- This is one of those cases where you have to watch the video to understand the title. Unless you understand the reference.
The original Bebop and Rocksteady had barely any character development, but they certainly formed part of some of the most iconic and entertaining moments of the 1987 series.
DISCLAIMER: I made this video back in March 2024, so there may have been more changes in the Saturday Morning Adventures.

These two are the backbone of the TMNT franchise.
Bebop and Rocksteady’s still remain two of my fave characters of the Franchise, I feel it ain’t the same without those two.
They were the two characters that were sorely missed in the second animated series!
@@DontrelleRoosevelt agreed. And they've appeared in the 2012 series and the 2016 and 2023 films since then.
These two are at the top tier of dumb but loveble bumbling henchmen. Also unironically Shredder and Krang's adopted kids in a weird but funny way.
Gay inter species relationship? I guess this was slightly parodied in Secret of the ooze where Toka and Razar called shredar mama.
Not seeing Bebop and Rocksteady in modern day TMNT is like how we don't see the dynamic duo anymore in modern day Batman.
I mean they were in 2012’s version. Tho only in season 3 at the middle and above.
They're in both the latest movie and have made appearances in the current IDW comic series.
I'm talking in general guys. Both Robin and Bebop and Rocksteady have been absent throughout the 2000s in Batman movies and TMNT shows.
I'm talking in general guys. Robin and Bebop and Rocksteady have been mostly absent throughout the 2000s in Batman movies and TMNT shows.
@wraithrambler the 2003 show and Robin not being a thing in the Dark Knight trilogy until the end of the third movie 🤦🏻. The point I'm trying to get across is that these new iterations didn't use these characters for quite a while almost abandoning them. It doesn't matter if they were still being used elsewhere. Many define the state of Batman and TMNT in the 2000s with the Dark Knight trilogy and 2003 show since those were the most popular at the time.
im very fond of the 2012 Ciro Nieli version. They were such rich and distinct characters and tons of fun. They saved the world in the end and they did it for Mama,
The best part of that Idaho Potatoes bit was the fact they called the show a bomb, considering the same studio made an earlier cartoon based on the California Raisins. It's like they were making fun of themselves. Lol
Awesome video and classic Bebop and Rocksteady are definitely the best incarnations and Bebop my most favourite of the two and I like Rocksteady too and I remember having the original toys as a kid and boy I had great childhood memories.
I had a rocksteady figure back in the day, and it’ll ALWAYS be my fav TMNT villain hands down.
Rocksteady is adorable in the Fred Wolf cartoon.
Is anybody else still curious as to how Rock magically got a helmet after he transformed in Ninja Turtles Out of The Shadows, like how the additional hair Bebs grew also turned out purple?
The Bay films of TMNT was a mixed bag, but the one thing I feel like they got right was Bebep and Rocksteady. Their bromance was great. You could really feel like they were each other's boy through anything, even being turned into mutant critters. This part of the films really worked for me. (The elevator scene was probably best moment of the first film.)
The IDW version of them are unstoppable. 😎
I have this disturbing theory that the rest of the gang were put into Krang's disintegration unit, like the one he tried to put Baxter Stockman in because he had no use for him. That may be why you never see them again.
probably you are right, since Krang had no use for more soldiers as he had an almost unlimited number of Foot and Rock soldiers, and Shredder explicitly said he just wanted two mutant henchmen at his command, and no more than two
It’s possible.
I love the idw versions. They're just as silly as the 87 versions but way bigger and scarier thanks to the sheer destruction they can cause. First you laigh at them, then they force you to take them seriously.
Always loved them. Started with the action figures. Then especially loved the og toon versions(I also read the Archie comics growing up & since they started the same way as the toon I liked them too). I also liked 2012 versions & the live action Michael Bay. Rocksteady is my favorite & my favorite look for him is og toon with camo pants & helmet.
You know I watched the Cinemassacre review of this series and says that Bebop and Rocksteady should have been stronger than the turtles that the turtles should fear them but I think that the IDW version were like that as they nearly killed Donnie.
Their first couple appearances in the pilot, they definitely had a major strength advantage over the turtles. It took the turtles outsmarting them to handle them as they couldn't handle them in a straight fight. After the pilot they were villain decay massively as the turtles would toss them aside effortlessly.
Bebop and Rocksteady are the soul of Fred Wolf's TMNT cartoon. I'm Latino, and the best thing about cartoons has always been the freedom in how #Mexican dubbers do their thing. Bebop and Rocksteady, for example, always call Shreder "jefecito", I wouldn't know how this translates into english, but it's just an example of how hilarious the dubbing did with this pair of lovable characters ❤
Creo recordar a Bebop y Rocoso decir "Boss" a menudo, asi que esa debe ser la traducción 😋
4:34 why is this blurred out? No way was there a giant d1ldo in a Turtles cartoon episode.
