Grown Men it may make reference to "Stockholm Syndrome" i.e. falling in love with your abuser.

The meaning is two fold. 1) It is a reference to Stockholm Syndrome : "feelings of trust or affection felt in many cases of kidnapping or hostage-taking by a victim toward a captor" In this case the captor is his wife. 2) It's also a reference to actually playing a gig in Stockholm, Sweden, and wanting to get home to see his wife (who isn't/wasn't always on tour with him).

another idea is that the captor in this instance of Stockholm syndrome is alcoholism, it's no secret that Isbell once was an addict, and this could have been a retrospective song about drinking his life away and, at the time, not wishing to get better
