How to Upholster a Helm Seat for a Speedboat

- This tutorial video is part of our Speedboat Makeover Series, where we update the interior of a used Malibu speedboat to look brand-new. You too can update any used speedboat by following this video series. This tutorial covers the process for reupholstering the captain's or helm seat, which features a removable cushion and backrest. The backrest incorporates lumbar support, which we easily added using Sailrite® CushionRite™ Standard Antimicrobial Foam (Soft). We also used a vinyl seating fabric called EverSoft™ that is exclusively sold at Sailrite.

I love the fact there is a company out there willing to teach without charging. I have learned everything I know from watching Sailrite's videos. I am now on my 4th restoration pontoon. Awesome tutorial.

Having had a "tournament ski boat" myself the hole on the back of the seat was made for an air bag for lumbar support. Sitting almost directly on the floor can cause a back cramp. The bag helps alleviate this.

I have the same boat just an open bow. Could of used this 10 years when it was redone.
You need to blast that old foam with presurized steam to pop it back to factory shape and kill all the black mold!!
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely give it a try and see if it helps restore the foam to its original shape and eliminate any mold.
