Great to see it going at least sounds decent , but looks defo like main seal away.🙁🙁 and well spotted with the return centering spring broken. But looking decent now with new seat dials all operating and in place. More work required it seems .👍👍 great work . Look forward to the repair hope you can still get the parts required. 👍
Thanks! Surprisingly you can still get quite a bit of NOS parts for these things still. My friend already found the return spring and main seals new in the package from a local guy that has a stockpile of parts for these Harleys.
Where do you find you're Aemarchi SX-250 parts from , you said . Can still find parts for these bikes . Just wandering . Ive got a 1974 SX-250 .thanks fo4 the great video..

The best thing to do would be to search the part number on there instead of typing in the model number since they made so many little changes to those bikes mid year and each year
i found a 74 but it needs a new stator, ignition module and coil for $900. im new to bikes and ive never fixed one before, do you think it would be expensive to fix? its in good cosmetic condition and everything only those 3 things are wrong with it. also do you think it would be difficult for someone new to bikes to fix?
That’s cool, they are super simple to work on so I think if you got yourself a shop manual it would make things pretty easy for you. I recommend getting a good multimeter for the electrical diagnostic stuff and basic tools will do the rest. Join a couple Facebook AMF Harley groups too so you can ask the gurus. Lots of helpful people that helped me out when I was working on this one. I’d try and answer any questions you have too.
I just have found a sx250 not sure what year but it's missing a few parts like a spark plug and it doesn't run even with a regular spark plug in i ldo you know where I could possibly get some parts for it
Hi Scotty, your best bet would be to join up the Harley SX groups on Facebook. There are a ton of guys that are very knowledgeable with those bikes and helped me with all the questions I had. There are a lot of guys that can point you in the right direction with parts there too. eBay is another place you’ll be finding parts as well. I recommend searching by part numbers because Harley/AMF was all over the place with parts depending on years and mid model updates. It’s worth joining Facebook just for those groups if you aren’t already on there.
Why bother with this turd of a bike . When I was 15 I bought a Suzuki 185 ( mid seventies ) and my best friend bought one of these Hardly Doinit AMF pieces of crap . It ran like crap , sounded like crap and was planting it's parts all over Louisville Kentucky. I rode it once and had no desire to ever ride it again . Some things are better off dead . PK
It’s definitely a quirky bike and it’s been challenging but I’m working on this for my friend and at the same time it’s a learning experience. I will say it’s been fun to even get it this far considering it sat outside for so long that it had vines growing through the openings.
@rickcasey611 yeah i mentioned that to the owner, he didn’t want to do a top end at that time. The main goal was to get it running. He’s got the bike now but knows I’d do a top end for him if he sources the parts.

Think the top end needs rebuilt. Sounds like alot of piston slope.
