Complete Railroad Switching Job, CSX Flat Railway Yard Switching! Maysville Kentucky Trains C&O Main

- CSX local freight flat yard switching. 4 man crew working GP 38s along the Ohio River at Maysville, Kentucky on the ex Chesapeake & Ohio Railway line from Cincinnati to Russell, Kentucky. Amtrak passes here 6 times a week and we saw one go by. We stayed at the French Quarter Inn in Maysville with a view of the railroad and the Ohio river. I started filming the local around 5pm. Then we ate at Caproni's Restaurant with a view of the tracks. We had room #310 at the French Quarter Inn with a perfect close up view of the railroad. In 18 and a half hours there were 3 locals but two of them only came from Cincinnati area to the yard and back. There was an empty welded rail train, one Amtrak train and 2 through freights. The Inn has a nice patio at the top of the flood wall with a great view of the tracks and the river. I thought more trains would go by but since coal is still way down, there isn't much moving on this line other than locals and a few through freights. This is the Ohio River Sub and uses 160.230. I believe I filmed this on August 7, 2019.
Filmed in 1080p with 30fps.

Was that Mrs. Jawtooth recording? The inn sounds like a cool place to stay at and I hope that you got some good Italian food at Caproni’s. The RCLs fascinate me. Thanks for sharing.
Do you mean that woman recording with her phone at around 3:45? I spotted her too and thought how unusual it is to see a female railfan.
Rob Adams yep. Looks like Mrs. Jawtooth.
Yes, that was her! She does some recording for me from time to time. She got me a really great night time street runner video from West Virginia. She also recorded a train in Hawaii for me but the kids erased it before I downloaded it. lol
Welcome to my hometown....I loved watching those trains while working that end of Maysville while on mail routes.
Very cool!
One of my favorite JT videos. What a beautiful place. 😉
Glad you enjoyed it
Sound great those GP40.3's. Thank God for those locals..
Nice video!
Hi there. Dear my friend, Mr. Brian. How are you doing?
Thank you for releasing this lovely new freight train video. Your freight train video seems to be just a good teatime to explore how to live the future for patients forced to lie in bed. Overseas travelers traveling in the Japanese archipelago are forced to cancel or change their destination due to the typhoon that strikes, but cannot resist the unpredictable natural environment. Let's enjoy the release freight train video. I wish you all the best. God bless.
From Tokyo bay area - Yokosuka city in Japan.Your friend :-) Sawa.
Jaw Tooth you must have the most understanding family; hell, my family thinks I'm weird for my obsession with trains!
Yup, my family too! Oh well!
JT You are a Very Lucky Man You Have a Beautiful Family and a Beautiful Wife Awesome Video God Bless You and Your Family.
My parents stay at the French quarters there in Kentucky. When they go see Family It’s a nice place. Love the video excellent catch JT
Awesome! Thank you! We stayed at the motel downtown to watch the trains. It was cool seeing Amtrak
I really love your videos! I enjoy your verbal style and the great train stuff you video for us! Jawtooth is my favorite subscription!
JT, excellent video, I could sit there having lunch all day long, watching those operations!
THANK YOU, This is the first video that I had seen that actually shows what happens when we drop or pick up cars. And really this is a easy pick up. There were a few things the Conductor did wrong ( but in the real world of a conductor it means nothing ) BUT in the messed up world of a Train Master ( hiding behind a bush or dumpster ) this good man would have been wrote up for several violations, that could cost him his job. THIS IS how messed up the railroad Ind. is ( CSX for sure ).
I don't know what the railroad rules are. I know you guys have a huge book of rules. Can you tell us one or two that were done wrong although I don't want to get him in trouble.
@@JawTooth You won't get him in trouble, it's already passed. But our TM would have wrote him up for not throwing the switch correctly, meaning he used one hand and was not positioned correctly before he even did that. #2 Also the Conductor was not in a stationary position ( standing still facing the movement ) when he instructed the Engr. to start shoving. #3 And this is a biggie the Conductor did not get 2 car lengths before he crossed over ( this was about 8min 50secs into the video ) also he did not wait till the train stopped before he crossed over the tracks. #4 the Conductor started the train movement before he was stationary by the coupling. @ 9mins 50secs, I did not hear the Conductor get 3 step before he went in between the cars to lace them up, but since this is just someone filming I'll give the Conductor a benefit of a doubt. Once again the film jumped from 9mins 50 odd secs to 10mins ( this gave enough time for the Conductor to walk to the end of the train) also I'm thinking the person filming did not catch the Conductor ( on the radio ) stating " I'm in the clear, ( then stating his position / location at the rear of the train ) the Conductor did give a car count though. @ 11mins 33secs he would have been wrote up for not protecting the shove, because he lost sight of the bottom end while he was walking across the tracks ( also a no no cause he was not stationary ). @12mins 20secs when the train started pulling I never heard the Conductor advise the Engr. to release 3 step and he was in the clear riding on the bottom and to go ahead. @14mins 33 secs once again the Conductor started the train movement without being stationary to protect the shove. I'm going to stop here cause I'm getting tired of typing. I know far to well how ridiculous this all sounds, and it is, but this is what these ( and I will refrain from using the words that they deserve ) train masters do, I know, cause I have been wrote up too for ridiculous crap also. In my opinion the Conductor did fine. I will close with this, The President of the UTU stated ( and he started out like most of us did ) that he could not figure out "why the rail road would invest all this money to train someone, and from day one, try to fire us".
That was Awesome! Especially the End!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks Jaw Tooth. I appreciate all Maysville vids as this is where my rainfan career started as a little kid. Grandpa worked for the C&O and lived in the apartment above Capronis, a great vantage point.
Maysville Ky, a very historic city! Founded in 1784 by Simon Kenton and Daniel Boone. I have lived in Florida for over 2o years, but your videos make me miss southern Oh and Ky.
But I dont miss the winters, lol. I'll bet Carponi's gets a lot of rail fans. Great vid as usual Brian!
With all the crazy things going on in the world today it’s nice to watch your videos. They’re very calming.
That's cool to see some switching done :), love ur view from ur motel room I'm jealous
I guess it's kinda off topic but does anybody know of a good website to stream new tv shows online?
@Kade Jaxx Flixportal xD
Great switching action video JT. What a great place to stay on a vacation. You got the trains, the river and that beautiful bridge in the background, plus a nice place to eat and railfan at the same time. Now if only I could get my wife to railfan with me. Your a lucky man.
I would go to visit some of these places if I still had anyone to go with. Traveling around by myself just isn't as much fun as it used to be. This was really nice.
Really nice action JT and Live!!!
Thanks for watching!
Great Video JT. It was interesting to see the Conductor put the hand brake on the Grain Car before they were shoved back by the Locos.I always thought that the brakes were automatically applied when the loco separated from the cars. You live and learn. Thanks again JT.
Wow Brian this was absolutely amazing, I really loved the Graffiti express LOL, amazing thanks :-)
Thanks Erik!
Great Video! Capronies is a great place to eat. Loved it when I ate there!
Very nice. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.
Love to see switching action, thanks JT. Those tank cars in the siding are labelled up for hot ammonium nitrate solution, which is interesting.
Pretty cool stuff, Brian. Thanks for posting 👍👍
Good Stuff JT !!
Me gusto mucho excelentes maniobras. Muy bien

