- A bucket list surf adventure to a tidal phenomenon that occurs in the Kampar River known as the Bono "7 Ghosts". I have always wanted to check this place out ever since I saw Rip Curls "Search" edit on this wave that they released in 2011. In this video I break my whole experience down, from what I learn about the Bono, to the locals who surf it, to even a little behind the scenes of the iconic "Search" trip in 2011. Everything about this video is what keeps me out there filming and surfing these amazing wonders of the world we are so lucky to witness. I can't believe I waited 12 years for that video. The rip curl one was so frustrating, so little details. Yours is more than perfect, we learn a lot about it. I just hope that place doesn't get spoiled by mass tourism. It's an impressive phenomenon.
I loved that video but I felt the same ! I needed more !!! There was still a lot of info left to put in too but I didn’t want the edit to be too long … glad u enjoyed it !!! I feel like it should be enjoyed by the masses it’s such a wonder !

And like others have said, this was one of those frustrating mysteries on a video almost a decade old (the Rip Curl edit) and deserved more attention.
These videos are so good and well-produced. Thank you so much, Dylan. You really bring content that the surf world and current industry/market just doesn’t deliver on at any substantial level right now.

Bravo!!! In my option the best story you have done. The flow of the story line of past history to local guides to you ripping to end it with a party wave with groms!!! You are so good at capturing surf culture and the characters that surround it is amazing! You have also have such a talent for matching the music to the sections. Loved the tracks! I had some temporary tracks in there that I just loved so much and felt like they worked so well (who boy and dungen) I tried to create music for those sections and it just didn’t feel the same at all, so luckily I was able to revenue share with the artists and leave em in there. I just found your channel, and now im subscribed.
I used to surf back in the 70s and we never thought to even wonder if places like this exsisted.
I started watching surf videos about a year ago, and there are some good channels and its been really fun.
However your channel seems so unique in that you go places where not everyone has been or even knows about, and you make friends and illuminate the history that makes it what it is.
Such an interesting phenomenon in this episode, and alot of fun to watch, feels like hangin out with friends.
Im 65 now and i havent surfed in at least 30 years, but i still swim in the ocean everyday. And i could definetely see doing this, it looks like a blast.
Thanks for your interest in these beautifil and uncommin places, you do a great job documenting and photographing your journey.

After seeing you and ben gravy surf the turnagain arm i was so stoked to get on it, after surfing it im all about bore tide surfing, I was terrified of bono because of the ripcurl video, but this video made me realize that I could be worthy of the seven ghosts one day

Great production! Like how you incorporated the local "Bloggers" into your piece as well. What a wonderful stage that place is at right now - you scored it relatively early in its evolution. I can see foilers migrating to that place and connecting ALL those different sandbars if that's indeed possible.

Its soo funny when your young , you dream of riding long waves. In my case I went to Costa and surfed 15 foot Boca Baranca, like the 3rd longest left in the world. Yeah like three waves in and I was worn out, they're soo long of a ride you run out of tricks to do
I’m still chasing that dream lol 😂 yeah this was one wave a day, but 3 hour long rides 🥵 sci fi surfing 🖖

so I was wondering, what kind of wild life is swimming around in that river ? Also did you feel threatened by any gnarly bacteria or anything like that , just curious . Again awesome video!!!
Thank u ! There’s crocodiles in the area but they don’t hang around when the wave comes thru … most wildlife wants to be as far away from that tidal surge as possible. The local kids paddle to and from the wave without a worry. With any body of water there’s always risks of bacteria but I didn’t get sick at all when I was there :) nothing but thumbs up from me and my experience 🫶
