"My grandmother used to say: 'Before the white man came...he made a funny face. And then he came".
It is our duty as human beings to see that that joke gets as many listeners as possible.
It's reached Australia:) thank you for the laugh, and much love to you all.
Half of the population has been laughing about that joke for many decades to centuries. Women have always been talking about or laughing at that. But, it’s a secret that all women know since we are face to face with you most the time and see the funny face....lol
That shit is funny as fuck
Hahahaha...that made me laugh and gasp for air at the same time! I just can't with that one! LMAO! And yes...Let's spread that joke to the four corners of the Earth 😂🤣
It reached Sweden 🇸🇪 too! 😂😅🤣😂👍👍
“Did all the white ghosts relocate the Indian ghosts?” I died man. This guy is great! All the jokes. Awesome.
So were you the ghost responsible for the relocation? HMMMM?
Yeah 😆 about 200 to 400 years before the Indian ghosts relocated the Chinese ghosts.
Chief stomach Cramps, say... Stop! your killing me
Comedian, my bro, you missed an "Apache" joke at the end of this clip.
"If you have a dry flaky scalp... just throw it away!" SLAY
It took me a minute to get it. That was a solid line. I dont think anyone in the audience got it. So funny though lol!
@@lukeswain1752 so the people were laughing and clapping at what exactly if they didn't get it?
Brought me to tears
It really didn't get the reaction it should have. It was funny as hell. Don't know if it was group guilt or what that stifled that joke, but hey.. he had some good stuff.
It took me a few seconds to get that one.....🤪
Love how the scalping joke went over the crowds head. Nice
Nice pun there.lol
I know, that was the best one!
@Gemcitykid in this context it would probably make more sense for a black guy to be making the joke. Still hard to pull off either way.
@Gemcitykid Oh, I'm sorry, are Natives still scalping people these days? Or are you perhaps making a false comparison?
@Gemcitykid i believe decades of being fucked over allows you to make a lighthearted jab back
"Our jokes were here first" - That was a savage takedown (LIGHTHEARTED pun intended)
Hey.! That's our word.!😂
Underrated comment 🤣😁
I laughed out loud at that one. The audience didn’t seem to get it but I thought it was great!
@@joycee5493 Can you explain? My poor brain doesn't seem to grasp the joke
Gibum Dante Lim Sure. Just as native Americans were here first (before Europeans), so were their jokes😀.
grew up with jim and charlie (rip). jim is an amazing person with a great family, last i saw him was at his babies birthday. haven’t spoke to him in awhile and just came across this! they make me so proud!!
You are very fortunate to have known him before he became a thing. It's great to hear he's a REAL good guy, not just PLAYING a good guy. Maybe his sisters kept him humble growing up. :)
@@TheGuinever when you have that many sisters there is no choice lol
Really cool to see Native comics. "Bitch go that-a-way" 😂👏
This one got me good. Lol
“I’m more of a stalker than a tracker..”
I just found a snippet of this through a CZcams short just before watching this video. I enjoyed it a lot and I’m surprised that as someone who watches quite a few comedians on occasion and listens to indigenous rap that I’ve never stumbled across this gem before🤯 you would think those 2 things would’ve shown this up in the algorithm sooner😂 if it weren’t for LiteFoot, I’d probably still be blind to all the crap my ancestors have done to the people of this land… I love the indigenous population. It took the atrocities of the white man to unite all the native tribes… wish the rest of the world had their same mentality, maybe the world could be at peace someday…
This is the type of progress we need. The dude's monologue was refreshing. Not condescending, very understanding, and informative.
I grew up in a small town next to a reservation in Washington and my dad used to always laugh with the natives, I never got it until I went back as adult and realized how dry they were and pure observational comedy!
What town??
Wapato/Yakima? 👀🤔
I learned that very same thing myself dry humor requires you to actually pay attention to what exactly they say it and exactly how they say it inflections and all
Where in Washington?
The Indian burial ground joke was true. I never really thought about it before but holy shit that was hilarious 😂😂😂
The only problem with this is it wasn't long enough. He's so funny! I like him a lot. I hope to see a lot more of him.
