- Finally get to ride the SX250 up the street after finding a critical failure in the carburetor...but still have issues to iron out. I also get the new keyed ignition switch hooked up and functional. Overall a win, but this bike still wants to put up a fight!
What a awesome rare old Enduro, so cool seeing you getting it running.
Thanks, it’s been a tough one to get sorted but will be worth it in the end!
Great to see the Harley going on the road , sounded better the second run and at certain higher revs definitely sounded crisper . ! So could be rich at lower revs right enough. But more fettling with carb will hopefully get it sorted .👍 nice wee bike and unusual .amazed with the parts you can still get for the bike .👍😁
Thanks yeah I have the carb off now and thoroughly going through the idle air circuit as recommended by my friend who’s a wizard with carbs. Apparently the ultrasonic didn’t get everything as there was some bit of a blockage it seemed. I really hope that was it!
I have 2 sx250s through the delorta in the trash install a 32mm m
MACHUNI. PROBLEMS SOLVED.
Thanks for the heads up! I’ll let my buddy know.
Congrats on the videos. I would love these videos where engine parts are changed. I have a bike cagiva sst 350 1983, I think they are pretty much identical to yours.
Luckily for me I didn’t have to split the case or do the top end at all.
Nice Road Runner. My friend had one in high school same color
Thanks! This one was my dads that he got when returning home from Vietnam in ‘73. Only has 63k miles on it. I was also brought home from the hospital in that car when I was born in ‘80. It was the “family car” for a bit there in the early 80s lol
Good luck with the carburettor m8
Thank you Andy!
My 76 Honda CR-250M drove me nuts. Cleaned the carb several times. Was loading up and not running crisp. Tried different main jets, no difference. Started running JP Octane booster then magically one day something opened up and it ripped. I am thinking a passage in the carb maybe air was cleaned by the JP.
Carbs can drive me nuts too…no matter how clean I can get them or how many times I dunk them in the ultrasonic, sometimes they just don’t come clean in one little spot. Glad you got yours cleared up. It’s a good feeling when they finally do run right!
I suppose a washer is missing between the spring and the clip to hold the needle, otherwise it can go up.
The washer/spring clip was there. It was the needle clip itself that was gone so the needle dropped down lower than it should have been creating a very lean condition
Hi im looking to buy one of these in uk but it over revs and dosnt shut off the guy says its definately carb related would you concur or could it be crank seals??? Tia its a 1976 sx250 he wants £2850
Hello there, yeah it could be a crank seal or possibly an air leak where the carb connects to the intake. Could be something as simple as the slide getting hung up or something too. The fact that it won’t shut off seem like the slide maybe? Hard to say for sure but def check all those.
Would you like to fix a second one? I have one with a seized engine and it’s a struggle trying to find someone to fix it.
Where are you located? My project queue is large right now but if you are close, I might be able to!
@@Garage2Trail I’m in Nebraska. I’m assuming not too close because I don’t see much snow on the ground in your video.
@@aznurtb21 yeah I’m in Pittsburgh PA. Mild winter here so far
@@Garage2Trail well, maybe we can get something going, think about it.
How do i get full video of harley crank seal replacement
crank seals and shifter spring installed on the SX250 but the saga continues!

Not sure if you watched this one showing the process from a few weeks back.
Need video on clutch side?
Video taking clutch out? Im in the middle of it
Should be towards the beginning. I got lucky and didn’t need a puller for the clutch. I think they have a special tool for that.
Is this the same bike as the sprint?
I don’t believe so, but maybe someone with more knowledge of the history on these bikes could chime in. I think the sprints were 4 strokes and this is a two stroke. I know the SS250 was the more street oriented version but I don’t know if that was considered a Sprint model. I’m not 100% though so hopefully someone can confirm.
Aermachi. Italian. HD trying to keep up with good trailies from Japan back in the day.
