IAmA bigTree There are many hints. At first, 0:20 where She says „Could it be... that what Lelouch was trying to do was.... She realised it at that moment. After that at 4:52, even Todo realises it because of saying „Could it be...“. Kallen says to him „Its Zero Todo, Its Zero.“ Like she was saying just shut up, after all that was his plan and we should just be quite and be thankful. You can also see she es crying. Bit the biggest of all hints is at 6:32 where she is saying „You might be laughing and telling me this was all according to your plan.“ -because that was his plan of course. But she isn‘t the only one to know. As I said Todo to, Tamaki also, Nunally of course, Nina, Lloyd, Cecile and also Sayoko. There were many hints before the last episode.

This is chivalry guys remember its his queens son who named him orange in the first place fir lady marriane and his highness lelouch he will farm orange forever
One thing that isn't talked about enough is how Lelouch never feels the need to explain himself. Even if there are easily avoidable consequences, he accepts his mistakes and goes along with them. This is why he's the perfect character for this ending. Lelouch isn't made to be relatable for the audience, he is written to be admired. He's literally royalty.
creating a very realistic character that can relate to everyone + create amazing plot sounds very hard to do. I fully agree on what you said, Lelouch isn't someone you can sympathize nor hate. He is there to admire everyone and enrich the main plot of the anime just like a character of a normal story. That's what maybe makes Code Geass very fun to watch and hell it hooks you in Season 1 and makes you forget that season 2 is quite downgrade (don't get me wrong R2 is still a masterpiece but I literally got confused near mid-way in the show).
@@ViperDivinity the entirety of r2 was alot better written than the latter half of season 1 LOL, useless one off characters like mao, suzaku being a dumbfuck for no reason, and "haha kill all japanese, WAIT NO!" plot twist.
i find it beautiful how suzaku, one of lelouch's first friend, was the one who took his life and continued the legacy of zero whom lelouch himself created as the stepping stone for the "kind world" euphy and nunnally wished for.
Lelouch is the best example of an Anti-Villain type character (i.e the villain who has justifiable motives). He had good intentions from the start but his motives of achieving his goal we're ultimately evil in the end. Fortunately he was well aware of the evil tyrant he had become so using the last of the good inside of him he sacrificed himself in order save humanity and create a world where Nunally could live in peace as promised. It's his heroic sacrifice that makes his death so heartbreaking even to this day.
@@AkashLiyanage-cx4po funny i came across this comment but yeah aot was rly good and i dont rly like gore animes but it rly depends on taste for this choice aot ending was mediocre
It's actually a very happy ending when you think of it, Lelouch won, in all senses of the word, and lived on through Zero in the publics eye. So basically even though Lelouch 'died' Zero lived. Very good writing.
Yeah, his plan to bring peace for a longer time was successful, and he also succeeded in making Zero a symbol of resistance, with no face. He actually got all he wanted. The sad part however, is that pretty much no one will remember him that way, which basically was his goal. He actually is a hero, but no one will and should see him that way, since that would be the base of the peace in the future...
It was perfectly happy enough for me. Lelouch died having accomplished what he wanted, although his image was tainted, the two people closest to him, Nunally and Suzaku knew the truth and had forgiven him.
Yeah after I watch Lelouch death I couldn’t watch any anime nor do anything because I was so sad and couldn’t even do anything. I get depressed for 3 hours
A detail nobody seems to note is how Karen realized everything at the last second. She says "Could it be that what Lelouch was trying to do was..." and looks at him knowing she was fooled all this time. Seconded to that, it's the moment in 4:53. Right when he was about to doubt the Zero he had in front, Karen interrupts him and says "That is Zero" firmly, understanding the role that Lelouch gave him in this story, knowing that this Zero was a messenger from Lelouch and that she had to play by the script to make everything work out. Also a nice thing is how Jerome had a little closure. Lelouch probably told him everything that was going to happen from the start and Jerome was touched by it, playing the character that Lelouch gave to him. I'd like to think that Lelouch apologized to him and planned a life for him to live easily and happily, after all, Lelouch messed Jerome's life really badly.
@@tronalddump6768 but it makes sense coz she is the one who knew everything about him. He had different relationships with all the girls and it was beautiful but it is realistic that he ended up with CC. Had it be Kallen or Shirley, it wouldn't be a good ending.
I always thought it was interesting that Suzaku and C.C. live despite their earlier wish to die while Lelouch and Euphemia die in an effort to better the world... it's so tragic!
This has to be one of the greatest endings I’ve seen in all of art, including non anime, and perhaps the greatest ending in anime. No matter how many times I watch this scene, when lelouch speaks his last words and his life flashes before his eyes, I can’t help but tear up.

