  • From facial recognition to self-service stores - computer vision is huge. So much so that hiring people to look after things seems almost archaic nowadays. Computers do it ten times better!
Our new IoT prototype proves this point. Using computer vision, it can identify different fruits and vegetables. What are the use cases? Well, our prototype can automate the weighting of produce, improving any grocery store experience.
Take a look at our latest video to learn more! And if you have any questions (or want to tell us how cool the idea is), jot a comment. We are always happy to hear your thoughts and opinions!
A full list of our services for IoT you can find here: bit.ly/2kZH5K8
P.S. We would like to thank Auchan Ukraine, who assisted us in the device testing!

In Norway, produce is weighed at checkout. I got the idea that recognition software could suggest the right product for faster checkout. Then I found someone called VeggieVision who's been working on this since 1997. Don't understand why it isn't in use...

    The idea is good.
That would be great if your device was installed into the scales.
Is it possible for this device to see a difference between tomatoe, persimmon and sharon?

That's an interesting question! We haven't tried training the device to recognize these specific fruits, so we don't have a definitive answer.
But if we had to guess, we'd say that our device distinguish a tomato from a persimmon. And if we had enough training data, we could probably also train it to differentiate between persimmons and sharons.
But even if our current neural network isn't as thorough as we'd hope, it is always possible to tweak it here and there to get the necessary resulsts.
We would love to test out your idea, so thanks a lot!

Why isn't this installed on all the automatic checks-out over the world? Or is it?
At least in Poland, in Biedronka you go with fruits/bakery directly to the self check-out, and you need to choose from the list, which has submenus, making it even more annoying.

W Warszawskiej Biedronce już widziałem! Jest nadzieja ;-)