It's up to everyone's interpretation. But it does look suspicious.
@4:30 AHAHAHA i never noticed that as a kid
Thanks for the amazing video ❤
Bebop and Rocksteady were my favorites since the first time i've watched the classic cartoon. Not only because of their lack of competence, but also their childish behaviour. As a kid it wasn't able not to feel related to them. You couldn't talk about the Turtles and Shredder without mentioning them as well, since they were prominent in most of the show's episodes. I also appreciate, that they appear throughout the first half of "Shredder's Revenge", which is the best TMNT game in my opinion.
I also like the versions of 2012, the IDW comics and even "Out of the Shadows", they made the whole movie more watchable, but the idea of them turning into good guys like in the series finale of 2012 as well as in Mutant Mayhem also caught me interested. But the classic ones are still the best boys out there.
5:52 I won't say it. It's too easy.
I made a version of these two that are brothers. But Bebop is Gay and Rocksteady is Asexual but they’re joined at the hip
That would make an interesting iteration of the characters.
Speaking of which, in my head-canon, I consider the Turtles to be asexually-oriented (and sterile) and also non-binary, as I believe the Turtles being outside of human society, they wouldn't be indoctrinated into the dichotomy of binary gender roles. That said, they would prefer to use the same pronouns as Master Splinter (he/him).
4:33 ummm censored?

What episode is that even from
Ian smith did a amazing job narrating 👏
There always were a lot of spin-off universes of the 1987 show. The Archie comics? The 2003 show also had alternate realities too like in the episode "Same As It Never Was." People don't really give much respect or appreciation to things like the red sky seasons or Fast Forward because they think it's what killed off the show for them. But I think they have some memorable aspects that I think should be revisited in future endeavors of the Turtles franchise.
"Never going straight again", I don't think they were straight in the first place.
It's a reference to the "Rhino-man" episode where they became superheroes.
I’m not so sure that was an innuendo to homosexuality. More specifically, a reference to criminality. Yes, I understand that’s a double entendre.
To me, Bebop and Rocksteady are the Abbott and Costello of the TMNT franchise.
I've got the Mega Bloks mini-figures of their 1987 cartoon versions and 2016 live action versions, sat on my desk right here. They're fun lil desk toys. :D
You should do about videos about the TMNT games like the arcade, Turtles in Time, or Shredder's Revenge.
Grunt is also the name of a G.I.Joe character and lugnut was later used for the name of a Transformers character.
4:34 what
Dude, do you have a discord? I would like to help you in terms of subtitles
Rocksteady wanted to be a accident lawyer… this kinda fits
In the comics they were badasses. They would always whoop either Donny or Mikey.
My favorite is rocksteady
Bebop and Rocksteady are my favorite in the ninja turtles what I like about them is they turn into mutants
I like IDW version its the duo to there logical conclusion
Can't wait to see em in Tails of Turtles show
Were you able to read the brand's 40th special? Or the number where the TMNT from the first cartoon face their alternative versions?
I personally found it a wasted opportunity. More could have been done. Let's hope for the 50th anniversary (yes, I'm very optimistic that the series will continue).
In my mind Turtles for ever takes place some time in season 3 since it was the longest one of the 1987 turtles seasons and I think it could happen specifically after its finale, trans dimensional turtles takes place I think after season 6 since the technidron is still active from 1987 Kraang and the channel 6 building still exists. The wanted bebop and rockstady 3 episodea take some time in the future of TMNT 1987 and the Saturday morning adventures according to Eric bernon who is making them take place between season 7 and 8 of the 1987 turtles
I wish they didn't stop drawing Rocksteady with his helmet.
I wonder why they did.
Probably wanted to make him more streamlined with less details is my guess. It's too bad because the arcade game and G1 action figure already made his helmeted look, iconic.
What is Rocksteady’s human name in “TMNT (2012)”? I know that he was a Russian soldier or mobster.
Ivan Steranko (named after famous comic-book artist, Jim Steranko).
@@TheTurtleNexus Thank you. That’s it! I didn’t know that he was named after Jim Steranko, though.
Any 2003 videos planned for this month?
Not this month.
@@TheTurtleNexus what about from Archie or IDW?
@@eddiejmartinez8631 Archie has one video this month... maybe even two.
@@TheTurtleNexus what are some videos you planned for next month?
@@eddiejmartinez8631 That's still in flux
These two are the original idiotic cartoon duo! Beebop and Rocksteady walked, so Beavis and Butthead could run!
I like the ones that wrecked Donatello and destroyed everything
Love that one
You mean to say....they're now GAY?
Straight as in legitimate as in non-criminal.
At 4:35 a Male Organ is blurred🙃🙃
