Now those were some NASTY carpets! Hard to believe how good the Grand Am is looking now!
Have a great weekend everyone!
You do a great job as always Mr. Mitch!! Pure class, passion and attention to detail. Detailers like you are a rare breed!!

Love your Channel. Imho the best detail channel ever. So satisfying. And thank you.
Have a great weekend to you too.
I can’t seem to watch one of these videos without immediately wanting to be productive afterwards, thanks for all that you do!
I’m the same! I just wanna watch soapy water run over something dirty and make it clean 🥰
I just fired my steamer to wash the floors !!!
Same
I took a nap after watching this
Lol
Mee too except I watch these at night I should switch that up
I gotta admit the inside of the car was actually pretty clean, in a way that there wasn't junk and old food everywhere, compared to other cars he's done.
Sometimes it astounds me how someone can not only have so much trash in their car, but leave it in when they take it to the detailer. Have they no shame? I kinda wonder if DG asks his clients to leave all the trash in to help make a good video.
@@raksh9 now imagine what their house looks like.
I mean yeah and alot of what he vaccumed up seemed to be cigarette ash
The purple dye/drink/mystery fluid car.
No, but imagine the smell of a smokers car tho’....🤢
I like how this car showed up without piles of trash on the floor boards. Good on the owner for possibly cleaning it all out before they even showed up.
It's respect for each other
Men
Now this car is worth TWICE as it was before. To be exact: 2 dollars
Indeed, now I know it IS possible to polish a turd.
Hahahaha
2 dollars? In this economy?
😂😂😂😂
@@grspnt ur right i give it 1.75
Your videos have motivated me to clean my stuff up, been in a depressive episode for over 8 months now and your videos have gave me motivation and humiliation mixed, my stuff has not even gotten half as bad as what you clean but it made me realize I wouldn't be too far off if I didn't start doing something about it!! Thank you!
I love how the process is the process, it doesn’t matter if the car is brand new or 19 years old.👍🏻
The amount of respect Mitch always shows is awesome
Well he gets paid the same amount (based on vehicles size) so it would be unfair to perform worse
Enjoyed watching you work on this car b/c it definitely had some mileage showing on the body. Yet, you brought out the best in it as usual. Awesome work!!!
Exactly right. Some detailers would take shortcuts on an older car. Mitch doesn't let the age of the vehicle change his approach. Perfectionist's perfectionist.
If anything, this car has lasted 20 years and should be treated with the upmost respect.
Seriously, up until around the 6 minute mark, I cursed you, wondering why you are wasting time with 20 year old shit box. I mean, this is the base model, steel wheels, rusted out, etc. But when you talked about how you treat each car as your own, and strive for perfection, it also reminded me that this is your business, and as such, you'll detail anyone's car who pays, and the fact that you want to maintain the highest quality of standards just speaks volumes to the type of guy you are, and I can really appreciate that
Thank you! It’s just the way I’m wired, couldn’t do it any other way!
@@TheDetailGeek I hear ya man, and people like you are the best at their job. One of my closest friends works for a paint/repair place, and does detailing on the side. He's as much a perfectionist as you are w/ all the gadgets and toys and products. He also has a deionizer (sp?) for the water before it goes to the sprayer, LOL
the bigger question for me is why would you take a turd to get it polished?
I know he's doing it for the paycheck (not a darn thing wrong with that) and the challenge... but why would you pay $1000 to clean an $800 car?!?
@@TheFiremonkeyman exactly what i was thinking
I totally get why he does it to perfection-it's his job. But I don't understand why the owner would spend probably half the cars worth on a detail
I've been a detailer at a dealership for just shy of two months and I gotta say, it's given me a real appreciation and admiration as to what you do. Some of the cars you've worked on I remember you saying that they were rejected from the dealership and now I personally know why
Those auction vehicles can be ridiculous. Especially the repo's. Detailed for 5 years.
Wow this is the most cleanest dirtiest car I've ever seen there's no junk no debris just a whole lot of stains. It's really cool you treat all cars like gold give them the highest quality detail possible. God bless you. Love your channel.
When this first came up I wondered how you got your hands on my husband's car. It looks similar, both green from the same time and both a mess and rusty. Glad to see something could be done with it.... may have to take it to be cleaned.
You can tell he's being truthful when he says that he treats every vehicle as it were his own, since he literally detailed HIS OWN CAR on the channel and applied every step that he does when detailing a customer's car. Great job as always 👌🏻

