If egg events are to succeed, Niantic needs to change the game so that you can transfer eggs you don’t want to bother hatching. I constantly have a full compliment of eggs (mostly 7km & 12km) that only have the possibility of hatching Pokemon I already have. When egg events come up, I have to hatch most of them to play. I would buy more incubators to hatch eggs with Pokémon I don’t have, but not for ones I do. Let me transfer eggs I don’t want, damn it!

Deleting eggs or even just being able to turn off the ability to receive an egg from spinning a gym or stop would be a huge improvement.

What really sucks about Larvesta, it takes 400 candy to evolve and it is 20km per candy.
As a free to play trainer, my worst events are egg hatching. It’s because of the very low hatch rate for Larvesta (which I still don’t have after more than 200 hatches) frustratingly and when you spin stops, I don’t always get the type of egg that would contain Larvesta. Now they throw in a possible shiny and that makes it such an unpleasant hunt, not looking forward to it
same but those 1/2 hatch distance as free to player is kind of ok
the in person overseas events even worse for free to play miss out on so much at least with egg hatching you can hatch the 9 eggs before event starts then can get the event eggs to hatch later and hatch a few during the event
As a F2P player, and a parent of small children, egg events are 100% the worst events ever. Even if I WANTED to walk 20k to hatch a handful of eggs (which I don't), there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to do that with the children in tow, and I'm not pushing a stroller with 2 children in it for that long.
Even raid events as a F2P aren't this bad becuase they aren't tedious.
YES! Most people don't have time to walk 10 or 12 km a day to get something they already have. I feel like Niantic often forgets that it's mainly adults that play this game and most adults have jobs and other commitments they have to prioritize over playing the game. Also, I'm a rural player, so there isn't a ton of reason to go out and play for long enough to hatch eggs. This sucks!
I walk 8-12 miles a day at work pretty sure this event is on a weekend though so there is no excuse to get out and do some walking. It’s Pokémon go not Pokémon stay
@@scoogyskoogz1869 Not everyone only works 9-5, Monday - Friday. A lot of people have families and friends they do things with. Some people have second and third jobs. And if you're a really rural player, there aren't many places to walk to.
Ok that's what you like to do not everyone likes to waste there money on stupid incubators that people already have nor want the only one that care about hatching eggs are content creators mostly.
@@scoogyskoogz1869 Not everyone works 9-5, Monday - Friday. Not everyone works jobs that require walking. Some people can't even have their phones on them while they are working. Some people have families and friends that they want to spend time with when they aren't working. Some people have 2 or 3 jobs they work. Some people live in really rural places that have no Pokestops or a gym, which leaves them with not much to do if they do go out and play. The cons outweigh the pros for most players.

Thank you for doing what you do. It's refreshing to have someone call Niantic out instead of just pumping sunshine and complimenting them for doing a good job. They aren't. CZcams voices like you who speak out is good for the community. You're a man of the people. Like you said, we all want PoGo to survive and thrive, but when they do these three steps back type events, it ticks me off. The good news is that I get to chill the rest of the weekend and not have to grind so much.
The only way I can see this event being decent is if Larvesta is in the most common tier of egg hatching for the duration of the event
Egg hatching should not be an event in itself it should always be part of another event

I see this as Niantic's way to try to find the revenue that they lost from the Remote Raid Nerf that fits their "go outside and play" narrative. I'm looking forward to at least and attempt at that elusive Hundo Female Litleo and a shiny one (would be nice to get a Shundo F Litleo) I've been chasing for years now.
Salazzle completely killed my motivation to do anything related to incubating eggs. I was periodically giving Niantic money for incubators since the game started in 2016, but not anymore. Thanks Niantic for showing me how stupid I was for falling for your 'loot box' scam, I guess.
Well Niantic badly needs income right now where playerbase keeps decreasing and decreasing. Many players quitting due to remote raid nerfs and trash events lately (can't blame them, blame Niantic😂) and also stupid spoofers who got perma ban, which we can't deny that they are a major part of playerbase.
We don't know the statistics of active players and spoofers.

