I love your videos Forrest! Like everybody else says, the simple but detailed explanations really cut through the opinion and extrapolations that come with most coverage of these incidents and get straight to the facts.
They're also fascinating to me as a Scot because the use of Google Earth as a visual tool really highlights the geography and layout of American cities and their relationship with notorious incidents/people. It helps me visualise it, but its also an exercise in cultural geography. Keep it up!

Also lived in history rich Mississippi for a long time. Ghost of Mississippi was filmed there. The home of Medgar Evers where he was assinated and I believe used in the movie, now a museum, is there as well. His office I believe was in downtown Jackson, MS on North Farish Street above the Big Apple Inn eatery. For those interested in the 60s civil rights movement will find it interesting. Farish Street was the hub of black culture in Jackson during segregation and many of the famous, including Louie Armstrong, performed and stayed at motels in that area.

He participated in a lynching. What should he gotten instead? Six months probation and stern talking to? He could have been the voice of reason, but instead toed the good-old-boy line. You can make the argument for death penalty in this case - it was a lynching. No matter what Arbery was doing, there was no danger until these three hate-filled dudes hunted Arbery down, guns drawn. All three murder convictions are unquestionably justified to anyone that's honest about the three men's motivations and obscene sense of entitlement. You cannot hunt and lynch your fellow human beings. But if you do, you go to prison - for life, if not under penalty of death...

The three murderers should have stayed at home where they belonged. Call the police, give a detailed description of what he's wearing and where he's going, and butt out of it. Nope. They grabbed their guns, hunted Arbery down, and lynched him. They brought everything but the blood hounds. There was no danger until they created it by taking the law into their own hands based solely on assumption. Their life sentences were earned. Every bit of it...

@@mikejones9961 so if he’s a democrat for not supporting murder, does that mean the Republican answer is murder? Very intriguing. Anyways before a war starts down here, this was quite the the story, there was no reason for Ahmaud to be on that property, honestly I can understand the suspicion. What I cannot understand is making the choice to be someone’s judge, juror and, executioner over something so petty. Guy had two trucks tailing him with a bunch of armed men yelling at him to stop, if it were the police it’d be one thing that he didn’t stop. Personally I don’t know about you but if I had two trucks high tailing me, but rather than police it’s some high on justice bub guys, im gonna keep running. Should he have been arrested for trespassing? Honestly, yes. Trespassing is an offense even if it’s in an empty house under construction. Should he have been killed? Well I feel like the answer should be pretty obvious there. His killers had every right to be suspicious of his actions, but unless the threat is imminent, they have no right to take action. Isn’t the old saying innocent until proven guilty? They had no idea his intentions, they just had a hunch and decided to roll with it, and the result is life in jail for them, and an unnecessary life lost

Great job as usual with the details, I do feel you should stay away from theorizing on hot button topics like this. We don't know that he was innocently out for a jog, that is an opinion based on what you have or have not heard. Did he have a history of being an avid jogger ? Don't think so.
We certainly do not know that he was innocently checking out electrical work to help him on his career path or was just curious about construction methods, that is pretty ludicrous and has no place in a factual recreation and takes away from the overall factual presentation. Odds are he was casing out the joint for a future theft or was planning a theft right then and there but got rattled and took off, running. So I expect the usual suspects to jump in and say "Oh so you are saying that justifies his execution !" No, thats not what I said, I am saying that in addition to known facts, logic and common sense must also be used when examining incidents like this. Guys do not go trespassing on private property construction to increase their body of knowledge.
So I would have suggested just saying he entered a private home under construction at such and such time, and left shortly thereafter without getting into speculations why. Obviously, trespassing and running were red flags to the people who actually lived there, and I think race had little if any bearing on their reactions ,, As if they would have had no reaction or suspicions if it was a white guy trespassing and running down the street. Obviously too bad they didn't just wait for law enforcement.

They weren't pointing anything at him until he lunged for it. He was "jogging" in boots, running from a construction site where he was previously seen during day and NIGHT hours. He had a history of theft, and the men's own vehicles were broken into the same day he was on video at the construction site.
You're right, the men should be serving SOME time for loss of life, but they were only trying to protect their possessions and their homes from a known criminal who had been incarcerated for theft from Wal-Mart, had taken a piece to a school basketball game, and had been seen in the immediate area where crimes had recently been committed.
If he was truly "jogging", why would he travel to this nice neighborhood? He lived in a fairly rural area and he could have easily "jogged" in his own neighborhood in boots, but he didn't. I am not trying to be mean or attack you, I am simply saying that this is not the whole story.

I believe Ahmaud would be alive today if he had not lunged for the shotgun. Everyone was on the phone to police. In fact, the cell phone video used to convict the last guy was provided to police by him as exculpatory evidence. They believed they were pursuing a criminal. They didn't have a right to shoot him without provocation, but they did have a right to defend themselves. And Ahmaud's behavior indicated he was not acting normally. It's not normal to enter a closed construction site. It's not normal to ignore someone who asks you stop. It's not normal to change directions. It is entirely normal for a criminal to lunge for a weapon. Did they profile him because he was black? Probably. Were they cops who are trained to not profile people by race? Nope. Tragic.