Netflix and HBO needs him!
Only if they let him do what he wants. I don’t want him being suckered into being an agenda puppet. He’s a great guy and has too much talent to be betrayed in such a way.
"No dad, not the Chippendales" 😂
I’m Ojibwa as well. Chippewa/Ottawa! Get down guy! As a matter of fact, we kinda look alike! Lol. I just had Twins, so.... I’m sleepy asf too! Keep chasing the dream man. I’m from Alabama, and I have an amazing husband that’s Native American as well, he’s Creek. Love watching ya do your thing man!
Congratulations on the twins!! I wish you luck with them and hope they bring you laughs and lots of joy!
Congratulations on the twins! Hope you are able to get All the sleep you need! Blessings upon You and your whole family, always!
I have twin toddlers, haven't slept past 8 am in two years 😂
From one mother of twins to another: CONGRATULATIONS! 💞 The first 2,5 - 3 years were harder than having just one baby/toddler...but THEN it's so much more easy and very giving!
They always have eachother and the bond, as they grow up, and then as adults too, can be amazing! 💞 💞
Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪
Congrats, I have cousins that are twins and they refer to themselves as "Twindians".
He says the word 'patchy' and doesn't make an easy native joke. I respect that.
Tough crowd, this dude was funny / smart jokes
They are native too.
I agree
@@Texicana_512 dude I saw a black guy and an asian
what do you mean tough crowd? they laughed at every joke 😂
It's just a shame that the OGs of America are so underrepresented. I probably wouldn't have heard of him or Charlie if it wasn't for CZcams. That shouldn't be the case.
@Jordan lol get over yourself. If that's what you walked away with from my comment, not that I think there should be more representation for the indigenous communities, that's on you friend.
Part Cherokee here.. Appreciate them, their humor and their heritage. I'm gonna follow all native artists for now on. RIP JJP 060323... My Dad would've love all of these talented comedians. NA Pride! ❤
The OGs of America 😂😂
Good material. Fresh because I’ve not seen a lot of comedians with this perspective
ikr
That shampoo joke was hilarious 😂
I died right off the bat. I absolutely love my peoples humor
"Mmmm, bitch go that way."
That almost killed me.
I want...NAY I NEED more of this guy I haven’t teared up laughing like that in a while.
Great set. Everyone thinks they're a comedian. But they really aren't.
I've seen a number of Native comedians through the years. Many regurgitate the same jokes from the 70s, even though life has changed so much from then.
I don't know a single Native who doesn't use a smart phone. Most on Social Media. Including our elders, lol. Tons new material available.
Really loved your fresh humor. Would love to know if they were original.
My son is half native/white. Difference is he's been raised in his tribe, even though it's not rez tribe. That in itself isn't common.
He loves being there jokester. I'll have to show him this video.
First native comedian I've seen an dude had me rolling
I'm 4th or 5th generation away from full blood bloodline my grandma I think was pure blood or her parents were. The other side of my family are white. I wouldn't know where to even start if trying to find my ancestry
@@Rizik1986 Your privilege depends on if it's summer or winter!
I "stumbled" across this video and SO GLAD I DID!!! Jim Ruel had me cracking up so hard!!! My mother talks about her line of family that has Native Americans in it. My grandmother was British and came to America with my Grandfather who was American (They met during WWII). My dad then married my mother (who he met while in the Navy). Yeah we had some very interesting family dynamics. So I'm definitely going to show her this video. She is going to LOVE IT and be able to relate. I always gave her "funny grief" over the fact I didn't get her beautiful dark hair and dark skin, but instead got the red/brown hair with pale skin that easily burns (my dads DNA). I wish Jim the best of success!!!
He’s hilarious!!! I have to find more of his content! He needs his own comedy show!
This guy here is a pretty funny comedian. His style is very unique, and the jokes work.
Need more natives to put in the stage time. Practicing, building structure & developing some routines. The funniest ppl I've ever met have been from the reservations in my area. Just natural, side-splitting hilarity. There's a lot of talent but very few opportunities.
Hard times will make you either Very Bitter of very funny.
