Because what I really need is to know the time zone in another ocean while I'm swimming.
I think I prefer this over the Erebus from Jody.
Not me. Jodys watch is more original than this, IMHO. Every time I see a submariner case I get nauseous. I sold my 16610 sub last year because these homage brands ruined it for me. Im kind of glad i did because rolex prices are dropping.
I commented that his watch dial looked like my San Martin and got banned from making comments on CZcams for a day. 😢
@@melissasmess2773 from all of YT or just his videos?
@_Napoletano_ why would homages ruin your sub?
@@CZcams_is_full_of_trolls because thats all you see. It made me sick of the design. When I bought that watch back in the late 90s the most you saw was the invicta homages, a couple of fakes and the Tudor sub. Possibly, if I didn't watch all these YT watch channels id feel different, idk.
Great video and review! I purchased the green dial version. I am enjoying the watch. Concerning wrist size… I have a 7.5 inch wrist and had to request one additional link. The watch, as delivered, fit my wrist. However, I had no adjustability. With the one extra link, I now have the ability to utilize the micro adjustments.
The green & gold version just looks a lot better.
The Longines Hydroconquest GMT is a very nice watch.
yep
Good headline lead in! The bezel looks ace, never mind about the clicks. You are right about the skinny hands and the lack of lume on the bezel insert.
I genuinely like it, it I prefer their 116 and 129. All three are probably similar in finishing but I prefer the designs of the above two. Thanks for your honest review as usual.
If it had sword hands and an inky-black enamel dial then I'd be in.
I think I preferred their previous sort of premium GMT diver - the one that came in lime green, and other summer colors
I concur about the hands and loom, thanks for the review.
I think if I were to go this route I would go green and gold because that is the colorway that makes it stand out from the many many other similar styled watches out there.
I wish they could make a dressier version of this. Enamel black dial, more reserved bezel numerals, flatlink bracelet option, less orange, display caseback which is always good. I was so close to pulling the trigger on this but these elements made me realize I wouldn't be wearing this as often. Im so happy they have a date this time, as well as it being a GMT. There are so many SMs I would buy but they dont have a date option.
I have the green one, and it definitely is one of their top 3
San martin gs is my favorite. Blue to black dial.
My sea ghost bronze withe the great wave lumed dial is awsome 👌.
I've heard of issues that others have had but every one is excellent that I purchased.
Really agree with you about the hands are flat. No capped seconds. Should be beveled.
That's why I buy them. Dials and hands.😊
I bought their GMT during November. I didn't know but it is an hommage to GS spring drive GMT. The finition is surprisingly good. Worth every penny. I hope the brand can develop its own styles and be part of the watch market, not only a copycat.
Thanks for the video, Wait a few months, the price will settle. I don't really see anything new in this, its just another expensive San Martin. Looks well built. Cheers!!!
I like the look of the sunburst green, that looks nicest ❤ thank you for the VT❤
Yeah I'd say the green looks the best
I agree. The green is stunning. Unfortunately I don’t need/want a GMT.
San Martin, put this dial/hands/bezel design onto the SN0121 P39 case, in steel and in titanium!
The olive green one is so unique. Blue one is cool too. 😅choices, choices....
Thanks for stirring our interests.
The green is basically a Longines Hydroconquest GMT
I see... Do u think it's necessary to match our clothes to the watch color?
Good, honest take on it Zee. I must say I am really surprised just how different this watch looks to the green one. It almost doesnt look like the same watch. In this instance the colour does make a difference. What do you think?
Yeah i really it does look very different, for the most part the sunray green and gilt hides the simplicity of the actual indicies and hands, i was surprised how simple they were but on other models they've really excelled. Regarding case/bracelet/bezel as I said in the review, they are really up there though.
Good review, well done for questioning the design choices 👍. It is a great looking watch and I do like the way they combined a dive bezel and GMT function, the bezel is more likely to be useful to most of us. Is it their best? No, I think their best watch is still the sn0116 GMT models, I just love the case style, low bezel with top hat crystal and the dial colours including matched date wheel. The beads of rice bracelet is just as excellent too. San Martin had a good 2023, I think they are developing two ranges, the homages are being built down to a price to make them competitive with Seestern etc and the original(ish) designs get the best screw adjustable bracelets/clasps at a higher price point. It will be interesting to see what 2024 brings.
I absolutely agree I think that’s their best watch thus far
This model is in my basket for the next sale, I will go for the green-gold one though. The only gripe I have is the flat hands, SM could have easily done more with very little additional cost.
Yeah definitely my main point here
It looks great on your wrist. Obviously the proportions change on bigger wrists and it's not that great anymore. To me, their LX is better than this one. Super review as always.
Good looking watch
My safety is engaged but Thanks for spotting me as always my friend Be well and Stay Frosty 👍
That's a much better finish than the typical submariner case, and overall a very nice looking piece.
Love the colors, maybe even more than the green. The dial is a bit underwhelming. Thicker and/or larger indices, a bit more personnality to it...we're close.
