Many people talking about it being “over grown”. The meadow flowers are left to grow long in the summer to benefit the insects and wildlife in the cemetery. It’s very good that these old graves are now habitats for nature and not sterile lawn. I live round here and it really is amazing how much nature is inside this urban area. Interestingly, plants that people planted on the graves of their loved ones a hundred years ago come up again year after year. If they were ‘weed whacked’ then this wouldn’t happen. Sometimes it’s good to have a hands off approach and let nature do it’s thing. A difficult thing for some people to understand I suppose!

I find it extraordinary how much space and effort is given over to the dead in pretty much every country. Death is so utterly uniquely celebrated and yet in so many ways, it’s all the same and inevitable. I’m grateful for these quiet beautiful spaces as they evoke something irreverent and calm as well as mysterious too.

I am astonished, that there are bicycles and even dogs allowed on this cemetery! This is an absolute no-go on German cemeteries. I love animals, but let dogs sh..... into the bushes of a cemetery, maybe even on a grave that nobody tends anymore, where the headstone or the cross has fallen or sunken into the ground, this seems rather odd to me. The squirrels are really sweet, I would like to go there just to bring them nuts or something. The place in itself is quite remarkable with these lots of graves and crosses, and all of these differ from another, this was real art and beautiful to behold. Nowadays the graves nearly all look the same in one or the other way, a pity.

I was nearby in Earl's Court for a summer in the early 90s. The crypts under the colonnades had been destroyed and pretty much ransacked. London was just beginning to invest in restoring this central location. I loved walking through this beautiful monument daily. I learned much about the people who rested there, largely in peace and quiet.

I tried to go today to Brompton Cemetery, unfortunately, the weather wasn't that good as I left home with just a T-shirt on me and when I went to Bond Street station to take the bus 74 that would take me to the cemetery, it was bloody windy and cold (no freezing but cold) and there was no sunshine so I gave up my trip to the cemetery but I will try again on Wednesday ........ I've been to Algate Cemetery, Edmonton Cemetery and the one by Stamford Hill (close to the Jewish area), they are interesting places, full of history and kind of sadness and loneliness.

Season 5 episode 3 - if you forward to 44:28 - you can see you were stood in the exact spot the camera pans around. It looks like they placed a fake grave on the ground to film. Apropos that Ms Pankhursts marker is brown. I hope the King's horse wasn't hurt in her death. Invest in a telescoping swiffer duster so you can clear the cobwebs before shoving your camera in for a view. Also you can look for a high power camping flashlight that is rechargeable online. I have a 2 million candle power flas....torch for such things!
