As a doc main, there were so many times I was hoping he'd throw out an f-smash read or up-b out-of-shield. Still some solid plays, though the Dedede player had good spacing.

Doc main here as well, and I feel ya on this one, also for me I usually utilize utilt a fair amount and I don’t think Locus used it once, we gotta push this doc meta
23dancerdude girthquake admitted himself Big D was better than him in smash 4, but girthquake is IMO the most stylish DDD
these characters are so much more fun to watch than some top tiers damn
Absolutely! Mario/Doc combos are actually insane, and Gordo combos w/ Dedede is some of the most fun stuff in the game

Nah, having played against doc I can say that he's sorta like little mac - he dominates on stage so you need to balance him out by making either his advantage or disadvantage terrible, which they did a little bit of.
@@PengyDraws I dunno, for having a much worse recovery, he's also significantly less oppressive than regular Mario. There's a reason many consider him bottom tier while Mario gets high tier.

I didn't know Mario gets high tier, but after seeing locus vs duwang I get what you're saying. However I think if doc gets a recovery buff it shouldn't be too good.

If they buff docs recovery he'd be a legit character
his recovery really isnt that bad. his upb out of shield is worth the trade off. I would rather have him run faster and increase his air drift. if his pill had a higher velocity/frame data he could zone out swords/disjoints better which is doc's main problem
I thought making Doc more heavy and increasing his power would be a nice pay off
Locus could've recovered from a lot of these situation but chooses the wrong option. Last stock he could've recovered high with down b and then jump up b to ledge.

I haven’t seen dedede’s down special once...
As a dedede main I try an use it more (usually as a last resort)
Trust me, U and D smash for DDD is wayyyy better, though u can't use it in the air
Plus bairs for DDD is incredibly good
Down B hits below ledge and has a few frames of super armor, so it's a good mixup.
@@dacrazypenguin7562 D smash is pretty weak even when partially charged. Down B doesn't have a sour spot and has armor, and you can reverse it if the opponent rolls from ledge if necessary. You can even jump while charging it to hit in the air. It's not better than U smash, they have different purposes, but it's generally better than D smash.
The pill to the down b was a nice finish.
Ah, tragic. Locus looked good, but too many full hop aerials, which usually led to him getting stuffed in the face by D's hammer. Also would've liked to see more upsmashes.
haha, I also love how hands down everyone, commentators included, is cheering for Locus. I think Big D's own mother was cheering for Locus lol
jeffersonian4 Though, i gotta say, the Doc might be one of the characters with most use for full hop aerials, because of the weird way his Nair works.
3:25 how come dedede did not grab the edge?
if you up b and aim down with the left stick it doesn't grab the ledge, you can surprise and kill people with this but only works once per match xd
No reason not to down-throw > up-smash with Doc at 0.

Dr.Mario has one of the best meteor smash on the game..... Still never used.
I just feel like, personally, that if I was good enough to compete with Dr. Mario, I would want to know how good I could be with a better character?! Just me?

I don't know why Locus keeps going for Down Throw to single Up Air at low percents. It's really strict but you can do a fastfall up air into regrab or just go for a tornado. It does more damage and sends opponents pretty far away even at 0%, I usually do up throw tornado and followup with pills.
Double up air does not combo at low precents

Maybe it lost to his hitbox. Definitely has no armor. A roy juggled the ever living shit outta me when I tried to up b onto stage lol

hold down to up b past ledge. it works with every character
I think Locus could have airdodged at the end to make it back, therefore Dr. Mario is clearly top 5
The one thing Im not a fan of is how Locus uses down tilt instead of dash, but i dont play in tourneys so what do i know

I actually don't hate his recovery. if you down B and then use your midair jump, the end lag is far shorter. down b is also great for off stage kills. my problem with doc is that i have to get in over and over and over again since he only does like 25 damage each time. where as mario has an easier time getting in, and gets more damage when he does.

Yeah i mained him for the first month or two of the game, it still just feels like I usually kill with back throw or back air, which mario also kills with at not as much later as you'd think.
oh for sure. Doc's weakest stat is definitely how exploitable and downright slow his recovery is. I was just trying to point out that a lot of people are just using it wrong by burning their jump before the down b.
He reminds me of Little Mac. A really good character, but his recovery drops his tier.

While Doc is on the ledge, King Dedede can be more aggressive by throwing a Gordon and getting an f smash ready. Also, more up smashes. Good game

Uh, cause literally any move can reflect gordos, and moves with lasting hitboxes usually are better at reflecting them cause gordos have wonky ass hitboxes.
That last sequence is fucking bullshit, buff Doctor Mario, that was just plain unfair.

this set just makes me so mad because locus clearly outplayed Big D (and this is just me being unbiased as I really don't follow either of these players that much) at almost every neutral exchange, and locus just dies because of Doc Recovery. I can't imagine how frustrated he must have felt after that happened to him.
Honestly if they just slightly increased the distance his up B sends him and severely reduced the end lag on his down B I feel like he would be a much better character.