The eggs suck. When there was unlimited remote raids, I would drop $40 on payday to get an incubator box and spend the rest on remote raids, and I wasn’t fond of the incubators, but it felt good to get through all of these eggs I kept getting. When they nerfed the remote raids, I stopped dropping the $40/mo and just buy remote raid passes with gym coins. I don’t miss spending money on incubators *at all*
I can understand your point of view of Larvesta being locked behind eggs and being the rarest thing to hatch, but the silver-lining for me is the half hatch distance, 1/4 hatch distamce for the first 3 eggs with the widget, and as well as helping with the Shared Skies timed research to hatch 15 eggs in total.

This sleepy event is a good example, the Larvesta event is a bad example. I’m fine with shiny Larvesta and half egg distance, but that’s the whole event. Getting Komala, a rare pokemon already, shiny, in the wild and research is the right move. And the task isn’t very hard. Just not sure how common they are but they exist.
Larvesta released on May 2nd 2023 and I got my first one from a 2km egg on 6/20/2023, about 1.5 months later. I got SUPER lucky and it was a 15/14/15. I've gotten 6 of these things in total... in about 13 months. I don't spend a lot on the game - on average maybe $5-8 a month, but I do spend some on the game, but mostly just use free coins and try to bulk buy passes and incubators for cheap.
I despise egg events due to having mobility issues that make them totally not fair, but at least this one has reduced distances
Egg events feel like spoofer events to me. Who has the time to walk 12km every day of an event for the “chance” to find a shiny pokemon? People have jobs bro

I’m so curious what percentage of players spend more money for events like this. Niantic spaces good events and raid bosses so far apart where I save up enough poke coins to spend when I need them. Niantic made me free to play like three years ago. I’ll buy go fest tickets, but that’s about it.
I just wish they would make these spawns as well as eggs. That way you can continue hatching eggs for more chances to get the shiny Pokemon but it would be in addition to the spawns. Let’s be real though, the Larvesta spawns would be extremely minimal even if they did this. I’m barely seeing any Komala. Yes I know they told us it wouldn’t be as evident as other spawns, but I’d still like to see it occasionally.
I plan to hatch eggs during this event, but I will ONLY use the incubators I currently have from a stock prior I had. I haven’t yet hatched a Larvesta at all anyway. Currently holding into 12 twelve km eggs right now which I’ll hatch right be for the event to not collect lame eggs before hand
I'm on the fence with egg events as I do actually like hatching personally, I rarely purchase incubators unless I happen to have coins & they are in a really good bundle deal, most of the time I hoard incubator rewards from research or showcases specifically for egg featured pokemon I want/don't have that are egg locked.
However, I totally understand where most of the player base is coming from about disliking them & agree that if Niantic want to keep up with egg events, they really do need to incentivise people participating in them ie. half hatched distance, double hatch stardust, increased candy & XL from hatches & either increase the featured pokemon's odds from eggs significantly (ie. have no more than 3 desirable species of pokemon hatching from the target eggs with lower odds of hatching than the featured pokemon, or boost the featured pokemons odd to 50% with a 1/25 or 1/50 shiny rate) or give the player base what they have been asking for, for years now- introduce the ability to transfer unwanted eggs from our bags so people can actually target the eggs they want to hatch. Even if the ability to transfer eggs was limited to just during the event, more people would at least go out & hunt until they got 9 featured eggs, which is better than a big chunk of the player base simply skipping it entirely as 'too hard' or 'pointless'.
The biggest drag for hatching eggs for me personally is the lacklustre roster in them- I've mostly been focusing on the 7k eggs as working on my distance medals & I honestly trade away & transfer everything out of the 7ks as it's all pretty much junk. I wish they'd just lower of numbers of pokemon species in each egg pool, switch the hatch-able pokemon up more often & start adding better/more meta relevant pokemon to the egg pools- I mean if they want us to walk more than 2km or 5Km, then incentivise it through really good pokemon hatching from those eggs.
I also think 7k eggs should feature more regional pokemon, like a different region locked pokemon every season, even if it has a slightly lower hatch rate than the other pokemon in the pool, as it would encourage more people to collect gifts to send & receive, as well as walk if the 7k & 10ks hatched out really desirable or otherwise hard to get pokemon.
If you the type of player that aggressively hatch eggs or walk a lot and have collected reward incubators for events like this one, then this may be a great event. Everyone else not so much.

