Great final game honestly. Both Rays and Jays played a heavy AAA roster today to rest the big players, give some keystones some final practice, let some youngsters experience an October crowd (of sorts), and quite possibly, determine any holes they may have going in. I know the Jays lost, but scoring 8 runs when being down that early was a good litmus test for the offence.
For the Rays, they may need to figure out Margot's situation in the OF, 3 big errors in one partially meaningless series might be worrisome in the big games to come. Maybe Siri will make the return in time. They got a big series with Texas coming up.
For the Jays, I think (and I hope they see the same) it's clear that Richards can't be anywhere near high-leverage in October. Since coming back from the IL, his ERA is at something like 13.0, he's been giving up runs nearly every appearance. The team is there, it'll just be if the bats show up in Minnesota or go ice cold again. Minnesota's got sneaky good pitching, the fandom shouldn't be underestimating them unless they want a nasty shock. Still better than the full-force Rays and Orioles bracket who have killed them all year though.
No matter what happens, I think the Jays fought adversity with their less than fun offence this year. Even through all the stretches of forgetting how to hit baseballs, their defence and pitching got them to 89 wins and a spot. Whatever happens now, happens. Regardless of where they land, they should really address their analytics and coaching departments for next year. They turned a lot of hot bats cold this year, burned around 70% of their challenges, lost probably around 10 winnable games with poor pinching decisions. That's awful especially after coming off of how their 2022 abruptly ended.
Good luck to everyone going forward. Should be an interesting postseason no matter what.

Might be an unpopular opinion: but kudos to Wes Parsons. You had to eat it today, but you got us 4 innings. Not a fun job to do.

eh.. i think being prepared and going into the postseason feeling good about your execution and team unity is what matters most. they had an underwhelming up and down season and barely snuck into the playoffs with some pretty disappointing performances from their bigs. I don't think getting into the playoffs should be seen as an accomplishment for this team, I think that's a loser's mindset to view that as being successful. anything short of a close ALCS series for the Jays should deservedly draw a lot of criticism. if they can get to the ALCS and either keep it to a close series or go beyond, then I think you can feel good about them. they have a lot of work to do and a lot to prove than a 89-73 record and barely holding onto the last wild card spot.

The Rays had a great season even after all of the injuries and losses they've had. They've lost McClanahan, Rasmussen, Springs, Lowe, and Franco and are still finished right behind the O's. The Blue Jays had a good season too, and look improved in their pitching and defense since last year. These will be two tough teams in the playoffs. Congrats to the Rays and Blue Jays and good luck in the postseason

The Bucs finish this season 99-63. Why this seasons gonna bye fast. It's kinda making me sad knowing that we already at the end of this season. As crazy as it might sound, this was a pretty good game for the Jays. Most of the rays runs came off of Parsons, while the offence showed some spark and managed to score 8 runs, with some of their regulars not in the lineup. Let's hope they can keep this up going into the playoffs.

Feeling like the wildcard playoff games between Twins - Blue Jays will be governed mostly by strong pitching and defence. Two of the strongest pitching staffs in the American League. A team could be victorious by scoring just 3 to 5 runs per game.

All playoff series should be best 4 of 7. Ensures the best / deepest team advances. Shorten spring training and/or start it earlier in the year. Players stay in shape year-round, not like the old days where players waited until Spring Training. Give the Players Union a good cut of the extra playoff game revenue.
Jays got lucky drawing the Twins to open the playoffs. However, I don't think they can beat any of the other AL playoff teams (Orioles, Rays, Rangers, Astros), and I'm a Jays fan, so one and done looks like the best-case scenario.
You might be right,but if you’re the injured/suspended roster of the Rays,are you eager to take on jays starting pitching? They might have Kikuchi eat innings also. Not many teams have the depth jays have on the mound. Best 3/5 the best team doesn’t always win.

To be fair, an L for Blue Jays means not meeting Orioles until ALCS under the most probable circumstances, and that’s as good as it gets. A great strategic loss that will extend their post season stretch
