- The Tour Down Under provided exciting racing and some unexpected wins, from BORA-Hansgrohe's spectacular sprints to the rising star of Isaac del Toro. Could he be the next Pogačar? In cyclocross, the season may be drawing to a close, but Benidorm brought the most epic battle so far in the UCI World Cup, with Mathieu van der Poel eventually being pushed off his podium by the powerhouse, Wout Van Aert. How did he manage to dethrone MVDP?

What did you make of the Benidorm cyclocross race? 🚴
Pidcock needs to pace himself better. That's twice he's got to the front and faded towards the end.
Loved it. Great to see that even the titans crash and great to see Wout win a race.
Easily one of the most exciting cross races of the season. Hoped for Pidcock to pull it off but stoked for Wout as well!
@gcnracing
Fantastic racing love it; I'm very sorry I can't attend the race, I'm studying in Valencia 🇪🇸
Best wishes this year in your channel.
See you soon 😘
I thought I didnt pay attention and missed MVDPs crash but it looks now like it was off camera. Darn CZcams titles spoiled the race for me, I knew what was gonna happen. Wouts crash surprised me, but I loved it cause he is me fave
"thankfully he's already fathered a couple of children" lol. wVA and MvDP are just crazy athletes.
WVA and MVDP are still not human. Going from down 30 spots and into the race lead in 4 laps was crazy to watch. Also MVDP riding CX part-time and getting himself into the top 10 overall in points because he won every race he entered this season prior to this race. Then seeing WVA ride on the seatpost to a win and only because he tried to not hop over for the 1st time all race. Also, it seems like WVA rode out of Zone 2 for the first time all CX season, getting ready for his classics season. Both MVDP and WVA's acceleration in the sprint climb were a different level to everyone in the race. The field needs the handicap of those 2 starting 30 places down.
Hope the women's CX will become similar to the MVDP & WVA rivalry. Fem and Puck were entertaining.
Del Toro is so fun to watch.
The Bora train. Van Poppel is such a great lead out.
Gotta love Dans take on Wout sitting on a seatpost....
This was actually my very first time watching a cyclocross race and I feel like I have spoiled any races to come 😅😅
Yeah you might want to be selective; cyclocross is a mixed bag: some of the courses are pretty bland but you'll find a fair few that are a bit mental
@@whatwelearned The courses are whatever the riders make them though. This was actually a really bland course, but the riders made it super entertaining.
If it is the first time yiu watched a CX race you have to watch the CX of Namur 2020. The best race I have seen for the last 10 years
Those mvdp attacks were only a wow stuff!!😮
In 2025 Dan Lloyd should become a Team Director of a world tour team and win at least one Grand tour, preferably the Tour de France
That MDVP lap 3 watt bomb was incredible to watch. Must have been doing 1200 watts for a few seconds there
Yes very very impressive, he was a lot more powerful than others
Bewley and Impy in the car is the highlight! 😂
Been waiting all year for Wout to win a cyclocross race, MVDP has been on another level. I was watching live and just let myself relax as he attacked and gapped Vanthourenhout and dismounted for the barriers the last time, I thought wise, safe choice and then........ crashes trying to remount!!!! I was beside myself..... broke his saddle of in the process. Sometimes it ain't easy being a WVA fan!!!
😅 Виграв тому що йому чемпіон позволив виграти
He stands up as he crosses the finnish line. Only the post is left. 😮 Enough adrenaline and you can ride on a stick 😂
No, I'm pretty sure Wout is just hard as nails. You can see the saddle with the rails flying and also just the seatpost when he crosses the finish line.
Yes, he definitely lost the whole saddle, including the rails. What was left, and may be confusing people, is the seat clamp.
Benidorm cylocross was by far the best race of the season(men and women) and the crowds was also the best.
The circuit was shitty for riders
It wasn't really; it's just those that didn't watch the earlier races in the season think so.
Those were two of the best cross races we've seen in years. Not a fan of the super fast courses like that, but produced some great racing.
Thanks, Dan. Once again, into the breach... Looking forward to your reports this year. Cheers.
Great win by WVA. It was a great race. Even though MVDP wad unlucky, we did have a proper fight between the two this time around. Even Pidcock played his role!
what was proper fight? you serious too lmao. matty crashes and waut attacked when he realized he went from like 5th to 50th. classy. matty gets all that back in a few laps and blows his doors off on the climb. waut was lucky matty had another incident, and goes again. classy. it was a fortunate win he was deperate for. mvdp still is the big dog between them.
