      Omg there was a moment on the trailer where it where it flipped open and I thought the new switch was also a virtual reality headset...I should just go buy a VR headset.

    OLED is also used in pretty much all VR headsets, which is why the picture quality looks amazing in VR games. OLED also allows for higher refresh rates at higher quality, which makes videos and games seem incredibly smooth.

      @@Willmelendz it is expensive, but if you want to watch content in unimagineable quality you have to get one. I watched Frozen 2 on it, and even though the movie sucks I was amazed by every scene, bc the visual effects are just the best.

    Should have added that one color starts earlier decaying. Thats why no other manufac. Picks it up. And lg has a patent on its white pixels

      kattamaran Nobody said anything but when we moved from CRT televisions to flat screens, we were giving up on a lot of years worth of service life. We're expected, as consumers, to buy a new flat screen TV every few years.

      525Lines You get ones with built in DVD players? My family has a Vizio that is on almost constantly for 7 or more years and works like new, and my aunt has a more than 10 year old Westinghouse with a built in DVD player, and it's fine too.

    I mean it’s going more mainstream now but with burn in as an issue I don’t know if I am willing to switch to Oled.

    So actually, LG still uses a backlight, actually a full-array backlight.
    But this time behind every subpixel. Philips did this ages ago.
    When Samsung launches a OLED display, it will really take off.

      They actually did not drop it. They shifted their focus to Quantum dots.
      Think about the mobile phone screens.

    Beats an LED hands down, but different sources need different settings. That’s ok, it’s worth the trouble to get near photo realistic images. And now, in 2018, the price has come down.

    My vita first gen has OLED ad I gotta say I love it. I can't bear use my little sisters vita because is the new type with LCD or LED (I can't really remember) OLED is awesome!

    If OLED is organic.... can it be used in outside displays? Will things like temperature effect it?

    Two months ago I bought 55EG960V,.)). It turned out that in vain I was happy. During testing it turned out that the TV is faulty: not working, TV in 3D mode image. Caused a wizard, he brought a new matrix, but for some reason didn't fit... then gave the application to the service center....
    Poor quality.

      zunedog31 OLED's been around. There was a Russian company trying to come out with a keyboard with oled displays on the buttons that changed as needed. This was a while ago.

      Ah yes they didn't explain that one well at all. All you need to know is that pretty much all tvs that are marketed as an "LED TV" actually do not have true LED displays. They're all just LED backlit LCD screens. I know it's a stupid thing but companies are completely allowed to sell you a tv marketed as an LED when the only thing LED about it is the backlight

      LED stands for "light-emitting diode". The "O" in OLED stands for "Organic" from my understanding. I might be wrong though.

      Abdurachman Guno it overall improves the display quality making it look better and it could save more battery if youre not using unnecesary pixels

      Using iPhone X: This display is the best i’ve ever seen. It doesn’t affect only black colors, either. It also affects all the other colors, making every color with less contrast.
      TL:DR Everything looks better.

      All there is to know is that a TV marketed as an LED TV for the most part actually doesn't have a real LED display. They're just allowed to call them LED TVs but they're actually just LCD TVs with an LED backlight instead of CCFL
