Nowadays there are TONS of homeschool co-ops so you can also send your kids to legit teachers that have retired and now take a small number of kids a few days a week. My grandkids get to go to parks, museums, swimming, skating, Pokemon clubs, dances, soccer, etc., with the local kids and our local group has a few hundred kids of all ages. I deeply regret sending my kids to private school, online only school, work at your own pace programs, and even pricey boarding school but back then there wasn't solid groups formed around the country.
