    What’s bizarre is that if a junior assistant manager at a bank did a quarter of the things Santos did, he would be fired immediately but yet half of the GOP voted to keep this grifter liar in Congress !

      The difference is Santos was voted into that position. The House Speaker had it correct when he said it is not our job to circumvent the voters decisions.     It's baffling that Santos thought he could get away with all those lies he told; I mean we're living in a world where most people have access to information in an instant.       From what I remember when I visited the capital last year, there are like 40 or so stations around the room you vote at. You insert/swipe an ID card exclusive to you and then press one of 4 buttons on the machine to vote.

      TLDR: Currently in house votes you have to be present to vote.
      the House of representatives had allowed them to vote remotely (the term law likes to use is vote by proxy) when the 2020 shutdown happened, but that got removed on Jan 1st 2023 last I heard, making it so you have to vote in person to have it counted. However, something to note is the rules are different on committees made by house members (Judiciary committee, armed forces committee, etc.) I think can vote by proxy, I know the Senate committees can.

      It is not and must not be the case that any criminal record means automatic disqualification or expulsion. That would just open the door to political charges forcing good and popular candidates off the ballot.
      Besides which, he hasn't been convicted yet of anything relating to his campaign or (now former) job.
      There are some convictions for which it should be automatically disqualifying, but these are already in the 14th amendment.
