Second year featuring young people of all backgrounds and ethnicities, Sling. Kudos. In January of 2022, I retired after a 35+ year airline career. I hope that over that time some young person that saw me out there on the job said to themselves, "I can do that!" To the students in this particular video, thank you for participating and encouraging others. As far as the Instrument Rating, yes, it can be intense. You're going down a path that teaches you to trust and react to the information presented to you, not what you feel. "Chair fly" (rehearse) until you can't take it any longer - and then chair fly some more!

What's with all the pandering to woke ideology? I'm subscribed to see videos related to instruction & the Sling Aircraft, not the shit you're serving up lately.

Wow. Just wow. First, define "woke". After that, sit down somewhere quiet and ponder your irrelevance. This is the second year that Sling has dedicated a video to Black History Month. Since then, Sling has dedicated one video a month to other AMERICAN groups involved in aviation. If that offends you, don't watch. It's a simple solution.

I LOVE watching Sling videos and seeing how people from various backgrounds got into aviation. I havent seen any woke stuff from them lately but as a black guy its awesome to hear how others did it. I like asking ALL pilots how they did it but sometimes ive noticed a bit of a discrepancy. I dont have the same opportunities that many people in this industry had so its nice to see how people more similar to me are going about it. Its not a matter of "pandering to an ideology" its just spotlighting a group of people from a community so that others like them can be inspired. You could do this with literally any group of people. Single parents learning to fly, fulltime workers learning to fly, hell maybe even Orphans learning to fly. You dont need to make it political.

@@EJWash57 Let's put things in perspective here & go right back to the beginning. My belief is that we are all created equal & like MLK, I judge people on the content of their character, not on the colour of their skin. Celebrating achievements, based only on race, is racism in it's purest form. If for example we were celebrating the achievements of people with disabilities, that would be different, because for them, the playing fields are not level. Celebrating the achievements of blacks then, is acknowledging them as lesser beings - not equal to other races, at a distinct disadvantage & therefore a bigoted approach. I will refrain from trading insults with you & not question your relevance, I'd rather encourage you to look at life through a different set of lenses, in which talent & excellence play a role, rather than colour.

@@Bucketnate I don't disagree with you on the issue of inspiring those less fortunate. Please see my response above to EJ Wash. However, the entire premise of black history month, in my opinion, is demeaning to blacks. I fail to see why colour needs to be brought into the content of this video, why not just make it about the achievements of people with a drive & determination to overcome their circumstances & reach outstanding heights, against the odds?

@@gary5481 YOUR words: "...not the shit you're serving up lately." There's a glaring example of the content of your character. Then, you come back and demand a fresh shovel to dig yourself into yet a deeper hole. Congrats.
