- I ranked every Stardew Valley character in this definitive tier list video. This is THE ONLY Stardew tier ranking video you need to watch, so don't worry about any of the other results that come up (I'm kidding). I would also like to put a disclaimer here that these are literally just opinions, some of which are dramatized for the sake of what some would call "comedy". You have been warned. ALSO. There are some SPOILERS if you haven't played the game yet, which you should.

I understand the part about Elliot. He does seem like a character from a romance book and not real, as his personality is like fake. But I think if I ever meet him in real life, I would probably get along with him very well. We both love books and I write fan fictions as I’m working on my first fiction book as of right now. We both dream to make our books into the market. So as much as I hate how he acts like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast I think he will be my husband if I ever play the game since we have things in common. Haha

Ah, no, Gus is Yoba Tier. He wants to provide food to the entire town, he will offer Linus food if he didn’t get any food that day. He will send you food in the mail IF he thinks the food is good enough and you will like it. He is friends with the entire town, he makes plans and arranges things with everyone! He is perfect. Also Linus and the Dwarf, perfection

It seems like every Stardew tier list I've ever watched has put Elliot at the bottom and I just cannot for the life of me understand why. When I first saw him I thought he would be a fan favourite. Oh well, guess I'll have him all to myself.

anyway i will continue watching but if you put shane in the high tier i cannot forgive you bc his arc makes literally no sense (and people who hate elliott often also have the bad taste to like shane bc they just hate love)

As someone who works as an editor and who writes as a hobby, I wanted to like Elliot. I really tried, but honestly, it's the four-heart event that just tanked my opinion of him. I won't discuss in here in case there is concern about spoilers but blah, really couldn't get over that scene.
That said, if I'm marrying anyone in Stardew, it's Sebastian or Abigail. XD;; Huge shrimp for these two, not ashamed. Love the ranking so far (about halfway in!).

Aside from being a little crushed to see Sebby down the tier list (lol), I agree with a lot of these choices. (Your reasoning is valid though-if you aren't connecting with the character, then it makes sense they are in the middle range.) I definitely feel you on the Shane thing. I'm someone who will max out hearts with everyone because I want all the cutscenes I can get, so I understand the sentiment behind supporting Shane. He's hurting, he's struggling, he needs help. And good, I hope he gets it, but it's not my responsibility to hold his hand through it. The way he speaks to you for quite a while just puts me off.
I'm also really amused to hear you go off on Pierre when I was having a big discussion with friends yesterday about how Pierre is a hypocrite and a greedy assbag. His not being open on Wednesdays isn't even an issue for me. XD;; It's his personality I can't stand.
What? No love for Maru? I mean she literally makes an AI robot that explores the galaxy, loves awesome stuff like strawberries and cauliflower, loves science and is a nurse, and she gets your house ready for the winter if you marry her! What's not to love?

I’m a huge simp for Elliot and he was my husband on my first playthrough, but your criticisms have me rolling 😂 I’m a writer so I def have a soft spot for him, but we can certainly be insufferable asshats. I will never understand why the whole fandom is so obsessed with the depressed alcoholic Shane. Most say it's because he has a sad backstory but that's just not enough for me in order to like a character, not to mention, doesnt excuse his behavior. I got the feeling a lot of his Fans just love the "Fix me" romance trope which is quite a toxic trope to me to be honest but whateves.
I think that Haley deserved to be in the top tier because even though at the beginning she completely disregards the existence of the farmer, as you gain hearts with her she ends up becoming a compassionate and caring person who holds a fundraiser to help out penny get new books for the kids so that they will be able to learn and have a good education. Also, she is hot

Married to Abigail in my first play through of like 92 hours haha been married to her for a bout 2 in game weeks and so far she has given me a bomb, and fried mushroom and has filled up my cats water bowl and fixed up some fences I literally love her. And the flute?? I play flute 🪈 so yes Yoba tier. Love her.

Honestly I love this teir list. And as somebody who loves Shane I kinda agree with where he’s at. I would put Shane in mid low teir. Shane isn’t perfect, but he is a solid character And his character development the more you become friends with him I absolutely love. I also really like his 10 heart scene. Now, again, Shane isn’t the best character, but I would put him mid teir if I was making this teir list. But you honestly did a good job of justifying why you put him bottom.

i understand what you said about how the farmer produces milk and eggs and stuff but marnie does nothing however, if marnie moved out then you would have no one to get the animals from to produce the milk and eggs that makes this a big deal, yes it's annoying how it feels like she's never there but she's just not there monday and tuesday which is annoying since for some reason you always need to go there on monday or tuesday but most people take a break on the weekend and since marnie doesn't it is kinda fair. does she deserve a weekend break? maybe not but everyone should be allowed one if they need it. the main thing though is that without her it would be harder to make money

i understand why shane is mean to the farmer at first. first of all he isn't mean to everyone, only the farmer when they only have like 1 heart with him and he doesn't choose to be depressed. it's not that he's "the one putting himself and this situation and he's the one who needs to get himself out of it.". if depressed people chose to be depressed then we wouldn't have nearly as many depressed people as we have in the world. i know it's bold of me to compare shane to real life people but this is more about depression in general. also when you marry anyone they do nothing, but something huge shane does which would be a really hard thing is he goes sober, yes after that he doesn't do much after that but no marriage candidate does and compared to what? defeating a monster like we do all the time in the caves (sorry abigail stans i do love her though just hear me out)? i don't think he gets as much apprecaition for that like some of the other bachelors/bachelorettes with more random or simple cutscenes do.

finally, with shane's clever invention showcased in his 8-heart event and marnies supply of chickens, we can purchase *BLUE CHICKENS* which are pretty damn cool if you ask me.

These are both very good points! With Shane I definitely agree that his depression is not a choice, and while I do wish that he had more of an arc than he does, I get that the player marrying him doesn’t mean it will “fix” his depression. I guess I just wish he was able to get more dialogue or an arc that highlighted that he was still trying to stop drinking or taking steps with his own mental health even after being married and everything.
Also most of the commentary in this video is VERY dramatized so that’s why a lot of it seems harsh (I’m probably due for an updated tier list to be honest) 😅 but i appreciate the comment/discussion! 💜

It's implied in the base game. Caroline tells you that she used to sneak out to the wizard tower at night, the wizard says he thinks he has a daughter in town, and Pierre says that Abigail looks nothing like him.
