Hundreds gathered at Tallahassee Medical Center to honor a three-year-old boy and the family who, when they learned they would lose him, chose to give life through their son.
This made me cry. I am 66 years old and have seen my share of terrible events in war (Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Balkans) but to see such a young child leave this world is so traumatic. The support of all those who attended his honor walk is the America I know and I miss that America very much. God bless you David. Your a shining star.

Our daughter passed away on her 53 day with us, waiting for a donor heart. None were offered. I do understand what it is like to lose a child, and what the gift of life would have meant. Hugs and rainbow from one mama to another.

There’s a waiting list… just because someone needs a heart, lung, liver or whatever doesn’t mean they get one… yes it sucks but it’s just they way it goes…

It's only hard on those who have to stay here and grieve.

Had they not used the free will God gave them to disobey God, most likely we wouldn't have the suffering we do today. Strange isn't it? I mean here we are all these years later and we STILL don't adhere to God's laws and commandments of how we should treat one another. To honour each life, it's time on earth, and all that it has done, and given, and meant, and all that we have held in our hearts for it, is a truly lovely thing. I don't agree. I find it really morbid. Parading through the corridors and putting your pain on display is not a lovely thing. So, I'm glad we don't have it and I do hope it won't take hold.
As a U.S. citizen I just want to say that not ALL of us agree with this kind of thing. Yes, it's a wonderful thing to help others like people do with organ donation. However, as a Christian, the way I was raised is that the greatest charity is that which is given anonymously and without expecting recognition or fanfare. Sadly, so many of my fellow countrymen expect something when they give something. Whether it's a million dollars to their old university or an organ!
The hardest part of an honor walk is seeing the doors close on the gurney for the last time. I applaud the parents who gave their son's body to help others.
To think of others during the most tragic and horrible situation you've ever endured is a selfless, beautiful act of love. David is not gone. He is with every single person whose life he saved or made infinitely better with his donations. Peace and love to David's family and all who care about him.

What an adorable little boy. Thank you for your miraculous gift of life. My grandson was 2 1/2 when he needed a kidney transplant. Fortunately my son was able to donate his kidney to him.

I am in liver failure, but I can’t bring myself to accept a liver when someone else is grieving the loss of their loved one. I cannot find joy in someone else’s loss. To accept the life saving gift offered by the donor family allows them to know their loved one helped another. I hope you reconsider the decision and accept a beautiful and loving donation.
Please don't feel like that. Those parents are going to grieve their loss regardless. Ask any donors family how they feel knowing their loved one was able to give life to others.I think it might change your feelings. For me I felt proud that she was able to give others a chance to live a better life and not be sick all the time or worrying how long they had to live. I'm not sure why you've made those decisions in the past, but when a match is a available that's WHY these terrible events occur. And finding a match is rare. IF given the chance again you need to reconsider, you may not have the selfless gift of life offered your way again.

As a parent myself, I'm at a loss for words. He's so incredibly precious. I don't know what happened, but I'm so sorry his family is hurting & I know they will miss him & think of him every day for the rest of their lives. Father God, please wrap your arms around this family & help them through this. Give them the peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus name I pray, amen.

This was the hardest, saddest day for the Danser family, YET , the greatest day for the other family that received David's organs. David is living through that family.