A little depressing when you realize this car is almost 20 years old…you vividly remember seeing these new on dealer’s lots, still wrapped in plastic. A lot of good memories in these old GM cars (especially in my college days). 🤣
What about when u say u drove one.. I had a 05,it had the best backup lights of any car I've ever owed!!
@@lindameagher9410 Truth be told, I’ve driven quite a few of them, but the only ones I’ve really owned were Malibu’s and Grand Prix’s lol. Still miss my GTP.
Mitch, how often do you get vehicles with rubber mat? What's the % with and without extra protection for the carpets? Maybe do a toll?
I bought my daughter a GT one for her first car about 4 yrs ago. I took it out a couple of times on country roads and drove the hell out it. Thing was a tank but so much fun to drive.
I almost got a Grand Prix in 2006 🤣
I always love how he doesnt bash any of his clients for their cleanliness or hygiene, its really quite inspiring! Keep up the good work!
Its a small thing, but it means a lot
You never know what someone is going through, I love that he's pretty understanding
I really loved when you explained why you take the same precautions when the car is “already beat up”. Not everyone can afford a newer car. The way you show your customers dignity and take pride in your work is so admirable. You are a true gentleman. Great work!
I finally found a mechanic who treats all his customers' vehicles that way; he understands that in this economy, many of us just plain and simply cannot afford to pay for another car when we already have an old one that's fully paid off, but just needs a pro to take good care of it for us.
I would love to see more of how you tackle headliners and seatbelts! Thanks for the inspiration!
He uses his steamer.
Between your commitment to perfection, and how gently and well spoken you are I could watch your videos all day 😅🖤
His statement on how he cares for all cars like his own makes me wanna drive across continents to let him do my car
I know right....stuck in Europe 🙁
Mitch, you did a grand on this one. I appreciate your professionalism. This car was in rough shape, but true to your work, it turned out amazing! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Does anyone else love that not every part of what he’s doing narrated. It’s nice not to constantly be bombarded with a whole bunch of terms and yelling about how nasty something is.
He's a professional 😁 he definitely is a great content maker and detailer
I would like if he could dumb down the squealy background music though. I watch these on silent because that noise is literally headache-inducing.
@@bakerfritz4681 I'm the exact opposite lol. The music helps put me to sleep. To each their own I guess. I just wish there was more diverse music lol
I also really appreciate that. I also really love how he will show a process once and if it is too similar for the other sections he cuts it out. Also also, the before and afters are really nice.
The music, tone of his voice and watching him work on the cars is so soothing. I just discovered this channel yesterday afternoon, and I think I finally found something that can help me a bit with my insomnia. It literally helps keep my anxiety at bay to watch this right now
If you run out of these, there’s a Polish guy who deep cleans area rugs, and it’s the same feeling. Makes me want to buy a pressure washer.
Same :)
I think he has some AMSR videos on his channel. Pretty cool!
@@RestingBeachFace Asmr actually makes me anxious instead of relaxing me, it genuinely hurts my ears. So far the sound of shoes on a basketball court and nature soundscapes seem to be the only "asmr" that I like and or can tolerate. If they even count I guess lol

Honestly it was! I love Lenny so much, such a classic song
My favorite SRV song.
Mitch, you worked another little miracle on this car! The carpet extraction part was incredibly satisfying!! Thanks again for making my Friday so much better!

As someone who's an ex-smoker, this inside of this car is exactly how your throat and lungs feel when you've been smoking a pack a day for years.
My mamaw has been smoking a good 40-50yrs so I can only imagine her lungs 🤢. Yet her husband never smoked once and yet he died of lung cancer

We probably should have been wearing a respirator just watching the cleaning of that car.
Despite what couldn’t be remedied, you did an awesome job. I love seeing new life brought back to old cars. Have a great weekend!
It would be interesting to see some old cars from the 70s or even older to be detailed!
When you mentioned not being able to perfect your work, I thought you still did a terrific job. Keep up the great work!
I'm sick with the flu right now and this makes it easier to deal with ❤
I hope you feel better soon.
We rented this model car for a trip around the Maritimes, same colour, really enjoyed driving it. This one was certainly in sad shape. Thankfully you have the skills, tools and now the chemicals to revive this poor car. Another superior job!
The terrifying thing is their lungs probably look the same as that interior.
@@PennaMinecraft Same here but I was nine. Made me never want to even look twice at the stuff! It’s such an expensive addition these days too.

Was just about to comment the same thing. I quit smoking 4 years ago when I got pregnant with my daughter but I can’t stand the thought of the damage I did to my lungs. Smoking is just so nasty.

