Thankfully we no longer need to do that thanks to the console ports (Also the game begs for you to not import the arcade)
I actually went to the TGM4 location test in Rowland Heights, CA. Was surprised it never released. I later realized it was because it did not follow the official Tetris rules. Thank you for the video.
In my opinion, people will stop playing the clones once he finishes TGM4. There's nothing stopping him, as much as the clones may make that seem.
It's basic competition. If you want to draw people away from your competition, you have to out do them.
Arika making way better guideline games that actually got people interested in Tetris again is what's really leading the way for TGM's comeback. For fucks sake we got a western release of TGM1 so far and it seems the Tetris Company is allowing for more experimental Tetris games like Tetris Effect, and less bland awful releases from the big publishers. I can't really understate how instrumental Tetris 99 (ARIKA) and Puyo Puyo Tetris (SEGA) have been in popularizing the game again.
Combine that with the recent surge in interest on the NES version of Tetris after the game crash was reached and I think there's a perfect recipe for a new Tetris boom

Oh wow, TGM 4's style looks very dreamlike, especially with the title screen's psychedelic selection of colorsss. Really hoping that either that or the home port(s) of TGM finally gets released in the near future!

Now we finally have an official port of TGM1. Hopefully it will sell well enough so we'll see soon TAP, Ti and who knows... maybe TMOR too.

I'm still waiting on the TGM western console port, I've heard great things about TGM and want to see how well I can do as someone who has the most experience in modern Tetris games like Puyo Puyo Tetris and Tetris Effect. It could easily make a ton of cash as well, Tetris Effect Connected is the perfect way to try both classic and guideline Tetris so people would probably want to try that other style of Tetris they couldn't in Effect, and it's just a convenient way to play the games.

I think there's a bit of a misconception about the clones. It's not that Mihara is withholding TGM4 due to some personal grudge against them. Instead, The Tetris Company has been hesitant to hand the license to Arika again because they believe the TGM series was the catalyst for these clones.
Clearly, with the rereleases of TGM and TAP, they've had a change of heart. I think we'll see TGM4 (or some new TGM game) soon.

I wonder if we’ll finally see this game again since Arika has the license again (they codeveloped Tetris 99 with Nintendo and The Tetris Company) and the recent home release of TGM1 that’s gotten a decent amount of attention plus the allowance of games that deviate from the rules more like Effect
