RBI Action Against Kotak Mahindra Bank: Bans From Onboarding New Customers In Online, Mobile banking

RBI on Kotak Mahindra Bank. cease and desist, with immediate effect, from (i) onboarding of new customers through its online and mobile banking channels and (ii) issuing fresh credit cards. The bank shall, however, continue to provide services to its existing customers, including its credit card customers.

RBI should clearly tell the exact offences by every bank when either they put penalty or banning new customers. What was their wrong doing? It is not right to simply make publicity without divulging the actual happening in the bank. Existing customers of every such bank when they are penalized to know what their bank did wrong?

It is Information Technology and not Income Tax, there was an audit done on their information technology infrastructure and identified loopholes and compliance issues which has banned them from onboarding new customers to protect them from fraud
