Kanami Tono is on the lead guitar and shredding like a monster... She also writes the songs for the band (in cooperation with the others), a really talented rocklady. I mean they are all talented, but she stands out for me especially if you watch her in interviews etc., she is really shy, introvert and an daydreamer, sometimes she is just totally lost in her own mind. But if you give her a guitar and there is an stage, she is totally the opposite, like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Awesome band and nothing is coming even close to their abilities and chemistry IMO!

As you know, BAND-MAID is a ROCK BAND made up of all women. And most of the songs they play on LIVE are songs composed by KANAMI(Lead Guitarist) and written by MIKU(Vocals/Rhythm Guitar). Except for early live performances. What is sung there is the hearts of women of the same generation as BAND-MAID members. Encounters, challenges, love, hopes, and such swaying feelings in everyday life are sung.Even in songs that sing love, the lyrics thoroughly express the feelings of the female side. Welcome to Band Maid!!!! I’ve seen your other reactions (e.g. Sohyang) and it’s wonderful that you’ve now stumbled upon this musical gem. Yes, they are a very rare breed in terms of their song-writing, technical skills and charisma (they carry none of the “celebrity” type airs and are actually very humble and funny in their interviews - basically, people you’d love to hang out with and have a few beers). Blooming is actually one of their most technically advanced songs and it’s a great introduction to the band. Thanks! For their MVs it is their style to feature their instruments and playing their instruments rather than their faces. So only the 2 vocalists get more face time because their mouths and faces are their instruments.

I see that I am the 30th one to leave a comment :P But nice reaction on Blooming. Also, your curiosity on their identity not being shown, was on purpose because hence the name "Blooming" just similar to a flower that needs lots of energy to pop open and shown its beauty to the world. With that in mind, why not do the same thing for the MV. If you want to see them more beautiful, you can check out their alter-ego Band-Maiko where they wear traditional kimono's with some traditional Japanese instruments in the background as well.
Welcome to your journey down the pigeon hole. I prepared this little guide to help you handle the adventure you are about to embark on. Once upon a time in Japan.... Miku (Who is a 300+ year old pigeon... long story) was in a short lived "idol" band in Japan and ended up working in a "Maid Cafe". She came up with idea to create a rocking band in maid costumes. A "Gap" as its called in appearance to action. Miku found singer/songwriter Kaname (Lead Guitar and main Composer), who knew Akane - AKA "The Gorilla - she likes bananas a lot! (drums - Jazz and Classically Trained), who knew Misa - AKA the "Barefoot Assassin" (Bass, Jazz and Classically trained). [Grab a post-it now and paste to your desk - Miku (B/U and Rhythm,) Kaname (Lead) Akane (Drums) Misu (Bass) Saiki (Vocals)] Putting it together... It became apparent Mikus voice wasn't really suited to the style and so they decided to go find Lead Vocals and brought in Saiki. This basically put Miku out of a job in the band she created, but instead she adapted and Kaname started teaching her guitar. That's right. She couldn't even play in the first video they did 6 years ago. Now she has a 70-80s style aggressive punk style attack on rhythm and Kaname is constantly expanding her guitar parts in challenging ways. All while singing backup. Personally, I never could sing and play ha-ha Their first actual song they wrote and recorded was "Alone". They have changed label since and have joined a new one now for the new album going into 2021. Their look, songs, style etc. are their own. Not studio directed. Pretty cool these days. Note: Miku is the main lyricist and writes in heavy metaphors that can be interpreted many ways and often confusing in translation. So, they often add parts that audiences of any language can sing along.

