Y’all should do a 12,000 points space marines against 12,000 points Tyranids battle!!
3 videos in less than 24 hours? You're spoiling us boys! Always appreciate the hard work!
Agreed!
We need to hear from Steve at length
Nah
Surprise mubin isn't here
Chaos Marine Steve!
The year of Steve, because it'll take him that long to get through all those datasheets! xD
Please do a painting guide for your ultramarines, they’re so darn smooth, I need them 😂
Yes, this please!
Just downloaded the data sheets. Can’t wait to dive into them
My Stormraven Gunship can now fit 12 bladeguard with both their leaders and any dreadnought, I will now be using it again.
Yeah? Don't you have to wait to turn 2 to field it tho?
@@Khorzho if its starts hovering it loses aircraft keyword.
Sadly not any dread, only those with the dreadnought keyword which excludes all but one redemptor type
I'm glad you guys are excited. I'm four pages into the index, and I'm seeing the army special rule interacting with the faction stratagem and stacking with the detachment stratgems. I'm already exhausted.
Another great video! Keep em coming, excited to see more 10th edition batreps coming
Lots of content lately! I’m happy to have something to watch :)
When he said “ah Dorn, I only wish - Dorn!” I felt that.
i just recently started a Dark Angel army and im super hyped as Bladeguard are one of my favorite space marine units! see the number of different characters i can give a unit completely changes how they work and i am so excited to try it all out!! 10th edition is gunna be awesome!!!
Brother!!
Would love a painting guide from you guys. Hopefully the other factions are as interesting when it comes to the codices.
Yes, painting guide from Tak!
cant wait to see any of you in calgary at the end of the month!
I love you guys and the amazing content you make! Really looking forward to seeing the 10th edition bat reps. Someone get Tak some coffee!
Please. I needs it!
@@PlayOnTabletop how about some sleep too?
nice content, sorry if it was said already but about the squad tactic strat. It's within 9'', and deep strike it's more than 9'' so you specificly can't use it when a unit arrive in deep strike ( except some rare cases like inceptor special rule )
I loved Marneus Calgar's comic!!!
Thank you for these guides!
Unless things changed, deep striking has to happen outside of 9 inches, which should not trigger your "within 9 inches" squad tactics...
Weve seen a few ways to drop that restriction to 3 inches, so it will come up on occasion.
Meteroric Decent on Inceptors is 3 inches.
0:26 THE T’AU ARE THE GOOD GUYS!!!
One of the things I like about 10th ed is giving each datasheet its own mechanical function, unique to itself (within an army). So you aren't leaving really cool models on the shelf, because another unit fills the exact same niche but more efficiently. Now, there's the possibility that a unit you never would have touched in 8th/9th suddenly became playable in a way that opens up whole strategic possibilities.
Yeah, we’ve gone back in time. Strats replaced unit abilities in order to make everything viable so you wouldn’t discsrd half the roster because their ability was too niche and now we’re back to that.
Look at outriders. Their “special ability” is to auto-advance which was a standard ability across all bikes and skimmers for all factions.
You have a nice attitude but you’ve sort of missed the big picture swindle that gee-dubs just pulled on you.
@@Smilomaniac That doesn't make a lot of sense. Strats were never used to patch up bad or mediocre units, they were only ever used to further improve the best units. Nobody was trading off an oath of moment or re-deploy so they could turbo-boost. With the lowered restrictions on army compositions players can build into whatever niches they want, and the stratagems are generic enough that anything can make use of them.
Also, "swindle" implies that GW has some sort of vested interest in making players buy *less* models, which doesn't exactly check out.
@@Melonmancer What 9th did was let you pick various things like subfactions in order to enhance a specific playstyle that some units that weren't good by themselves would synergize with. In 10th you just get what you get and base your list around the units themselves which then creates your playstyle in the form of a 1-2-3 battleplan (not a literal description, but how it'll play out more often).
The detachments weren't great, I do think the AoO detachment was a much better idea. I'm not sure I agree with these open detachments, it just increases their workload and I think the more narrowed ones we'll get later will be too hard for them to manage (5 each being over a hundred in total), which then pigeon holes people into predictable lists.
Take Iron Hands in 9th as an example - There were almost as many different lists as there were players. It'll be less so in 10th, I'm convinced.
The swindle is GW's repackaging of their old idea and selling it as 10th. It's not that I disagree with the idea of making units feel unique via their abilities, it's that they seem to have gone overboard.
@@Smilomaniac I mean, the new detachment system *is* just the old subfaction system, with army building rolled in. Just with more standardization.
@@Melonmancer It replaces performance enhancements with gimmicks (except for eldar apparently). It could be really great in ways I don't expect, but it could also just be something that ends up in miserably predictable gameplay.
Take the new doctrines as an example, they're very good, but you also know how all games vs marines go and it does largely dictate bringing melee to take advantage of advance and charge.