You've inspired me so much. I've waxed my moms car, my dads car, and my sisters car, and I cleaned out the inside too. So thanks again for inspiring me 😃
I can say with 💯 percent confidence that this vehicle just doubled its value after the detail!
@@TexasFury yep otherwise it was destined for the scrapyard
@@TexasFury 😂😂😂
I appreciate your work ethic and how you treat every car as if it were your own.
I have never made it through an entire video without falling asleep. So peaceful
This is why I personally can't even attempt to be a professional detailer. I LOVE detailing my own car, but to spend that much time on a customer's car for them to most likely light up a cigarette on the ride home would drive me crazy. But don't get me wrong, everyone deserves a clean ride. And I have a world of respect for a professional this good at his trade.
Your comment about treating every vehicle like it's your own says a lot about you and your business. This car is probably very important to its owner, just like the rest of us with our own cars. We want to be proud of our cars, even if it's rusted and older. For some of us, it would be a luxury to have a car without those things. Thank you for showing the same care, attention to detail, and respect to all your customers.
Love the way you think and why you work the way you do! Treating someone else's property with a mindset like that is a gift. Bless you!
Given how destroyed that grand am was, I'd say that's a pretty amazing transformation!
Thank you!
I love these videos they help with my anxiety and idk how
I love your videos. They’re really relaxing and help me to unwind after a shitty day. Thank you for great viewing pleasure. These vids help me to sleep and they’re so great to see the process of dirty to clean, your drive for perfection is inspiring.
I was literally saying “yessss” when you did the back seats one by one, SO SATISFYING
5:50 that’s why your work/videos is always something I look forward every week. Another outstanding job DG!
The interior is in great shape once the dirt was removed! No tears in the seats or broken plastic anywhere
Yeah interior came out great. He car wouldn’t look half bad f the owner could slap some wheel covers on.
Those stains looks like rust water 💦 stains on the carpet.. I worked at my grandparents dealership and the trade in that came to us in some bad shape, the carpet had those stains and ended being rust water... Not much to do there.. You do an amazing job!! You are great... 😊
Man, your professionalism is actually off the charts. Between how you talked about always treating every car like it’s yours, to the time in one of your other videos where you decided to shampoo the carpets of some car for free because you wanted the car to be perfect, I have so much respect for you. Plus you always do such a good job, it really is impressive.
As a smoker, I couldn't imagine smoking in my car and NOT keeping the windows open, regardless of how cold it is. Love your videos!
Mitch: There are lots of brown and orange stains throughout the car.
Me: A murder has happened here.
That came out amazing. Considering the mess you started with it did look "new" again. Great job as always brother!!
I can't imagine how hard it must be to concede that you can't get the stains out! Especially when you have great attention to detail like Mitch!
every time I feel very anxious I turn on one of your videos and zen out. thanks for all that you do Mr. Geek!!! it’s more than just detailing cars, that’s for sure.
I tried watching other detailers but I just can't.. this is my favorite page and il never be satisfied with other detailers lol .. love ur work
Lovely detail!
I remember when I was a teenager, my uncle had a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am Coupe that he LS swapped and converted it to RWD. Man, that one beast of a machine! The engine came from a wrecked C5 Corvette that my uncle picked up for cheap. He modified the engine adding a larger throttle body, mild cam, long tube headers, and full side exhaust with high flow cats. It sounded nice. Sadly, the car met it's fate while my uncle was track racing it back in 2006 and totaled the car. Slid off the track and hit a tire wall/fencing. Messed the front end up pretty badly. He was fine. Just a few bruises and a broken wrist. The car ended up going to the scrap yard.
Absolute favourite thing to watch! Me and my 8 weeks old son go back on old videos early hours of the morning every day 😂
I never thought I would watch someone put an $800 detail on a $500 car. But now I have!
I agree with you 100% in treating the vehicle as if it was your own. I'm a detailer down here in the states and I get a wide range of cars from an enthusiast group I run with a lot of nicer cars, to high end imports (jag l, Mercedes, Ferrari), to soccer mom rides, to rusty 30 year old cars and I treat them all the same way, they're paying me for a service. I put 120% into that detail no matter the car or condition. I try to provide the best final result possible.
Its so crazy how much yt expanded literally there’s a channel for everything! Cars, house cleaning, mental health, games everything is here😂
Don't power wash the rust off! It's the only thing holding that car together.
While these cars are undeniably cheap beater cars by now I always really liked this generation of Grand Ams. It's quintessentially 90s-early 2000s Pontiac. Before they lost all sense of being unique before the brand got killed off.
