How to Upholster a Knee-Rise Seat Cushion for a Speedboat

- This tutorial video is part of our Speedboat Makeover Series, where we update the interior of a used Malibu speedboat to look brand-new. You too can update any used powerboat by following this video series. This tutorial covers the process for re-covering seats that feature a knee-rise, a boxing running around all sides and a cover stapled to a backer board. We used CushionRite™ foam for the filling and a vinyl seating fabric called EverSoft™ that is exclusively sold at Sailrite®.

Where was this video 5 yrs ago when I did my wakesetter? Oh, well. Also, you may not want to copy those vinyl colors or you will burn your legs in the summer. I would go with as much white as possible and change the color of the beading and thread to add interest.

When should you put sew foam on top of the other foam? Since you only put it on half of it, what determines when and where you use it?
When you started to stitch the boxing, why did you start sewing in the back?

Note that he's not using a Sharpie to mark on the vinyl. Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't use Sharpie on your vinyl. It will bleed through, eventually.

Learned the hard way. Pulled out an old seat I redid and was able to read everything I wrote on it. haha
What is the fabric that's being used for the fabric pull between the foam pieces? I see the pattern making stuff is called Dura- Scrim.
Does anyone else find it ironic that that say rite is not saying the name right?

A Suise sewing magnet on your scissors acts as a fine cutting guide to keep you 1/2 inch off the line.
What? I am going to go try it now. Thanks for the suggestion, if it works I will make a short video showing using it.
@@SailriteDIY It's my GoTo. I do only canvas work with massive ConSew machines, but we do use the Sailrite as well.
