It should have been a 6-episode limited series
The kid that played David was spot on.
The Triumph and Tragedy of WCCW is a great, comprehensive documentary on not only the Von Erichs but World Class as a whole. It honestly might be a better watch than the movie.
It also covers the tragic story of Gino Hernandez.
I watched it right after I saw the movie (its on Peacock). It's a great companion piece. It should be an extra on the DVD release.
Do more film reviews! I trust you far more than the bought & paid for critics.
It’s funny the guy who played David was easily the biggest wrestling fan irl that got casted in the movie, and it shows. He played David better then the other brothers played their characters.
I remember WM 8 when the Ultimate Warrior came out with short hair styled in the way of Kerry's perm. Everyone assumed that it was Kerry posing as the Warrior and that Jim Hellwig had died.
Harley Race as a righty. . . somehow, bugged me!! Which annoyed me because the actor looked so much like Harley
I have not been able to see the movie yet myself. I'm physically disabled and cannot find anybody to take me to the theater to go see it. Based on all the reviews I've heard from friends and other states that have seen it and that I've seen here on CZcams. I almost feel like this would have been a better story for like an eight part mini-series.
I saw the movie and thought it was very good, they could have got a better actor to play Ric Flair is my only complaint.
So far, it’s made $18M on a $15M budget. Another great movie made this year on only $15M (Along with Godzilla-1). The movie will get released in the UK in February.
Lapsed Fan podcast did a FANTASTIC deepdive on this subject
The WCCW and CWA deal was a merger in middle of 1989 to form the USWA. The movie has it that it was sold to Jerry Jarrett in the summer of 1990 - a year later.
I wish they would had zac and jeremy wear lifts
I have thoughts. The first of many, is that the Flair & Race stuff was hilariously bad. The promos were ironically bad, like Machete. But it’s so alarming to me as a wrestling fan. Like if that’s Hollywood’s interpretation of Ric Flair and Harley Race, what’s their interpretation of actual people of importance? Like MLK, Lincoln, etc.
The size of Kerry really irked me. Just a little bit of camera trickery & effort would’ve gone a long way.
Was Fritz reeeeally that obsessed with one of the boys winning the NWA belt? He was absolutely pushing for David or one of them to be world champ, but he owned the territory! Of course he was politicking for one of his roster to be world champ. Him & literally every other territory in the country. But I’ve never heard of this pure obsession with the NWA belt itself.
I think that was to drive home the idea that Fritz was not the best father.
Jeremy Allen White looked more like real life Chris than Kerry.
From a guy who want watch wwe studios you sound like a broken record posting this! Schleg ❤❤ 😂😂
i wasn’t expecting everything to be accurate but i still really enjoyed the movie. it had great acting and really portrayed how the brothers loved each other. i do agree that Chris should have been in the movie but i also see where people are coming from when they say it could have been too much.
Bugged me that Doris sittin at home indifferent bout Kerry wiinin title. In reality she was in TX Stadium so elated
Chris' death was the deathnail to Fritz and Doris' marriage. When she lost her baby, she was done.
In other words, this movie needed to be a Netflix series.
Or trimmed down in scope to just being a Kerry von Erick movie; which would've had a perfect ending with the river boat scene.
The downside of biopics in general are that it gives the makers the liberty to add a lot of BS to them for "entertainment" purposes.
That's what they tell you but it's actually to excuse the bad writing.
if you want exactly what happened just watch a documentary in my opinion
@@chrisfish4788agreed
I thought it was a wonderful film, they literally made it less dramatic than real life in this case
One thing the movie did not show was that they were drug addicts
Bruiser Brody was like 6 foot 8, homie. It’s just insanity dude. Idk the more we’re talking about it, the less I’m liking it.
Dude what a missed chance with Mike and that press conference. He looked so unbelievably gaunt and deathly in the actual press conference. In the movie he looked confused.
That scene was pretty damn close. I got a lump in my stomach. Poor Mike.
And actually seeing Kerry without a foot was very unsettling.
I liked the Texas Tornado because he looked like The Ultimate Warrior lol
i agree that it should have centered around Kerry
Considering the importance of this family accuracy should matter for the most. Like I love Zac Efron but cmon this feels like a Efron movie more than anything.
I really liked the movie. I'm under the age of 30 and I knew little about the Von Erichs other than they all died besides Kevin. To me the movie is way more story driven around the connection/relationship of 4 brothers and how they dealt with the pressure of their abusive father. And how No one would stand up to Fritz. I could care less about the historical inaccuracy. The only thing that annoyed me was how terrible actor playing Ric Flair was.
They never once even used the words Yellow Rose.
Man. I agree with everything you’ve said.
Chris is upstairs in the Winslow house with the Winslow's daughter
Kevin was/is my favorite Von Eric
It’s pretty good but inaccurate. They were way bigger addicts than depicted. Plus Chris.
Its hard to duplicate a white man with jerry curl ala Harley Race
Off-topic, but was I the only one surprised there weren't there weren't a bunch of flaming keyboards over Chavo being cast as Sabu's uncle?
No, I didn't even know about that until now
@@Lemont5236Yeah, I woulda thought the same people calling out the actual ethnicities of Muhammad Hassan & Camacho would be all over that
Bro Ryan Nemeth was cast as Gino Hernandez 😂😂
@@papitads1066Good point
Were there any flaming keyboards for that?
To me the movie is 8 out of 10
Zac Efron looked like he had 100+ injections of Botox on his face.
So, everything you say is true, bu you seem so mad about it. Why?
I'm curious if this movie is a flop. Does anyone under the age of 40 care about the Von Erichs?
Cnnc
I want to see the biopic