This was my dream car when I was in college (mid-late 2000s).
Hope that extractor got a nice break after this one, cuz it sure needs it! Great job as always Mitch ☺️
As someone who has owned some good beaters in my time, they hold a special place in my heart. Nice to see one get some love.
Always wonderful to see people taking pride in there work. God bless you brother
Always appreciate the look of Pontiacs even tho this is more of a lower end model,,, they did build excitement! They were different and unique looking. Also the SRV tribute at the end as always was awesome thanks Mr. Geek!
You give “trash to treasure” new meaning. Great job.
Amazing transformation, Mitch. Makes me wonder if the cost of such a thorough detail ever exceeds the value of a vehicle? 😂 BTW, sent you an email yesterday about your new products. Cheers! ~ John
As a person with a car almost as old as this one, basically anything you do to it exceeds the value of the vehicle 😂 but when you don’t have a car payment, it doesn’t hurt nearly as much!
haven’t watched him in awhile but i love how much he’s gotten into the video editing and how cinematic his footage of the final clean car tour literally is insane
With that carpet staining, I usually spray it white vinegar liberally and let it soak for an hour. Then use your Chemical Guys, let it set for 15 minutes. Hit it with Chemical Guys again before you agitate. Add a very small amount of bleach in the Bissell and scrub a little with the extractor brush as you go. Should pretty much knock it out. Steam works really well before agitation with the cleaners fully soaked in before hand. I've been detailing since I was 18. Started at Value Guard back then. I'm 40 now, been in it for a while. As always, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You always have to know when to stop. You can make more problems if you don't. You're a bad dude, you do really good work 👍.
As the Eddie Mora says in Limitless: “My first though - ‘torch it’ - but saner minds prevailed.”
This is the video I have been waiting for, thanks Mitch
Can we just thank the owner for throwing their own trash away, finally! Lol
appreciated your comment that you give the same quality of service to older, less-than-perfect vehicles that you give to newer cars.
Youre killing it man this is helping me sleep. I still watch the rest when I wake up. How long does it take you to clean a car?
world: you can't polish that turd of a car!
Detail Geek: Mike, hold my timbits...
Upvote for mentioning timbits lol
When you ran the ozone machine did you run the car with the heat on high? That opens the pores in the materials and gets more of the smell out. It would also help with the smell in the hvac system. I used to do fire and water restoration. Running the heat on high was standard procedure. Also, do you detail under the hood on any of these vehicles?
He only details under the hood if they ask. For most people it's out of sight out of mind
WHAT. A. MESS.
But The Detail Geek saves the day again!
I watch a few car cleaning channels, one of whom cleans trashed cars that were confiscated or just nasty. He steamed all of the carpets, but he used this rectangular brush attachment so he could scrub while steaming. Looked very handy.
I always said that if a person keeps his stuff clean, he deserves respect for that.
Might have to invest in a hazmat suit after this one, Mitch ☣️☣️☣️
That "glamour shot" at the end felt almost cynical :)
I don’t know how owners are like i am gonna make this car cry for death for a decade and then suddenly decides to put 100s of dollars to get it detailed when there is no meaning left 🤔
well, tbf, it was a work car...
Maybe the owner is trying to quit smoking. There is a huge difference in being able to afford a detailing vs buying a whole new car.
I’m amazed! I’m a former smoker and never let it get neglected so I can only imagine how long it’s been for this car. Looks great! You’re great at what you do!
I remember working at a local Toyota dealership and I worked in washbays, your videos helped a lot and this video sparked memories from cleaning all summer

Good Morning Mitch, you did an amazing job cleaning up the Grand Am. I am still cracking up that your first car was a Pontiac Firefly. I had to look it up and found in the states it was called a Geo Metro. My buddy had a yellow convertible like your firefly and it got stolen twice. My friends were astonished that it got stolen. BTW, I had a great time re-watching your videos for the "where's Mike" contest. You are the most fun! I am sure that's why you have SO many subscribers.

I love your channel! Reminds me why I always keep my car extremely detailed. I don't even like eating in it. How these people are okay with letting their cars get this dirty is beyond me....
My car is a year old now and I don’t even allow water in my car. If we get thirsty while we are out, we stop and get a drink but we don’t drink it in the car. This was totally disgusting.

And it’s not a hastle to take your seats out. Shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes and it makes life easier when you’re putting in work on the carpet and the chairs outside of the car.
One thing I’m going to try and I can complete be wasting time is a clear “brissle” attachment for my wet dry shop vac. The brissle does amazing but I personally want to speed up the drying time