The first Native stereotype I remember was the PSA with the people throwing trash out the window, then they pan to the Native dude with a tear rolling down his face. Remember that? And if you're wondering why the littering problem improved so dramatically in the 70s and 80s, it's because that shit WORKED. My dad would go to throw a cigarette out the window, and I'd look around nervously at the treeline and be like, "Dad! They could be watching us RIGHT NOW!"
Plot twist. The actor playing IronEyes Cody the “crying Indian” is really Italian.
Get this guy a Netflix special!
Mixed girl here... Heize 57 tribe! More laughter like this... life is funny.
I'm half Cherokee from my mother's side. I got all your jokes I'm still rolling thanks for the fun keep it up from the Cherokee.
I could listen to this man tell jokes for hours❤❤❤. He is so funny.
We as a people let ourselves go 🤣😅
Thanks for the greatly appreciated and much needed laugh. Stay safe, stay well much love and God bless
I have to say being Anishinaabe it is nice to hear someone speaking even a little of our language on a platform like youtube.
The "white men came" joke deserved a standing-o. This is a difficult crowd.
I liked that subtle call-back to it with the "sitting Indian style" joke. =^[.]^=
@@Raycheetah
Ok l0 yes
lol, a "standing o"
Maybe it went right over their heads!
He is a white man. He’s probably like ten percent Indian.
AY MY BRO MY FELLOW OJIBWE! Saw a YT Short with Jim, immediately looked him up and I’m happy at least one of my people has the spotlight. Funny af too 😂
I absolutely love these. I'm currently working on an honors thesis about comedy and humor, and was pleased to come across this. I haven't heard very much native humor, and it's great!
Check out author Sherman Alexis

This dude is actually very funny. Well done routine. Started light, ended big. Well done.
Love his hair.😍
I love the joke from his grandma, “before the white man came they made a funny face.” I loved the shampoo commercial too when he put his hair forward and back. He is very funny with an interesting story.
I remember when I was in first grade and being upset that my ancestor's didn't come over on the Mayflower. I complained to my mom who told me, 'Your ancestors met the Mayflower and they weren't happy about it!' I've always remembered that. She was Blackfoot and my dad was Cherokee!
I love it!! We need more natives in music, comedy, and so much more. I love to see this!
A good native music artist is Antoine Edward Jr. (Sometimes goes by Tone) and another is his friend, Nevad Brave as well as Butch and then, there's also Dakota Bear
All are great artists ^_^
...don't call it a comeback...they never left...they're still here...the rest of us are just visiting...respect...
Visiting implies I'm going somewhere. Let's not pretend.
@@honestjohn3881 ...you there, honest john...may you live forever...
Seen all these top comedians, if he keeps original he will be up there. You’re funny dude!
You made me laugh out loud and that’s rare with a comedian. I actually belly laughed, great set.
Hot AND funny.
We need more like him in the world.

He is so funny!!!!! Without being vulgar. That is truly amazing! He has to be incredibly intelligent! ❤️
How am I now just finding this guy😅 he’s hilarious! I lost it at the hair commercial joke
❤❤❤ this is amazing to see our tribe being represented!
He got me with the Lou Diamond Phillips joke lmaoo bc it’s so true
You have a great sense of humor Jim! We are all HUMAN and I'm so happy to can find the humor in all that we've suffered. I personally apologize for the treatment your people's endured. My great-great-great grandmother is Cherokee and married into our family by marrying a great-great-great uncle of mine who was a horse back riding Methodist preacher. At least she didn't have to go on The Trail of tears. She's numbered and named on the Cherokee role-call. My other " Cherokee great -great-great grandmother also married into our family the same way but she's not listed. Mom mentioned that she could have been a Melungeon, who were any of numerous "tri-racial isolate" groups of people of the Southeastern United States. Historically, Melungeons were associated with the Cumberland Gap area of central Appalachia, which includes portions of East Tennessee, Southwest Virginia, and eastern Kentucky. These states are where we hail from, especially North Carolina. We are all mutts anyway you look at it. ☺️😂😉🙌 Thanks for the laughter, I needed this right about now. 🎤😂❤️
He need a Netflix special!!!!