I fall on the positive side of this one, I think it's powerful and keeps your opponent cautious. I expect much worse things.
Maybe it'll be good, I just don't think it will be due to what 40k has been so far.
Very cool to hear about the Play On Orange! Can't wait!
I’d love to see a Deathwatch First Impressions!!
Super excited for Killteams and Black Spear Task Force!
Gladiator Reaper
Heavy Onslaught Gatling Cannon
(Devastating wounds, Twin Linked)
(Also get Sustained Hits 2 vs Infantry)
Thanks for the Video 🎉 For Ultramar !
“I wasn’t even nick this time” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My judiciar or primaris librarian are gonna be fun on assault intecessors
The Vindicator might actually be the best tank Marine tank in 10nth, it can even shoot its cannon while engaged in combat range.
"i'm excited too. 😐" - Tak
Where can u download data sheets? And do other chapters have there special rules yet or no?
Hahah, love how you show the Biologis like he’s gonna be the most standout unit, when he’s about as mediocre as the leaders come.
Thanks for the video
We already broke Space Marines. Within about an hour myself and some of my local group realized that a Primaris Librarian with Bolter Discipline attached to 10 Desolation Marines using Storm of Fire is absolutely broken. add in Oath of Moment and anything they shoot at is dead, or rather any two things they shoot at are dead. They Ignore the indirect penalty, get +1 to hit and another pip of AP, with Ignores Cover, Critical Hits on 5+, all of this hitting on 3s(2s with the Vengor Launcher) with full re-rolls to hit and wound against Oath of Moment targets. Realistically Desolation Marines flat remove one Oath target(big Knights beware) AND can remove or severely cripple 2 other targets. The icing on the cake is they'll have a 4++ Invulnerable Save from the Primaris Librarian. Points don't matter with this combo, I am running it.
Easy fix, disallow characters to attach to Desolation Marines. They'd go from broken to strong.
You guys have mentioned the loss of AP a lot in the Video but from what I can tell a LOT of units now have access to Devastating Wounds which just go straight past saves, now I'm not a Math head but is this not just gonna come back to the same-ish lethality it was before? Like maybe even worse?
Not in our experience. Those devastating wounds are ONLY on critical wounds.
My firstborn! Oh man. It’s not looking good. Half my army is illegal now…. Definitely looks great for everything else though. Amazing content, thank you guys so much.
Please do Um vs Black Templars. Those feel like the strongest Space Machine armies unless someone else gets something absolutely insane
Liking the music
F in the chat for Raven Guard players, Phobos troops options aren’t battleline
Yeah but you don’t need to take battleline so whatever
There’s no “raven guard” anymore, we’re all ultramarines in different colors now.
GW was very proud of their vanguard range and wanted it to be a stand-alone army which is why it got its own army of renown rules.
They’ll get their own restricted detachment that gives them better OC no doubt and the stealth theme will be rolled into that.
I can't freaking wait to play 10th. Interesting to see units that weren't thát powerful in 9th now all of a sudden are a powerhouse, where there are some units that feel a bit nerfed. Overall really positive on the new Marines codex.
Hey! In your recent 40k in 40m you had tyranids field only 2 ripper but minimum in squad is 3, why is that?
The box set strangely only comes with two.
*Stares in Inner Circle*
Uriel? Give any infantry, like centurions, deep strike.
And even if they wanted to get rid of combat squads which has been a rule for space marines since 3rd ed, at least they could have kept it on the tactical squad. Its stuck at 10man, probably going to be the least used unit now and possibly up on the chopping block because of tgeis 1 change.
Tak deserves a long vacation, For his sanity.
Love you guys really need how to play 10th edition video,
5:20 what happened to that poor Biologis' head lol
Excuse me where can I see that datasheet for the gladiator reaper plzzzz?
Ultramarines feel busted strong, Imperial, Crimson fists and Raven Guard feel quite strong but a bit situational and Sallys, Hands and in particular White Scars feel like you have to want to play them. Raven Guard in particular abusing Precision feels great
This is cool and all but wheres my 10th edition T-shirt
I really hope you do different chapters for Space Marines! Dark Angles all the way!
***Assault Cannon datasheet states that the BS skill is 3+. Oath of moment with that +1 would make it hit on 2's ***
Anywaaaaay, thumbs up for both of you !
"DEBATABLE" I love your guy's humor. Hang in there Tak
“I don’t wanna paint that much yellow”
*me watching as I look at my newly built (unpainted) 2k point Fists army
YEAH, Ultramarines are da best.
Super excited to see the two of you play against eachother.
Oh Nick, Xenos can't be the good guys. Silly man.
Wait... that talk about the effect of the Chapter masters is making it sound like you no longer choose a sub-faction?