@@danjo1967 pretty fair, WVA started almost last because of his pedals in the start... he fell once too.... so your point?
Take the MVDP-fanboy glasses of and enjoy the race man... deserved win for Van Aert this time! Pretty happy Pidcock was in a better form as wel.
@@danjo1967 delusional simp go touch grass
What a legend the MvP. Proud to be dutch!
Maar de meeste 'DUTCH'grote sportmensen wonen wel in Belgie waar heel veel koersen en crossen van internationaal belang zijn.In Nederland één koers op de weg en 2 crossen van beetje niveau.Proud to be en life in Belgium.
@@joshurkmans5232 ik was ook nog liever een Belg geweest maar Nederlander zijn is geen slechte tweede keuze😉
Great episode, chaps!👏😊
Both Benidorm cross races were great 👍👍
Hello hello GCN
Thanks a lot, you always bring us an awesome news
Benidorm CX was awesome, I'm so sorry I can't attend the race I'm studying in Valencia 🇪🇸
Best wishes from Valencia 🇪🇸
See you soon
🇧🇻🌹🇧🇻🌹
I missed the race last sunday have been so looking forward to this
"Thankfully, he's already a father of two children" 😂😂😂😂
DO. NOT. CHANGE. Guys, you're the best 💪
I love this. thanks for sharing
2010 World Champion and 10 time stage winner in the Tour, Thor Hushovd is the new General Manager og Team Uno-X.
That might be exiting for them.
Didn´t Dan ride with him in Cervelo Test-Team?
Isn’t “grip it and rip it” a quote from Zoolander (by Hansel, IIRC)?
"It wasn't the deepest field of sprinters....." ya you could say that again
@2:31 del Toro is looking quite Van der Poel-esque
Venga Del Toro!!
That POC helmet tho
was that dave in the back of the israel premier tech car ?
Nothing like a world tour event in your local area to make any chance of that KOM you were striving for completely unattainable.
Come on, even bots crash.
9:25 clear shot of what was left of his saddle/post.
These guys aren't human. I guess the padded shorts came in clutch.
Grip it and rip it. You might want to check out the classic Kevin Costner film "Tin Cup"
it wasn't his saddle, it was his glasses!!
What will be the best way to watch cycling in Europe not when GCN+ is no more 😢❤
Grip it and rip it is a golf term.
The only time Wout looks truly happy is when he beats MvDP!!
“Grip it and rip it… there’s a new term for you” NEW???
Why not "The GCN Tour " ?
Last year Arnaud De Lie won a World Tour race, Grand Prix of Quebec, with Lotto Destiny that was not a World Tour team.
I meant world tour stage race, sorry.
9:38 Can someone ask wVA that question: what did you sit on?
"Daryl Impey". Unless/until you've lived in the U.K. (or possibly possibly a former colony -- cue discussion of varied complicated histories) you don't really know how to say and hear that name. Love it.
Greetings from SA. Still sad about GCN and GCN + btw!
Who got Wout's sunglasses!?
Please please any news re how Oz viewers can subscribe to Discovery to get decent race coverage?
"Grip it and rip it" is a golf term. Does Daniel Ricciardo know that Sam stole his "shoey"?
I have heard these words before, on another level, super human! Remember Lance!
Did sour not lose a shoe?
@11:05 why didn't she shut the door? Fatigue drains the mind as much as the body.
Mechanical cost MvDP the race. Simple as that.
Not really.... Van Aert had a slipup with his clips at the start and was almost dead last, so i guess it evens it out.
Both rode really well though
Grip it and rip it was originally used by John Daley to denote his golf swing. It's not something new.
Isaac del Toro... or as the Aussie race presenters say... Izak 🤣
7:42 wtf
56-10? Are you serious?
It was Van Aert's sunnies. lol
No, it was his saddle. When he raised his arms across the line, he had to raise himself up from the seatpost and grip the top tube with his knees. You can see that the saddle isn’t there in the shot of him crossing the line.
1:18 what is he saying??
Oy Sam. Drinking anything from a shoe is just nasty.

You could make an objective episode on this and debunk me :)
If you are a female teenager, train like a pro and manage your weight like a pro, there is a 100% chance you become one. If you didnt totally lose the genetic lottery. Incredible how they get so much exposure with so little interest. This is an artificial push by the industry to get women to buy bikes. I am really curious how long that will last for and if it will be successful, good for them. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for all these hard working athletes, most athletes deserve more payback. They should ride the wave as long as they can.
The one gcn presenter I never look forward to
