It was an honor to be invited to perform with the Conjunto Arsenio Rodríguez, the group that keeps alive the music of the master/legend of the #cubantres. Also, a terrific opportunity to have a #manoamano with the amazing #tresera #janyquiñones. All this happened at the patio of the legendary #estudiosareito, where most part of the best Cuban albums have been recorded. It was a special memorable evening for me.

JANY!!! I just had classes with her for 3 weeks at the Havana Music School (172 Calle 28 entre 17/19 en Vedado) What a surprise to stumble on her here. Obviously a great tresera and a great teacher, too. It was a great privilege to be taught by such an accomplished musician and all-around wonderful woman. I also saw her perform with the Conjunto Arsenio Rodriguez at the Casa de Cultura in Habana Vieja (Calle Revillagigedo entre Gloria/Misiones). They perform every Saturday at 5. Seeing them at that venue was the single best thing I did in Cuba.

Pensaba que el Conjunto de Chapottin era la continuidad del legendario Conjunto de Arsenio Rguez.Pensaba que con la desaparicion fisica del "Ciego Maravilloso" en EUA el Conjunto como tal había dejado su nombre con el inmenso trasero pero que el trompetista que Felix Chapottin,quien retorno a La Habana en los 50's hizo su Conjunto de nombre :" Chapottin y sus Estrellas con la maravilla de voz única ,la de Miguelito Cuní,sello vocal del Conj.de Chapottin. Dicho todo anterior quiero expresar mi duda:Que si este exquisito video q acaba uno de ver es con un Conjunto de nombre Arsenio Rguez es la continuidad de aquel o es un formato a propósito del mano a mano de estos dos talentosos treseros...

Great work on that 3 Michael, how it appeal to you? Got up one day, "think am gonna to learn how to play The Tres"?
It's a pretty long story but, my wife is Cuban and we spend quite a lot of time there. I started noticing the tres in Havana and once I came back to the U.S. I bought one. I got extremely lucky with meeting great teachers in Cuba and once I started getting better I'd just go out and jam with people.