That... is the first thing getting me worried about my Evil Suns army, the Ork Faction overview made no mention of Speed Waaagh! either soooo... have to see what happens to Speed Freaks armies.
No more subfactions, in fact a lot of custom choice was completely cut out of the game, like all combiweapons across factions rolled into one mediocre profile and vanguard vets having their very different melee profiles neutered down to one bad choice.
We’ll most likely get a speed waaagh detachment that changes the core waaagh when the ork codex comes out, but for index you’re playing as goffs.
"It's ok, It's ok! ........It's fine!" 😆
Does nobody want to talk about JT saying „I can’t get it into the hole“ tak: „this happens often here“
The example given about Squad Tactics missed a CRITICAL detail. Deep Strike units have to land MORE than 9" from enemy models. Squad Tactics triggers on an enemy unit ending a move WITHIN 9". You can't use the strategem the way he was saying.
GSC, daemons, and tyranids have ways to deep strike closer than 9 inches, and we can prob expect more for other factions... so that interaction can come up in certain match ups (and almost certainly will vs stuff like daemons).
Some space marine units have a new rule to DS within 3 inches.
Just to clarify, as the other mentioned there are units that can DS within 9”, so that’s one free overwatch, then you get another one on them when they charge, because it’s a new phase.
I'm pretty happy but I am very sad that my jump Lieutenants are now unusable and what did they do to my precious vanguard veterans?
Twin lightning claws are a recommened build option in the box and are now illegal.
I was really hoping to use twin claws on two of the 5 pieces...how did they make it illegal?
@@dustinperkins9886 The stat card doesn't have an option to replace the pistol with a second "Heirloom Weapon" so the twin lightning claw models aren't technically legal.
@Hatbaron that sucks :( I was going to use rune sword and shield for the captain, twin claws on two and chain swords and bolters on the last two...so much for that
I mean the Reaper is cool but SMs are not wanting for anti-infantry. The Lancer however is going to be consistent strong AT. The Marines really lack high S AT that doesn't rely on Oaths to really punch through but the Lancer gets to reroll a hit, wound, AND damage roll on its Heavy 2 shots at S14 AP-4 and D6+3? Uh... yes please!
The Lancer wins over the reaper this edition, yes.
I feel like assault marines are better than van vets now which is wild
You mean the loadouts? I think only the assault sergeant gets to pick custom weapons.
@@Smilomaniac in a 10 man squad you also get 2 eviscerators, and 2 plasma pistols/plasma guns/melta guns/ flamers. And you’re rolling 10 4+ mortal wounds on a charge.
But can I bring Calgar (which I might pick up) and My Rowboat?
You can! The restriction is not more than one of the same named epic hero.
Tak I’m very excited
Also tak 😪
I love Taugar and ur conten excited to see what tenth holds
I hope you do videos like this for all factions!
We’re going to try!
Defensive Array is up to four times, not just three!
What happened to the doc at 5:20 hahaha his head???
OMG if you get you're own orange I can use that with my necrons of the mephrit dynasty! **insert gif of "shut up and take my money"**
Assault cannon is hitting on 3 s already
Christ bless you, thank you for all these uploads feels great
The potential combos of this Index are just insane. Piggy with Sternguard, Calgar with Aggresors, 4 BladeVets with a Captain and Lieutenant in an impulsor... We are looking for a really good time for Ultramarines :)
This makes me excited
I want the next game to be either salamanders or white scars please
I can't wait to see salamanders codex :D
Can’t wait to see how badly they may have nerfed the Deathwatch… again
the servo turrets get overwatch on 4+? The Tau should really get something just as good, because wasn't overwatch originally a Tau specific thing and was kinda one of their strong points?
Excuse me sir, this is a marines video.
An ofc they’ll get it.
I do dislike I can't make my own chapter master anymore.
Nice review. Guilliman hits like a truck indeed but Leon oh god he looks inzaneee. Also, i hope primaris champion and emperors champion will have different datasheets.
P.S. I believe i am watching you guys since the first video you posted here. Then channel grew superfast and now you guys sitting on 300k. Never been interested in Star Wars or Conquest, even LOTR tabletop games but you guys make videos way to captivating. Thanks to Tau Nick, Space Marine Steve, Tycho, Mubin, UltraTak, JT and all of your team for Great time. Last but not least, Bring back World Eaters and let JT pilot them. I am sure his inner chaos will let out and lead to a wonderful game. Maybe Tycho vs JT aka DG vs WE? Who knows ?! Cheers.
Im in love with the space marine index. My techmarines and gladiator tanks will rule the world hitting on 2+ with free reroll everything while most other factions only hit on 4+ now apperently. Throw in some thunderstrikes for +1 to wound as well. Top it all off with invictor warsuits putting carnifexes to shame in every single way!
JT: I can't get it in the hole.
Tak: This happens a lot.
