      @@TheSpaceRaceYT there is a huge difference between talking and announcing. We are hearing an announcement, not someone talking to us. This is why everyone thinks it's AI.
      This happens a lot, especially on platforms like TikTok. For some reason people think they need to make a difference voice when narrating something, with a weird high-pitched monotone.
      A more personal, conversational tone, has a huge effect on how people perceive and assimilate what you're saying. When you announce things like it's an infomercial it feels weird and artificial.

      @TheSpaceRaceYT Well, it might be capable of launching a reasonable number of Starlink V2 sats and demonstrate docking in LEO, but that's about it. Tall, thin ships landing on unprepared surfaces seems very risky to me. Having crew and cargo located multiple stories above the surface of the moon, and being dependent on cranes, or elevators, to reach the surface seems to be bad design. A dedicated landing vehicle that is designed to specifically deal with the challenges listed, would make more sense. Transferring cargo and crew in orbit around the moon would be simple if there was a cargo section with a crew compartment that could be transferred in one operation.

So you could remove the shell and make it into a carryall to transport large cargo. Remote tie two vehicles together, so you have a crew rover with a remote tandem carryall for heavy equipment. Maybe you only need a simple two passenger environmental driver cab, with an extended flat bed.

      @billweberx Před 13 dny

      @@pedrosura SpaceX has landed hundreds of tall vehicles with high CG without incident in a much stronger gravity well. It will be challenging, but I think they're up to the challenge. The most difficult part is finding a good landing zone. Once they have that, they can ace the landing. You can't lay a big rocket ship horizontally, it will fold in half. That's why SpaceX builds them vertically. The other launchers do build and move them horizontally, but they have very specialized carriers that supports the rocket along it's length. And it supports it while it brings it vertical. Don't have one of those on the moon.

      @Bulletin-mf2dy Před 13 dny

      @@TheSpaceRaceYT If you think that's practical, check out my solution to the lunar habitat below.
      The ideal solution for a SpaceX lunar habitat would be to create a modular HLS rocket.
      If the crew portion of HLS could pop off and be lowered down and moved via lunar crane, it could function as a lunar habitat without the need for any renovations.
      Next, use the crane to set down the fuel tanks, repurpose the legs for horizontal stabilizers, and attach a pre-built door onto its side, it could be converted into a storage facility, laboratory, garden, machine shop, rover parking, and etcetera.
      Once situated, both the habitat and storage facility can be covered with compacted and hardened regolith to finish the lunar base.

    • @opcn18
      @opcn18 Před 13 dny

      @@TheSpaceRaceYT The idea is wildly impractical. Nothing spaceX has was designed to bring people back from lunar orbit, the margin for safety on the PICA-X heat shield is much smaller than the margin for safety on the AVCOAT heat shield even with this unexpected erosion. At the point where you are designing several new systems including a new heatshield and longer lasting eclss (Dragon has life support for 20 person days) you might as well just redesign the heat shield on orion.
      As I was watching this video I thought you did a fair job talking about the issues but was wishing you had explained why "just have spacex do it" wouldn't be an answer.
