10 Years On Mars (Ep 10): A Martian Flower For Curiosity

  • In this episode, Curiosity finds what looks like a Martian flower, finally reaches the start of the ancient river channel and finds flaky rocks that look almost identical to rocks from streams or rivers on earth. Also in this video is (in my opinion) the best image ever taken on Mars.

    If you've made it this far, I'd like to thank you for sticking with it. Writing this, as I upload this 10th and final episode of Curiosity's journey, I'm almost a little emotional that this series has come to an end. It's been one of the hardest things I've ever done, but also one of the most rewarding.
    The team at NASA and the rover itself are phenomenal, and I hope Curiosity continues for many years to come. Please share the series far and wide, to inspire others, and the next generation of passionate scientists, explorers and engineers.
    To whoever is reading this, thanks for watching this series. You are the reason I continue when things get rough.

    What if there was intelligent life on Mars but they were much, much smaller than Earth life forms? Let's say maybe 5 or 6 mm in height for an adult humanoid. Also, let's say they lived primarily subsurface on Mars, or just below the surface to protect them from radiation and extreme temperatures. Thus living at ground level, oxygen would be available and frost melted ice would provide fresh water. And suppose their life style was similar to Earthlings, with pet dogs, bicycles, music get-togethers and so on. Can we wonder how NASA would handle such knowledge.

    So here's the thing, if Mars had water where did it go.
    Clearly there is 3nogh gravity to keep water on the planet, so where has it gone if it had it it should still be there.

    • @vesnabernjak-ord8674
      @vesnabernjak-ord8674 Před rokem +1

      It got trapped within minerals inside Martian rocks. The cold temperature of the planet also turned some of it into ice.

    • @flitsies
      @flitsies Před rokem

      @@vesnabernjak-ord8674 OK so where has all the ice gone then, and why is it so difficult to find any minerals with ice or water in them.
      It seems to me that if Mars had water in abundance it would be easy to find, if it were in the minerals being in abundance the minerals would be seeping with water as soon as any kind of heat get near it, but they are not.
      Also If it were ice it would be visible from space, because it was in abundance.
      If all the water on the earth turned to ice it would be visible from space, if the water seeped into the ground then the planet would swell up from the inside in some places and not in others and perhaps over millions of years may even out but if that ice were to melt it would leave a huge cavern inside the planet and it would potentially shrink the surface but increase the outer layers.
      We see nothing even close to that, so it seems to me that if there were an abundance of water on mars it should by rights still be there and be easy to find.
      Oddly enough it's not.
      When the water on our planet froze much of it went to the poles and much of it just stayed as water kinda tells you something about how water behaves.

    • @stargazer-elite
      @stargazer-elite Před rokem +1

      @@flitsies there are 3 thing to explain
      1. The water got evaporated into the vacuum of space as the magnetic field disappeared and the atmosphere was stripped away by solar winds
      2. There is Ice on the poles not water Ice but there could be leftover water in there somewhere
      3. There is most likely water locked away underground

    • @flitsies
      @flitsies Před rokem

      @@stargazer-elite OK evaporating into space, very unlikely as far as 8m aware the only thing that evaporates into space is helium, also the 8ce would be floating around near Mars making it a serious hazard to anything near the planet.

    • @flitsies
      @flitsies Před rokem

      @@stargazer-elite Ice at the poles would have been seen, from space so they wouldn't need to search for ice or water they would know it was there.
      Underground water! Perhaps but then it would have had to have been complete and I don't think that would be possible unless there was virtually no water in the first place.
      So I find it odd, unless the water was deliberately removed, again not very likely, as there is no evidence to support the idea of aliens for sure no actual real evidence.
      So perhaps just perhaps there was no water there in the first place or such a small amount that it is invisible practically none existent.
      Only that which has collided with the planet as rock.