Beautiful, thanks for sharing.
Awesome hotel room right near train tracks !
Great Lashup On The Switching Job.
Hi JT another great video, good to see what goes on to change tracks, add wagons and move the trains to the front!
Great video JT. Greetings from the UK.
That was totally awesome! Thank you.
Pretty cool spot and video w the GP40-3
Nice video as always, looks like you had a good day for it
Awesome switching video!!
Better than anything on TV. Ever.
Cool hotel
Great video 👍 Jaw tooth 🚄🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋🚋!
Nice Video, JawTooth.
Back last century. I use to haul Tobacco out of Parker Tobacco Co. in Maysville. Nice people out there.
Great video as always.
Cool video. Thanks
Made it to Capronis tonight and saw pretty much the same thing you did. But our crew tied up the train and left it parked on the siding across from the station. Good food and we had a railside seat indoors.
Enjoyed the video!
Great video Brian.Went to Capronis on a Saturday evening about a month ago.Manifest went through while we were there and at least one locomotive working the local train was sitting there idling.Almost two years ago I caught a Union Pacific power move with about 11 locomotives go through while we were having dinner.
Maysville Ky. is a nice town on the river.
Thanks for the video!
Awesome vid!
Big like!!
Happy weekend friend!
All the best Vladan....
Catching subscribers on the run.
Even the RR workers.... nice.
If anyone ever goes to this area, be sure to stop in Augusta Ky. It is about 20 miles downriver and this line goes right though to center of town. Great little shops and they have some good food...... And you might see George Clooney there since his Mom and Dad live in Augusta.
I ate at the restaurant in town that is next to the tracks. Pretty good place and friendly people. I also took pictures of the Clooney home. I want to return and film some trains going through town.
@@JawTooth Sadly, as you know, that line doesn't see a lot of traffic anymore. It was really busy back in the 50's though. It was almost all ruble track and the George Washington passenger train traveled this line twice a day.
Awesome! Live action! I shared 4003 from Ludlow yo dry ridge yesterday.
Gp 38 2. And gp 40 -3 love emd
I have to confess , just asked you where you’ve been on the CCET Group page and then I see this , glad your still out there, been missing the videos on the CCET

