this woodpecker is trying to come through our window pane. its pecking is so loud that it can be heard so loud even in the video. raw footage shot through my Blackberry.

At one place I lived there was a big old oak tree out back. One time, while I was out there a young wood pecker got me laughing. The youngster was just old enough to fly and to start hunting for it's own food. It was up in that oak tree with one of it's parents, and they were both looking for yummy bugs in the tree. Every single time junior found a bug it would excitedly tell it's parent. I couldn't help it. Junior was so cute and funny, I started laughing.🤣
*suddenly the man sees a horde of woodpeckers to peck at his window while the man laughs maniacly as the horde breaks in steals* *the keys and the man breaks free, he is known as the wood pecking whisperer*
What I find amazing is the only thing keeping this bird from blasting himself backwards off that ledge is a single point of grip at the end of the middle talon on his right foot.
This is a white naped woodpecker which is native to the Indian subcontinent. When woodpeckers drum like this, it's either as a territorial thing, or as a mating thing, or both. They usually will choose hollow trees or tree limbs to drum on because the sound carries better. Drumming on this window probably carries really well since it has a whole room acting as a reverb chamber. He's probably thinking, "Wow! I've found the best thing in the world to drum on. Now if only I could figure out how to carve a hole in it I'd be set for life!"
Fun fact, woodpeckers looks for empty, echoing noises when they hit trees since this indicates wether is is hollow/dead and therefore full out insect. My man thought he found the biggest tree in existence
Look how totally unconcerned he is by the presence of the person filming him. I think they're friends and the woodpecker can see his daily food but has to knock before he can get it.
They sure are when they get up speed and start drumming, they are like a jackhammer and can damage the window sash and the glass! But it surely is a beautiful bird!
Do you mean the phone? I remember that my parents used to have one. After they got a new one, they gave it to me even though it didn’t have a line....still, brings back good memories