I have a obsession of the Indigenous Native American Culture..
If you get a chance read "Black Elk Speaks".
That was an even bigger mouth full than just saying Native American
@Pouty MacPotatohead still good
I never knew that this channel existed. Now I am a subscriber and I will pass this on to the other natives I know. Love and Prayers sent to you from your friend in Christ AKA the neighborhood Minister...
Enjoyed that "flakey Scalp? Throw that thing away." Now that was funny 😂😂😂😂
I lost it at the dad part! TOO CLOSE TO HOME... “it’s the Indian way”
Graham Green, Adam Beach!!!!! Brilliant actors, North of 60!!!! Exhibit A...must watch.
Wes Studi and Gary Farmer too! Love those guys.
Im also from Milwaukee and married to a Chippewa woman. I have never met nicer, funnier, or kinder-hearted people than the Chippewa.
.....whatttt have i stumbled upon?

He was here first. Brendan Fraser looks like him with short hair. :)
@@ChristopherCricketWallace he was in America first, that doesn't mean he was first on Earth. Not sure who was first to exist if any.

More Jim Ruel! Love it!
CZcams algorithm, well played. I enjoyed this
First off Mr. Jim Ruel, congrats on your baby! And man, I love your jokes. I'm Mexican and I remember being a kid growing up in Barstow CA, we lived in a white neighborhood, when I played guns with the other kids, they always picked me to be the bad guy... I had an empty water gun, they had BB guns. Yeah, they were some fun days : ( Anyway, thank you for posting.
Sounds like barstow
hah! so funny, glad he's doing this they are so rare in the media. Lived in Michigan 5 years and the only chipewa I got to talk to was a friendly guy than approached us in the park, he was high on at least 3 substances, and we had a strange conversation about fish guts. I'm from east Europe and part tatar so I can say I met a very very distant relative in Michigan.
I want to get deeper into my Native American roots. I'm black, white and Native. Blackfoot Tribe, definitely, and possibly cherokee. I'd like to go there(the Black Foot reservation) and other reservations. I'd like to also donate money, too. I don't know reservations seem poor. I'd gather money and donate it to the tribe. It'd be a good thing to do.
I'm glad to have watched Mr Ruel's comedy he's funnier than hell.
"Man, as a people we have let ourselves go"
Well for the record I saw a study once in which different racial groups rated their own attractivenes and the attractivenes of others. I believe the idea was to show the imbalance toward Eurocentric beauty standards. There was some compelling evidence. Except the native group rated themselves as the most attractive, more than other groups seemed to feel about themselves, and most other groups agreed 😂
@John Burton This is certainly true, I was just happy to see one group apparently unaffected
tanyuu When Native Americans are beautiful they are just stunning. No one can match.
I've read similar studies that show white people were the only group to not have in-group preference. Progressives won.
@@benm5913 I don't know if it's a matter of winning, just preference, or maybe who the surveyors chose
Most Indians look white nowadays. This guy looks European.

Too funny about the Indian style sitting story and your friends giving you crap lmao-- so relatable hahaha, I grew up in the twin cities but I used to get such silly questions from friends bc I lived with my grandma who was Native American 😂 My fam is Ojibwe too, Fond du Lac band! I'm only a fourth, or as my grandpa says, a Heinz 57 haha 😁🤓😂
I've had a number of native friends over the years. They are very funny people, especially when white people aren't speaking on their behalf.
good to see an Anishinabe comic, from the Canadian great lakes region glad to see a resurgence in that culture although it has leaps and bounds to go yet
Rolling around and holding my guts! Thank you and more please!!!!
Lol He sounds such a Wisconsin and Michigander. As one from the mitten state, I was cracking up as I noticed the little things.
Loved it. From Portage, WI
Yes I’m commenting again, I’m in love with this!!!! My ribs ache from laughter! Teepee TV yas!!!
That grandma joke lol about sitting Indian style 😂
It's not so funny when there's an actual country of 1.38 billion people, where that particular manner of sitting holds cultural significance.
The scalp joke is so freakin funny. Love it
I love this! Natives have a great sense of humor 💯