But best " sub like " case I've seen so far and terrific colors and bracelet.
Totally agree
it is a very nice watch,
Agree with you about everything...San Martin never knew how to add sex appeal on little details that make the whole difference. Suggess do better, Baltany too on all those details (font, logo, overall class)
Preach the truth brother....
Good one ☝️
Very nice watch
i love san Martin
I like this watch but agree they aren’t stretching themselves, I find the second hand and GMT hands confusing. Not a fan of the bracelet.
If it had a better dial, the hands like you said are way to thin, wasn’t polished & the bracelet should taper to 16mm @ the clasp.
Looks great but I agree, the hands of their sumo homage are so much better
Sounds like they went with ball bearings for bezel action
Not a bad take on a sub tbf, does lack abit in the dial and hands tho. Thnx for the fair reveiw 👍👍
Always 👊🏽
It's a Longines Hydroconquest GMT homage
Its my favorite id say, but it's close with some others
Thanks for the video first thing I thought of as well the hands way too small. Next thing the price is way too big. It's a big disappointing for me the whole package. Won't be in my watch box or my wrist.
I don't know about the best watch but my favorite watch from San Martin is their new Rolex Sea Dweller 116600 homage, SN0111T in grade 5 Titanium.
Agreed the hands are too skinny and better for a sport watch nog a diver. Other than that I really have no problem with the watch and its price, although maybe a little boring. green review man
Personally I feel some of their older model got nicer hands, those hands with brush and polish reflects the light nicely
Yeh i agree
Looks great, what is it homaging?
Sub isn't it with a sea master style bezel
@@TheWatcherReviewsI can kinda see the crown guards and case shape as being a bit Sub like, but that’s it really. Bezel insert is SMP 300 like too, but not the actual bezel. Dial, hands, bezel and strap are all different enough that I struggle to call it a homage of those two watches.
Actually it is a very close homage of the Longines Hydroconquest GMT.... Nice watch, the green/ gilt would be my pick. Overall I think their recently released GMTs with the sand dune wave dials are nicer than these. As an added bonus, they a slightly more unique.
@@MrHyde14537 I think the indices and hands are different enough to say it isn't a direct homage. Great review as usual mate
If San Martin decides to make a version 2 of this watch, they should consider moving the date window to 6 and perhaps use sword hands for better legibility.
Love to see a Miyota 9075 step up version. Beautiful piece.
Miyota seems to be holding that movement back from AE. Maintaining exclusivity?
It looks nice but the hands need a little love as they just look cheap.
Wow from a distance I thought it was a tag heuer
Which watch is this model paying homage to?
lognines hydro conquext gmt diver
@@aarkayn i beautiful piece i must say
Disgusting customer service
QC is lacking too. My only San Martin watch the bezel didn't line up and the movement was dodgy (they didn't want to know)
That. Doesn’t sound right.
Did you abuse them?
@goldfools5445 Nope, and I had to order a new nh35 from a third party and replace it myself
Very fair. It's really well made, but not to my taste. The bezel calls-back to Omega too strongly.
On the positive side, SM bracelets and clasps are amazing and it's great to see such quality at the price.
I’ve only had one San Martin there ok but just that to much money and far to many models to choose from that are near enough the same watch
Yeah, these things are so good now, it's scary and how do you justify paying 10-15 times more for the "real thing"? Just a paranoid thought...😅
I agree nice watch but a bit of a boring run of the mill design.
Who calls it SM's "best watch"?
This thing is really cool but I’d prefer a Miyota 9075.
Omg I can't stop focusing on the center of the GMT hand looks so ugly to me... I have 6 watches from them this is a 100% NO
San Martin is doing strange things.... printet Logos (WTF?), flat hands, empty casebacks, price increase... No Thanks!
Wear gloves mate..
No
No, this is not a ROLEX
I don’t agree with you. I think the case is the biggest letdown of this watch. It just aesthetically does not work with the dial and hands. This is a case from a Rolex submariner that has a completely different dial, indices and hands and different design overall. Slapping the case with rounded crown guards on a more toolish dial design is pure stupidity.
This is their best watch ever?? Cheap movement, no originality, crap dial... Huge pass!
Not. Worth. The. Price.
Amazing how many people flock to buy a GMT when they probably never really use the second time zone. I can do the math in my head if there is a difference of a few hours.
You are correct, but how many of us dive deeper than fifty metres, time something important with a chronograph, go to the opera in our dress watch etc?
In my case I live in a country 6/7 hours ahead of my hometown, so is quite convenient.
I can’t argue with that, but virtually any complication is going to be rendered unnecessary by cell phone technology at this point, including the basic three hands themselves.
Who actually buys a watch to tell the time nowadays? It is a piece of men's jewelry and a collectable object at best.@@brianmccord7387
I like dive watches for the lume but I have no need for a chronograph or a dress watch. If a watch has poor lume I pass on it.@@dunderhay9169