Recently hatched 25 eggs looking for some riolu , ended up with about 22 emolgas - NICE!!…
Egg events are fine if they give us a little bit extra with it. Boosted hatch dust and XP should be standard, boosted shiny odds for all pokemon in the featured egg pool and no pokemon outside of the special egg pool should be in there. maybe also feature the event spawns in field research as well with the most exclusive one behind something stupid like hatch 5 eggs so you can maybe get one, but at the same time it keeps them limited and rare.
they need to give us the ability to trash eggs we do not want...

If Niantic is hurting so badly for money, they just gotta reverse some of their horrible business decisions around the remote raid nerf from last year. Don't understand why they can't seem to grasp that concept. Remote raids as they were incentivized more rural players to get out and play because there were tons of people willing to buy and use the remote raid passes and to assist those playing in-person.
These days it isn't worth going after a legendary unless it is raid hour, and even then, the hour has to have a hype enough pokemon to bring people out. Raid hours full of Regi- and Tapu- have been a complete snore. Blacephalon and stakataka alleviated the raid boredom a bit, but guess what? They were region locked, meaning, remote raid passes!
They need to let us delete the eggs we dont need fr, its an annoynce
Make the increase in possibly hatching a shiny better than what they normally do or make hatches fun baiting us with increased shiny rates for hatches....I still don't seem to be hatching these increased rates in hatching shinies
Egg hatching events are P2W its horrible, its gambling, its too expensive. This is coming from someone who active hatches eggs and buy bulk incubators too. Also i’m still baffled to this day that they nerfed remote raids. What a shot in the foot..

I don't normally mind events like this because I am pretty active-walk the dog, play with the dog, cut the grass, and work.
I wish the egg pool was better in this event. I don't do pvp, unless it's go battle weekend where I tank for free stardust.
It would had been cool to see a 2km or 5km eggs that had all the fire starters.
I have so many super incubators but even I hate egg hatching.The issue is the pure RNG factor of hatching eggs even with reduced numbers of pokemon in the eggs. I hatched so many riolu from the last egg thing and basically less than 10 of the pokemon I wanted and that had 3 pokemon in. Its just a money grab nothing more especially now they have been banning PTC accounts people buy to get specific shinys ect which i guess is a debate on if thats cheating or not.This game has just become so money focused now.The pandemic seemed to increase the greed of niantic. Oh and great videos i recently came across your videos and they are very good not to much this is bad or this is good just a good middle ground of things.Keep up the great work

They should also drop a special research with a Larvesta encounter. That would at least make it an ok event (and, one where you could more casually play).
Im glad to hear lioe literally eveey other content creator how amazing the gane is and whats coming out. But dont put their negetive thoughts and feedback. Without these, games cant change for the better 100% . Hope they do better. They've been releasing a bit lately why not .
To hatch a normal larvesta already very hard, shiny even more harder and it’s almost impossible. I hatched many many 12km eggs, as far I only got two shiny wth. I never get brand new shiny from eggs. Niantic never gives chance. Only give chances to CZcamsrs. We also hatched many eggs like them, it just we didn’t advertise for them. Sigh!

I think i was lucky to have started playing after the remote raid nerf. I try my hardest not to spend any money on this game and use it 100% to get outside and walk around so events like these dont bother me ill use that 1 free incubator and be fine but its very blaringly obvious how money hungry this company is at this point its oozing out of them so i can 100% understand the frustration and disappointment
How are you going to evolve it, even if you get a shiny larvesta? It takes 400 candies to evolve.