Arguably the one of the most important scenes in anime history, a scheme of an intelligent mastermind as he sacrifices himself for the sanctification of humanity
You've got to hand it to Nunnally, she not only quickly made sense of the chaotic memories, she also acted upon them immediately, making sure Lelouche knew that she forgave him.
Makara I feel really bad for Nunnally to be honest. Like really, she lost her brother here. And despite all that happened, she forgave him and loved him anyway. And I think that really hit her hard because from what I understand, Lelouch was mostly all Nunnally had. Poor thing. She seems so sweet just from here
she realized it the moment she saw him smiling as he was dying, only people who know they've fulfilled their duty smile at the time of their death, I could make a long list but that's a continued story.
JingTheKingOfBandits The announcement explicitly stated that season 3 will be a few years after the zero requiem, and it's main character will be Lelouch. And "Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch" translate to "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection" in English. You were wrong and we were right. Get the fuck over it
Not really, the announcement only stated, that Lelouch would be involved in some way, not that he is the main protagonist. You should be very careful, in the end, nothing is proven. We will see, when the anime comes back. But until now, there is no evidence, just theories.
Man this death made me cry ugly tears but I’m so glad that Lelouch got to hear those words from Nunnally before he passed, that alone would have meant everything to him.
The saddest part is that when you think of most of the people who died in this show, they were barely 18 or younger not even proper adults, who never got the chance to live out their lives.
@Pinkfong Baby Shark indeed and he also redirected the hatred towards euphy to himself.. he endured everything.. truly he is the greatest mastermind in the anime verse
But that was the point. He directed the world's hate onto himself so they would be satisfied with his death and move on in creating a better future for themselves. That's the purpose of Zero Requiem. Those who mattered to him knew the truth. C.C, Nunally, Suzaku, Kallen etc. We have to console ourselves with that fact.
If all the theories are wrong, and Lelouch really died here, I will always be happy that at least his sister said she loved him before he died. He knew that what he did was unforgivable, and had already accepted that he would go out with her hating him. Her forgiving him must have made him so happy.
Shoot, I wrote it backwards. What I meant to say is that if he really died, then there would be plot holes because his sister is able to see his memories which only a code-bearer is able to do. So I think, he had the code, his sister touched him and saw the memories, he died and then the code activated bringing him back to life.
***** Oh haha. But did his geass go away after he died , is that how it works? Or is he a rare case being able to bear both code and geass (hence the name like many pointed out).
Quite possible (I sure hope so!). But it could be explained by the fact that Nunally has the "ability" to sense people's true feelings by touching their hands. Because of her blindness. It happens at least twice I believe. I remember the time when a woman was assuring her nobody would be hurt or something like that and she took her hand then said : "that's a lie, isn't it?". Everyone cried watching Endgame
I cried for both.... so yeah. Peace ✌🏻
He is alive you know that right 😅
Everyone cried when all avengers showed stark respect as he was dying
Damn. It must have been hard for Nunnally. While everyone is cheering she's over there crying her heart out being one of the few who knew the truth.
Y’all keep forgetting Kallen. She is also crying, but not as pronounced
Extra hard for Nunnally because he had tricked her into thinking he had become a greedy power hungry villain when he used his Geass on her to take the key of damocles. She only realized after he died that he played the part so she could live in a happier eorld
Is even harder for Lelouch, the man was receiving Hate even from his loved Sister, dying as a villain for the greater good, where few will recognize as a great selfless act
Zandr mandr how tf did kallen know???
I cried, not just because lelouch died, but because after all of this he stuck to his promise of making a just world. And his method of doing so, making everyone hate his mask of the emporer, and for everyone to look up to his mask of zero was brilliant. But it's all so sad because he was alone in bearing all his sins, losing those dear to him, and yet only few people got to know the true lelouch. Lelouch is one of my favourite characters now. I loved watching this anime. ALL HAIL LELOUCH

