  • Set your Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 for your dog. The back seat makes a fantastic spot to safely bring your dog along on all your trail rides. This easy DIY project will transform your back seat on your Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 into a dog riding paradise!
I'll walk through all the steps we took to build a comfortable, stable platform for your pet to ride in comfort. This is a quick and easy improvement that does not require any modifications to your Polaris RZR XP 4 1000. Simply remove the rear seats and set in the platforms built in this video.
The best part about this setup is its versatility. You can remove both seats to maximize space for your dog, or leave one seat installed to keep your puppy company in the back seat.

Great job. It really brought the idea in my head to light. One suggestion I would have to anyone wanting to tackle this would be to use cardboard, a pencil, and scissors to get a stencil made first to lay over top of your plywood to trace your cuts. Also some little trap doors for storage in the footwells would be ideal. Thanks!

Great video. I was thinking how to do this. I searched for "make rzr better for dogs" and found your video. It didn't occur to me to take the seats out and I had no idea it was that easy. This is fantastic for the dogs.

I have a Teryx 4 I am planning to do something like this for my Lab. His name is Doug too! Thanks for giving me some good ideas!

Thanks for the helpful video. It took most of the thinking out of this project for me. I watched the video, then took on the project a week or two later. It’s not an exact copy of what you did, but pretty darn close. I just took our dogs out for a test run up and down our road, and they were smiling the whole time.

Excellent news! I found once I started things just seem to come together. The platform works pretty awesome for bringing your dogs along!

    Great idea.
I would probably try to pad the grab bar across the front.
I have a Chocolate Lab and looking into making a Yamaha RMax4 dog friendly.
By the way, Doug is a great name. Doug the dog. 😀

Thanks! Mine was kind of slapped together but works really well. I'm sure you could use the plastic floor as a template and make a very sturdy and nice-looking wood one if you want something more heavy duty!
