  • For newer subscribers. It's not always been about a crane. This is a segment of one of my older videos. I did this job on my 50th birthday, after 32 years of climbing and working in the logging and tree service industry.

    You and several others here on CZcams are what caused me to start posting tree videos. I’m proud of my crew and labor. Great creative outlet and the community of folks that I have met since I started doing them makes it what it is today. Tree life. Thanks for everything August.     you are the reason I started making CZcams videos at the age of 40 ....even with my 20+years of experience I would watch these videos on the edge of my seat ....pumped up to go cut some trees...and I love the idea of sharing my passion and creating a passion for others

    Damn!!!! I'd almost forgotten about life on the trees before my crane. I don't think I have the nerves anymore to do it "old school"! It's a good thing my sons are stepping up. At this rate, I won't be operating anything but my desk and office chair. You're one of the few...the elite.....a real TREE-FREAK as my young grandson's puts it.👍👍👍

    August this video is bad ass! Great camera angles, big rigging and big wood. Liked the talc powder to slow the sap bleeding and keeping you from sticking to tree.....;~)

    When I retire I will spend a great portion of my time in a lawn chair pulled up at ole huni's jobs taking notes. You and your crew got me into trees 8 years ago as a hobby. Every vid inspires me as always

Being a new age self taught climber, it would be an honor to work with your crew for a week just for the knowledge and plethora of tricks to be able to use in the future!     Great vid! It sure does make the difference with the proper equipment and training. I’m still recovering from a job I did and was injured because I don’t have the right equipment. Now I’m afraid I’m going to lose everything. All because some thieves decided to steal all my equipment. So I decided to do that job and put the money to buying some of my climbing gear again..why is it when I try so hard to get ahead something like this happens..sorry i didn’t mean to bellyache on your channel sorry..again great video sir!!.

    Ive seen this video a few times showing others and just on a Augusthon while trying to do things around the house. There is always a way.... you earned that crane and the easy days that it can potentially bring you. And only after days like that do you really appreciate a machine like your nice shiny boom truck.     did you guys get that done in one day? when i gotta rig the whole spar down i always give myself an extra day, negative rigging spars kills my hips and back.

      Yes only evergreens over here, we’ve never done any other kind of tree.
      Not even the big spreading oaks, maples, cottonwoods, locusts, ash, madrones etc. etc. in videos, on this channel. . .not those either. 😶

    We use a single bollard stein and it works slick. I wish mine had the hand crank setup.

    It's always good to look back at the way you used to do things. Perhaps a job is coming when you can't reach with the crane. Then out comes all the big rigging again. What do you throw on the sap, talcum powder?

    Ur flipline is under the ring inside the rigging line... why not over it? Not enought space over it because of the open facecut?

    Cracking video! Question - at 0:47 it looks like you are anchoring the safebloc through an x-ring? It’s hard to make out. If so, what’s the objective?

      It cinches up easier and provides a little bit of space between the safebloc and the tree.

    Lol thats cool and probly gonna be a big help when theres no crane access. So how was you feeling just before you sent the first chunk out? Im always bitin saw chain in half when on a deck removal or whenever im catchin wood. Biggest ive takin is double firewood 32 to 36in though nice work August , You guys are the premier crew in oregon for sure. I saw the how to with Reg on that riggin, Gotta be a blast once you know its gonna do what its supposed too.

      Two ropes turned to one to make handling easier during the catch. Prusiks set even tension a little ways back giving room to let it run. Extra safeblock to further ease friction on the hands?

    This was made before a married Damian & this was testing out the new double GCRS stein to see how it'd handle the big stuff & it passed with flying colours, i think this was before the crane & new staff too.
