  • I installed this about 2 years ago and it's a great system. Many have asked me about it so I decided to shot a video explaining it, showings it's operation, and explaining about the install. Trust the install is super simple to get the basics of all you need for a Spyder.

    Nice vid rob. How do I disarm the autolock function so I can manually lock it like yours? Thanks

    I have the same alarm so you need to hit disarm 6 times so auto arm does not activate?

    Hi Bob, when you remove key from motorcycle, it chirps 3 times....will that always be standard, or can it be permanently switched off!!!...., thank-you..., had mine for 5 years now, mine is the rechargeable 1, but still 5000, should be still the same.... 👍

      That is programmable. It reminds you that you have not armed the system. By default the unit auto arms. I turned that off as I don't need it armed every time (like my garage). SO the 3 chirps is telling you "hey arm it". But that too can be disabled.

    What that pouch on top of your trunk lid? I need something like that.

      That is actually a BRP Can-AM RT accessory. I do not know if they sell it anymore. Go on BRP's website and look at accessories for the RT.

    Hey Ron I have the f3 S with passenger seat. Did everything hook up under the seat? Or did u have to get power source elsewhere?

    • @FinlessBob
      @FinlessBob  Před 2 lety +1

      I can’t speak for the F3 but on my RT everything hooked up under the seat tapping into wires in the main wiring harness.

    Just a minor correction. The engine stop switch is not on the Can Bus. So it would not be a big deal to splice into that circuit if you wanted.

    • @FinlessBob
      @FinlessBob  Před 5 lety

      Ron Michiels actually not a correction. That Kill part of the alarm connects to the ignition to shut down the coil from giving spark plugs getting a spark. I don’t think you can hook to the Kill switch but maybe to where the Kill switch does it’s Kill? So again not sure you can just tap that one part into the Kill switch itself.

    • @ronmichiels5008
      @ronmichiels5008 Před 5 lety

      @@FinlessBob My main point is the kill switch is not on the Can Bus. But I took a look at install instructions wiring diagram for the Spy alarm system. It shows cutting the key on power wire to the CDI ignition and splicing the alarm in between. So open circuit will not run. Closed circuit will run. The kill switch circuit is the same. Open circuit will not run. Closed circuit will run. So cutting the kill switch wire and splicing in the alarm will do the same thing.

    • @FinlessBob
      @FinlessBob  Před 5 lety

      Ron Michiels OK sounds good. So where to tap in other than up in the handlebar? Anywhere close to where I put the alarm unit?

    • @FinlessBob
      @FinlessBob  Před 5 lety

      Ron Michiels oh and the remote start function would be fun just for jollies. But with the need to press mode after key is turned on, kind of worthless unless you leave the key on after shut down. Is the start button on the canbuss?

    • @ronmichiels5008
      @ronmichiels5008 Před 5 lety

      @@FinlessBob On a 2011 like yours the kill switch runs to the DESS module. So anywhere in between should work.
      I really don't see a need for a remote start but it could be a novel thing to do. Then you could not connect to the kill switch as I suggested previously. DESS is not hard to get around. Take the antenna off the the ignition switch. Hide it under the body work somewhere with a key taped to it. The DESS will see that hidden key everytime. Press mode button issue maybe could get around. The color display has quirk that if you cut off it's power supply. The first start after powering back up. There is no need to press the mode button. Maybe that could be used. The start button is not on the CanBus.