Thanks for watching!
Hi from Pennsylvania. Holy Hanna! JT there are two absolutely virgin cars in that consist: not yet despoiled by the paint morons. Nice to see. Thanks for your great and very interesting videos. CAS.
Very good 😊
Here to support your channel always with a 🖒💜❤
If you look closely at the DOWX cars, you'll notice that the roller bearings are actually painted blue! That's a really unusual feature - it's literally the first time I've ever seen roller bearings on cars painted like that. It certainly gives those (very clean!) hopper cars a unique look.
Excellent Video 🇮🇳
cool
8:25 That sounded like somebody got their bell rung! Great video, Jawtooth!
the location sure does remind me of the u.p. remote operations around martinez Ca. I miss the old S.P. around there
Just looked up the restaurant's menu, looks like they do really nice food
Looking forward to some drone videos in the future
It’s actually more hard too push the cars then pull them believe it or not.
Awesome catches Jawtooth! I'm getting some new videos up real soon, so stay tuned on my end (if you want, of course)....these will be my first edited videos in two years! I did have them up originally, but they weren't in HD so I have to reupload them.
It seems, tha Maysville station consists of nice historic buildings in good conditions.
One of those locomotives, CSX 2617, was stolen and taken on a seven mile joy ride in Florida back in 2009. The 22 year old thief started the engine and broke the locks on several switches. He told the police he and a friend were trying to get to a bar to see a band called Big Dick and the Extenders.
Brian, wasnt aware they made derailer's now for switching that sort of auto removed when the switch was activated thats kind of kewl @ 5:50
I love Mopars, the US Constitution. .....and trains...don't forget trains!!
@@dsmith9964 Me too D smith, growd up on Lionel's "O" Gage and still got em, altho working condition is ?? but luv big uns 2 LOL
@@moparluvrsgagarage2898 For me, it was HO or nothing!! Wish I still had my old Lionels! 😉
@@dsmith9964 May one day set it all back up but thats down the road a piece
@@moparluvrsgagarage2898 big uns? ....you do mean big trains...right? 😉
Hey Brian did you feel like. Chief Gillespie. From the TV Series in the Heat of the night?. Outstanding video.
Hey Jaw tooth what more could you ask for? Restaurant and hotel by tracks. Wacth trains while eating or from hotel window. Have a great railroad day
Seem like they had trouble getting those tank cars couple. you know what the problem was jaw tooth?
1:42 CSX SpongeBob SquareCab
What's going on at 15:30? The train has just been shoved to that point. It stops, the conductor either sets or unsets the handbrake and then the train is shoved some more. So, for one of those movements, the handbrake was on, right?
Wonder what happened to the end of train device...I didn't see him take it off..maybe that's why he had trouble connecting those two cars....he left it on there and they were busy smashing the snot out of it to get the cars to couple and didn't see em putting back on the other end...DUH!!!
Man.. Amtrak really let they passenger cars go
CSX freight train hauling box cars tanks switch tracks get the rest headed north or south Ohio see the breaker back words good job jaw tooth
I like train videos on CZcams jawtooth 👍

Hi
Hey Jawtooth, what power plant is that in the background on the other side of the river??
That is the recently closed Stuart Power Plant. It use to burn coal. I got a tour of it years ago and got to go on the roof to see the view of the river.

Have you checked out Winston Place in Cincinnati yet? I go there all the time and it is very active.