Safah Mehdavi yep!
I'd like to see how the black knights reacted after Leluch's death, judging by their expresions it seems they realized it was also Lelouch's plan. When they found out that Lelouch was using them as pawns, they betrayed and tried to assassinate him, but in the end, they realized that even Lulouch himself was a pawn that he sacrificed in his own 'game'.
“If the king doesn’t move, then his subjects won’t follow”
The problem here is the new Zero. A lot of them knows that Lelouch was Zero so they would really want to know whos the new zero and if they learned that Suzaku is the new zero, not everyone will like it especially he killed more than 30 million people.
@dude guy Im ok with that if Suzaku lives a mysterious life like he will only show up when there is like a problem but in the end he was with Nunaly means he will have a lot of exposure to the members.

@@hanitrader123 you forgot the fact that she was being manipulated and Lelouch knows there's no point in fighting that. You don't save your sister and your friends for stupid reason like "they'll be a good leader" and sht. You save them because you love them. That's who Lelouch is. That si why even in his last breath, the only one who stood by him and loved him were his sister and his friends when they found out about his plans.
And Nunally can take the death of Lelouch as a lesson to become a better leader. Plus she's guided by Suzaku.

He's literally royalty.
exactly realism ≠ good storytelling
@@kuldeepdas799 that conclusion seems to simplified compared to OP's paragraph
creating a very realistic character that can relate to everyone + create amazing plot sounds very hard to do. I fully agree on what you said, Lelouch isn't someone you can sympathize nor hate. He is there to admire everyone and enrich the main plot of the anime just like a character of a normal story. That's what maybe makes Code Geass very fun to watch and hell it hooks you in Season 1 and makes you forget that season 2 is quite downgrade (don't get me wrong R2 is still a masterpiece but I literally got confused near mid-way in the show).
fr bro i actually got pissed off about it when hr didn't explain Shirley's death properly but that's what make it good
@@ViperDivinity the entirety of r2 was alot better written than the latter half of season 1 LOL, useless one off characters like mao, suzaku being a dumbfuck for no reason, and "haha kill all japanese, WAIT NO!" plot twist.
i find it beautiful how suzaku, one of lelouch's first friend, was the one who took his life and continued the legacy of zero whom lelouch himself created as the stepping stone for the "kind world" euphy and nunnally wished for.

It's actually a very happy ending when you think of it, Lelouch won, in all senses of the word, and lived on through Zero in the publics eye. So basically even though Lelouch 'died' Zero lived. Very good writing.
Yeah, legends of Zero lives on!
@ROOKS ON it's alternate time line

ROOKS ON zzzzzz lmaoo that movie was for the fans who hated the actual ending, its only an alternate ending

Yeah after I watch Lelouch death I couldn’t watch any anime nor do anything because I was so sad and couldn’t even do anything. I get depressed for 3 hours
When Suzaku says "Lelouch" in tears, i love that scene.
You're a genius man. Thank You, now I feel less sad

I mean they are in total shock about seeing the real truth that Lelouch has been lying to them.
@Pinkfong Baby Shark indeed and he also redirected the hatred towards euphy to himself.. he endured everything.. truly he is the greatest mastermind in the anime verse
@Pinkfong Baby Shark not in japan but in the entire world
But that was the point. He directed the world's hate onto himself so they would be satisfied with his death and move on in creating a better future for themselves. That's the purpose of Zero Requiem. Those who mattered to him knew the truth. C.C, Nunally, Suzaku, Kallen etc. We have to console ourselves with that fact.
just like Euphemia...
In the end, Lelouch did take responsibility for her death.
If all the theories are wrong, and Lelouch really died here, I will always be happy that at least his sister said she loved him before he died. He knew that what he did was unforgivable, and had already accepted that he would go out with her hating him. Her forgiving him must have made him so happy.
If he really didn't die, then there are some plot holes in the story. If he did die, then the story works.
True but that ending they cut out made it clear as day and there wouldnt be many plot holes it would just need to be explained
I prefer your explanation though because I want him to be alive.