Pop,rock,punk,funk,metal and often many in the one song. The guitarist? One of the best and the genius songwriter. Kanami. Started with piano now lead guitar. Akane aka Gorilla plays drums Fast,happy,oh so happy and so good. Look at the song Freedom live. Miku aka small pigeon,plays rhythm guitar and started the band after working as a maid. Sings backing vocals. Misa on bass,aka The Assassin Saiki is the lead vocalist and Ice Queen. Watch the music video for Real Existence for better clarity and close ups. Their music is so varied. Rinne is heavy to Daydreaming a power ballad to Don’t you tell me live with great duelling bass and lead solos where they perform best to Onset live for magnificent tapping from Kanami to the acoustic versions of Anemone and Puzzle for an emotional vocal from Saiki. Creativity,genre diversity,innovative styles. It what makes for a great band. Band Maid have those qualities. You can have great artists but that doesn’t always create great art. The songwriting and song structure does that. It’s stunning stuff. You’ve started a journey here. With a new album release on Jan 20,there’ll be about 100 songs in their catalogue. Not sure if by the end you figured it out since its a BAND... and they are dressed as MAIDS... hence band-maid :D . The reason for this is that the founder Miku who is the backup singer/ rhythm quitarist worked in a "maid cafe" which is a popular japanese thing and wanted to mix that with a hard rock sound. Dice is another really popular video but they have many popular videos. Live clips from the recent concert in SHIBUYA are very popular. The song Freedom has a great drum solo. TELLING me that you love me A thousand times just to make noise is something a 15yo would do and it's silly so just tone it down a bit. Trust me you will never be as interesting as these girls. They are talented and kind of strange and you will discover just how nutty they are as you watch interviews that are always funny. Keep going with Band Maid but act your age. You are not a child.

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. As you know, BAND-MAID is a ROCK BAND made up of all women.
And most of the songs they play on LIVE are songs composed by KANAMI(Lead Guitarist) and written by MIKU(Vocals/Rhythm Guitar). Except for early live performances.

Yes, they are a very rare breed in terms of their song-writing, technical skills and charisma (they carry none of the “celebrity” type airs and are actually very humble and funny in their interviews - basically, people you’d love to hang out with and have a few beers). Blooming is actually one of their most technically advanced songs and it’s a great introduction to the band. Thank you for Reaction BAND MAID. BAND MAID is a 5-member girls rock band. They are hard rock band and are now considered by fans to be one of the best hard rock bands in the world. They usually perform 23 songs and 2 hours live. They were formed in Japan in 2013 by side guitarist Miku Kobato. Kobato had experience working at a maid cafe in Akihabara Tokyo and had the idea of playing hard rock with a maid costume. That's why the band was named Band-Maid. "Thrill" was their first music video in 2014, played 2 million times in two weeks and saved them from breaking up. At that time they were just around 20-23 years old. And then they have been doing LIVE overseas and increasing their fans. Now they are writing, composing and arranging all the songs. 31 songs have been released on their official CZcams, all of which are killer songs.

But nice reaction on Blooming. Also, your curiosity on their identity not being shown, was on purpose because hence the name "Blooming" just similar to a flower that needs lots of energy to pop open and shown its beauty to the world. With that in mind, why not do the same thing for the MV.

Once upon a time in Japan....
Miku (Who is a 300+ year old pigeon... long story) was in a short lived "idol" band in Japan and ended up working in a "Maid Cafe". She came up with idea to create a rocking band in maid costumes. A "Gap" as its called in appearance to action.
Miku found singer/songwriter Kaname (Lead Guitar and main Composer), who knew Akane - AKA "The Gorilla - she likes bananas a lot! (drums - Jazz and Classically Trained), who knew Misa - AKA the "Barefoot Assassin" (Bass, Jazz and Classically trained).

Putting it together...
It became apparent Mikus voice wasn't really suited to the style and so they decided to go find Lead Vocals and brought in Saiki. This basically put Miku out of a job in the band she created, but instead she adapted and Kaname started teaching her guitar. That's right. She couldn't even play in the first video they did 6 years ago. Now she has a 70-80s style aggressive punk style attack on rhythm and Kaname is constantly expanding her guitar parts in challenging ways. All while singing backup.

Their first actual song they wrote and recorded was "Alone". They have changed label since and have joined a new one now for the new album going into 2021. Their look, songs, style etc. are their own. Not studio directed.

Note: Miku is the main lyricist and writes in heavy metaphors that can be interpreted many ways and often confusing in translation. So, they often add parts that audiences of any language can sing along.

Dice is another really popular video but they have many popular videos. Live clips from the recent concert in SHIBUYA are very popular. The song Freedom has a great drum solo. TELLING me that you love me A thousand times just to make noise is something a 15yo would do and it's silly so just tone it down a bit. Trust me you will never be as interesting as these girls.
