Yes, my wife and I walked up the steps to his house in Hydra, Greece. When we opened the door, there was Marien, just sitting there at her desk typing his lyrics, and musical notes on sheets of paper. Then we walked to the window and opened the blinds. OMG what a perfect view of the Mediterranean sea. Here he wrote his best music. Thank you, Leonard Cohen
Fuk me no security? I remember I could have touched Diana and Charles, definitely no security then Maybe people are better than we think or it's just luck?

Leonard poems are universal ,you have to know the lyrics and you have to understand the poet . I’m listing my lovely Leonard since 1985, and he always bringing something new to my life
I believe this arrangement is my Favorite!! It goes so deep into Your Soul! My Beloved Daughter, died this past July 4th. This song has actually helped me cope. My Beloved Daughter. Jody had lupus, she suffered so! I am broken . Yet, this song helps me, internally calm my heart ❤️

his work has so much resonance - wherever he is it speaks to you - its great that you were able to enter his space and were part of the moment . I met Leonard Cohen when I was leaving the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park - where a film on him had just been shown and was walking down the steps with friends - there was an area cordoned of where he was surrounded by people wi - I went to go in and a man at the entrance stopped me - Leonard Cohen came over and said to let me in and then dedicated 20 minutes to having a conversation and looking at the photographs of the paintings that I made to his music while travelling -(a friend had just developed and given me them just there- I was studying sculpture at Chelsea art school) HIs conversation was really significant and also revealed his incredibly kind nature - it was great to be able to meet him in person and more important than a crit at Art School - although my time creating work at art school was the best ...

Tan joven y tan viejo. Magistral. Gracias señor Cohen.
In my humble opinion, Will Rogers was the best philosopher of the first half of the twentieth century and Leonhard the best philsopher of the last half, in North America!
“Who by fire” is Leonard Cohen’s version of the Hebrew prayer "Unetanneh Tokef", chanted on Yom Kippur. It was released in the 1974 album “New Skin for the Old Ceremony.” This is one of the main songs of the album and one of Cohen’s best known songs.
From Leonard Cohen's official website www.leonardcohen.com/band/javier-mas-old-ideas-world-tour Mas added the archilaud to his repertoire, putting nylon strings on the instrument and tuning it in fourths so that it sounded similar to the Arabian oud. So you are correct, it sounds a lot like an oud.
Sorry to be so off topic but does someone know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any help you can give me!
@Zev Griffin thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Its tuned (and sounds like) to imitate an oud. The guitar is an archilaud, which is usually strung with steel string. He restrung it with nylon and tuned it in fourths like an oud
I looked back at the screen at 4:48 and until 4:50 and there's Leonard Cohen's face (I mean part of it) in the folds of the guitar soloist's shirt. It's his left cheek, jaw, and mouth, lit from his above left. Nay? Had to share that, it weird me out so pleasantly.

You got to see him! Bless you!
@@dawnpetrich6745 I was blessed, for sure.
Lucky you. My one regret was that I never had that privilege despite being an adoring fan for 46 years when he died.
Absolutely one of my favourite songs, phenomenal instrumentals!
HIs songs are so Zen and leave you nowhere to hide, if you want to listen.
Beautiful song. Based on a Yom Kipur prayer, and as usual Cohen bring his cultural and religous roots to a new level of beauty.
Who shall I say is calling? This song is a tribute to the evil one. All his songs are.
@@SmokeRiderSessions none of his songs are a tribute to evil.
Which prayer,may I enquire

this must rank as one of the greatest guitar solos ever.
Especially given it's not a guitar.
Its a12-string bandurria played by Javier Mas
Oops. Sorry. It's an Archilaúd !
He is a blessing of God to listen to the best songer of the word. Now he dies I feel sad.
I didn't know Leonard could even play guitar much less this well.
Thank you Leonard. R.I,P,

Can u tell me about the strings what type of nylon?
The build-up of exquisite anticipation in that intro is as tender as foreplay.
A guitar solo that raises to the level of Cohen's philosophy! Very good show indeed. And maybe some of his fans understand who is...WHO!
Flamenco is the music of protest. Thank you for bringing it to us with such authenticity of spirit.

Yes, Leonard was a master, but adding Javier to this made the song so much more complete.