Lmao. There are no accidents in editing.
If this is gonna be a ultramarine vs (im hearing yellow and gauntlets) Imperial fist? Eff me im in. SONS OF DORN!
Hhm Calgar looks different….
We did a studio wide search for Calgar on day of the shoot and couldn't find him. A few days later we found him in a random box on the highest shelf of our terrain staging area.
Weird screw ups with captains here, as captains cant use plasma pistols at all, but can somehow dual wield relic blades.
Also combi weapons were seriously neutered. While the profiles are generous, having a flamer should give you flamer shooting rules, and having plasma shiukd give you plasma rules.
Please start calling Tau Nick Tau Nuke lol
Just a quick splash at command units, I see Captains on bike, and jump pack. Does this mean on bike is back from legends?
Edit: STILL NO BIKE FOR THE KHAN! Love the boost landraiders got, and some of the transports now transport bith 1st and 2nd gen marines!
I appreciate that you want to keep it positive, I really do, but you’ve highlighted two units that just lost half their shots for a low priority reroll and the firestrike being effectively stationary really didn’t need that nerf.
I’ve gone over the sheets and there are a few standouts, like gravcannons being anti-vehicle 2+ and stormravens being able to carry a primaris dreadnought, but the faction has lost so much customizability, vanguard vets got completely neutered down to one mediocre melee loadout (for NO good reason!), tactical marines arbitrarily have to be fielded in 10 man units now and tge twin-link massacre across most models is beyond brutal.
Oath is a deceptively bad ability, because it relies on your opponent putting something in range that you want taken out and you don’t get full army rerolls in practice, you get rerolls for whatever’s within range of one target, five across a whole game.
Doctrines are a standout ability and giving marines advance/charge is frankly too good, but that then begs the question if we lose this detachment when the codex comes out and how other detachments could possibly compete.
Finally marines lost an absolute ton of stuff, like litanies, angels of death with a handful of rules rolled in, chapter traits and doctrines that synergized amazingly with subfactions like Iron Hands. Oath doesn’t make up for that at all, those were painfully tweaked rules that made uo for the high cost of low guns to wound ratio models, something that GW had to slice 10-15% of the total points cost despite all the bonuses and the faction still middled in a bad way, save for two OP lists.
Why isn’t anyone pushing back on what looks to be a very neutered faction? You’ve played for almost as long as I have, you can’t smell the direction of all these changes?
Just tuned in. So you're talking space marine... without Space Marine Steve? It's almost heresy
Poor Tak looks exhausted. Hope he has some time to rest after all the 10th edition frenzy!
In first. One comment is one seconds!
10th is shaping up to be alot of fun.
Any new conquests coming up?
Just released one yesterday!
Space marines getting big buffs everyone else getting nerfs
You have no idea how unbelievably nerfed marines are in 10th. Everything with double guns save a few models just had their shots halved. The majority of choices have been removed and ‘oath’ is a heavily overrated ability in practice at the expense of half a page of rules that marines used to have to make up for their high points costs.
It’s just that these two guys won’t bring up the negatives.
It’s unlikely to be as bad for anyone else, prinarily due to the twin-link massacre and the hatchet job they did on faction rules.
I lost any hype for tenth edition once I realized LoV got NERFED with the addition of Markerlights....and Tau got BUFFED with the removal of Markerlights...
Unfair, devastating wound all around, strong buff from HQ, or just regular units great skills, hit on 3+ with heavy, lots of keywords on lots of weapons options, while the Nyd lost buff, lost psyker, lost units, less shots, worse bs. This narrative wont be a battle, is going to be a one-sided massacre.
My thoughts exactly, i get they are the poster boys of 40k but it's so tiring when they just keep getting better and better constantly whilst most factions get nerfed, side graded or only minor buffs..... im a guard player but om going halves on a leviathan box and im having the nids, think early into 10th it'll be a bloodbath against SM until people start figuring out tactics to use against them
@@North_Of_Nowhere what drives me MAD its that Nyds got nerfed for most of the army, no more neuro, no walking prime, no adaptive physiologies, no shardgullet, Heavy venom cannon nerf, BS nerf, rupture cannon nerf, no wargear option, how could be fair that a librarian give 4+ invul to Hellblaster or Eradicators while the Hyve Tyrant gives the "godlike" buff of the assault keyword. Im not buying the box anymore and refuse to play nyds unless is 9 edition.
Today's Space Marine Index is weird!
Too many units, too little logic.
GW also threatened to remove Boxnought, Contemptor and Relic terminators.
But it's all there in the Index!
On the other hand, the Contemptor is nothing like the old one from the Burning of Propero, not the new one from the Heresy!
They didn't threaten to remove old dreadnoughts. They're moving them to legends, so they will get rules (as you've seen), but these wont we updated going forwards.
They will nerf all of this