Ive been playing from day 1 and my opinion is that this event is fine for larvesta or pokemon similar to that, most people havent even hatched a normal one of these yet so yeah the shiny should be super rare to hatch. Now the fact of having to spend real money for incubators is a little different but i still think this game should create some revenue for the DEVS to continue to work on and update the game, also some of the ticketed events I dont agree with but the fact that people will watch this video on their $3000 PC or on their $1000 smartphone and be upset because NIATIC is trying to make a few bucks on a free to play game that THEY love and enjoy is wild to me.
I dont even worry with these events anymore. Like PokeAK mentioned in his video, is there a point in spending money for Larvesta and its shiny when it'll have a community day somewhere down the line? And the money spent for the event will seem like a huge waste later when everyone will eventually have the shiny and the event shiny won't matter anymore. I have plenty of Reshiram for fire power and plenty of bugs if needed for bug coverage. Otherwise, it's just not relevant to me.
That's assuming it will actually have a Community Day. But he's right, no point in spending money for this.
I get your point of view but only 50%. I think having a pokemon exclusive to eggs is a good way to promot that side of the game and having its shiny exclusive to egg hatching makes sense but what i do agree is that the event needs to be more rewarding like having the same shiny odds as the raids where it was a 1 in 10 chance to hatch a shiny and make distances shorter during the event and things like that to make it more engaging and push people to play more and maybe also give out free 10 super i cubators that players can use 3 times which would mean you could hatch 30 pokemon. So yeah i would say that they are wrong 50% in the way the event is put toghether but right 50% with tailoring the event around an aspect of the game that is mostly ignored and set in the background
I was excited until I learned that it's only egg hatching. I still haven't hatched a Larvesta. I also have awful luck for hatch events (hatched 54 Riolu eggs and got 0 shiny, similar with other babies) so this is a hard pass and another week of no play from me.

Honestly, I agree with you. This event is not all that great. It does not really have any wild spawns. So no you are justified to be negative about this event because the mass majority of other people are just as well. So, I honestly i don't have a problem with it being negative if it calls for it . I will say that is cool that they're finally releasing the shiny though I do agree with you. They could have put it in the wild but niantics not going to make it that easy on us so they could put it in the research tasks But most likely if they did it would be hatch 2 or three eggs. So you're still spending money. So I feel that since they want to keep it a egg exclusive pokémon they could have at least made it to where the hatch rate of it was much higher

I disagree. I love egg events. I usually hatch 175-200+ eggs. I walk everywhere. All the dust is nice. I already hatched 20+ Larvestas. It's an event for the pros, not the low skill players.

I had quite a few incubators from research and winning showcases, so I went hard on 7k eggs to try for a shiny emolga. I did not get because "if you're lucky" never applies to me in this game. I'm not negative; that's my reality. So I'll just accept my reality and use my permanent incubator for this event. I used to spend about a hundred dollars a month on this game, now I'm under 20. I'll probably blow a hundred on Global Go Fest, but I don't really care about these blatantly obvious money grabs and I don't think you are complaining too much!

Why does every event HAVE to be good for free to play grindy players? This event sounds awesome for someone who gets 10 hours of walking with adventure sync everyday, can only check their phone occasionally, and isn't weird about spending money on their hobby.
I feel like a lot more people are daily players than y'all think who work 40+ hours a week, spend frequently, and can't go walking around at specific times, or on specific days. We just can't be online all day making our voices known. We like to fill our dex, collect shinies, and get stardust as well.
Aside from that you aren't barred from participating if you don't spend.. you just have restricted access... which goes for just about everything in life.

Where I agree with u is here I think we will agree so here is what I like, 1 is the egg hatching distance, 2. shiny Larvesta, 3. the title. Other then that this could be a scam and Niantic wants us to spend money but with this event Niantic is not getting a nickel or a penny of my money.
