktuvshin!
It's not the worst event, girls are noticed when little climbing and hanging to bars and beams. It's a spectacular aparatus. At times, mistakes do happen.
Some fall really elegantly đ
And then there is me who loved bars
The spotter are 2:24 caught her so well
I Agree
I would have included Deng Linlin and Gabby Douglas "press hs to straddle to press hs to..." as well.. Those don't look as scary but they're definitely a gymnast's nightmare.

When a gymnastics video gets popular the comment section is always a toxic dumpster fire from people that know nothing about gymnastics
I know it's just an acronym, but it still amuses me that at 2:34 you see a digital sign that reads ATTAC2014.
wait No Rebeca Bross?
U missed kerri Strugs rip off the high bar in 94' she really messed up her back
They should have taken that first release skill out of Atler's routine. She rarely hit it in competition and you could see her fretting over it.
I hope the girls that fell were ok...
Hi
The coaches who stand under / beside the bars seem useless...
Where's Simone? This whole video should have been dedicated to her cuz it's her worst event
